I’ve built several 300 chicken egg size incubators and a hatcher. I always put in a hollow back and put the fan at top of the panel. With a couple inch gap off the floor. This way the fan sucks the cold air from the floor hot air rises anyway so helps natural air movement and with the heating element and water tray in front of the fan like Gqf cabinet incubator. You can have adjustable vents for fresh air behind the back panel. This helps regulate the humidity better also. I use heating wire from Amazon and porcelain insulators.
Works like a champ less moving parts. Anything that can’t get wet can be mounted to a removable shelf. Poppa

I had same problem. When heat was called for it was to slow getting the box to the right temp.So what I did was plugged in one bulb down in the bottom wich stayed on.It would keep the box around 90 degrees..The digital switch works as a booster to get the additional heat that I needed. It only kicks on about every half hour .Stays on about 2 minutes .For humidity I am using the big metal meat tray down in the bottom.Quite a bit of surface volume .Have to work with what you have.I really do like the basket Idea.Mind if I copy that. Thanks for the video..Your friend Bob

I love that temperature controller. It is what we have been using in our portable brooder.

Another tip I noticed is if you are like me starting out I was keeping my records of the birds in my head..What with more birds coming along .Cage building and moving things around I kinda lost count of the exact ages .Luckily I have at least kept the batches together...Then I noticed the roosters starting to crow a little and patches of the white foam semen .Hens start laying a week or two after that.So I gave them a new birthday at about 6 weeks old..I am keeping record now for sure.....What do you think about marking the male white birds with a magic marker like on the feet or something? And if so what color would you use? Talk at you later Bud...

The delay was due to the heating element having to heat that huge, highly heat conductive box that it was in, before you would get any real heat into the lockdown. Making it smaller as you did and adding insulation will improve it's performance.

Have you got the model numbers for the temp and humidity controllers?

Very nice indeed!! Do you have or put a "top" for the hatching trays (to prevent the quail from jumping out of the hatching tray)?

keep secrets that will end up dying with me because of a messed up reality that does not recognize the potential of artists or share and hope you may at least lessen the impact of chaos attempting to navigate the thin straight line yourself ....no brainer!!!!

It was good in theory but did not work for us so we did not use it. Not necessary

Does the bottom basket get too hot with the heat plate right above it? What is the brand name on the heat control?
