As someone who doesn't follow Altered, I would love to see a smaller image of the original card beside the unique so I can visually see what's different between the cards
Firstly, this should be an ongoing series. This is the content I'm looking for while I'm trying to value my uniques and ultimately other peoples uniques when the market opens. Seeing your thoughts and getting more perspectives on uniques is super interesting. That being said, both of those ordis uniques are solid As for me. Anubis sucks late game when everyone is playing 1 drops first to get more information before commiting to the board so the mana orb qualifier on its ability is a bonus when you hit late game. The fact that its basically haven warrior from reserve is great. The sandman is crazy. Twinkle twinkle on a body is really good. You get to upgrade an ordis token and sleep your best bureaucrat to get its effect again. I already want to play sandman in waru and this is a top tier upgrade. Also, I havent seen anyone say this anywhere, so I want to float this out there: getting a unique version thats roughly as good as the rare (like a sidegrade) of a rare you were going to max out on seems really useful in rare hungry decks like waru. You want the rare version of most of the bureaucrats in that deck, so getting to run 3 additional rares in that deck when you work uniques in seems really good and definitely the kind of uniques Im going to be looking for because people currently seem to be undervalueing them.
Super stoked to see my uniques get rated so high. The video was a ton of fun besides that too. Would definitely love to see this type of video again. Probably twice per set or so.
I find it so interesting that people like to counter that they don’t want their unique to take a rare slot of something they are already playing but also want the card to be a better version of the same card they are playing. I personally just want my unique to take the place of commons that I want to be slightly better ie the moon jellyfish which turns out to have some insane uniques
I love this idea and I’m a new player who got my first cards this week. In the future please show original and unique side by side to help with teaching for new players. Thanks!
Yes, that will 100% be in the next one. I apologize, we were in a bit of a rush before I had a weeklong trip so I didn't have the editing time I would have preferred! Next time for sure it will be done right for you all!
Really good video. I'll second wanting to see the original next to the unique for comparison, but not a huge deal for me. I hope you make more of these, because for me, the Uniques are what really make Altered interesting!
Glad you dug it! It was really fun to do so we will for sure revisit it. For a little peak behind the curtain, I did want to include the rare images also, but I was on a super tight time constraint to try to get this scheduled before I left for a trip! If I had a little more time, I would have fit those rare images in too so 100% will add it in next time now that the core framework is done!
This should be an ongoing video series. Uniques are really hard to guage when it comes to playability and power level, and videos like this will help with that greatly. Also, if you guys keep doing this, how would someone go about submitting cards? I pulled some cool uniques and would love some input on them. 1 in particular, I think, might be very strong.
Enjoyed this one. Great idea for videos. I think Kuwat and sun wu king are probably the best as they are the most straightforward. I think the council is an A++ in waru and Mack.
Played my first attempt at Lindiwe for locals today, Flamel came up big in a couple games for sure (and was dead in a third where they were card-rich anyway)
Cetonis's Kuwat gets an A from me in Sigismar. Crazy t1 for Sigi Boy. Belowa's Tinker Bell's Support would be neat in a Turbo Treyst Build. You could get 3 Scrap counters with it. Ultrasiq's Cernunnos should just read: Anchor Orouboros Trickster lol. Yidris' Sun Wukong is legit. Seems difficult to use in a vacuum, but with Tejia and Arjun supporting it you could get a lot of value out of it. Yidris' Dorothy Gale is super solid. Note that it doesn't ask you to control any landmarks or have any number of boosted characters or pay anything from reserve. Those kind of uniques are hard to come by.
I've got a unique Ordis Robin Hood that does the same thing as the rare, except it costs one more from reserve and discards an expensive permanent when played from anywhere. Instead of 3/2/2, it's a 4/1/1. I think the ability is worth playing to free up a rare slot.
Wouldn't sleep on that Tinker Bell. Don't think it's crazy but it gives Treyst a ton of counters very quickly. Discard at dusk -> reserve ability -> play the card you put into reserve is 3 counters, and it draws a card on top of that.
I'm kind of interested in Altered because of the art style, and the gameplay seems interesting. But I won't lie I'm kind of put off the by Unique cards. How different will they actually be from each other? Do they have that much of an impact on the match ups? It feels like something that could kill the competitive side of the game from an outside perspective
the drawing coucil i think the 5 cost hurt and waru already draw quite a lot, but it is a solid card and I can see it played over the common one. Maybe a B For the cernunnos you forgot to mention its utility in lyra festival deck I don't know if it deserve better than c+ but that is something you want in that particular case. The anubis is a solid D for me, i don't like it, the rare is a better choice for me and I already don't plan to play it. But my local meta is full of ordis and axiom who don't care about a sac so it may influence me a fair bit.
Card 1 - agree with Jordan, Card 2 - agree with Jordan, Card 3 - agree with Dan, Card 4 -Both pretty much spot on. Card 5 - Yeah C- is fair. Card 6 - Agree with Dan. Card 7 - don't agree with either B- you have to sabotage yourself to make them lose fleeting. Card 8 - Agree with Dan A-. Card 9 - I don't think its as good as the rare. Maybe on a par at best. C- lol though, the Anubis you want to play when you don't want Anubis.. Card 10 - Agree with Jordan more on this one but I'd give it a C. By the way guys love hearing the ExAltered music in the background. I think in general you slightly over-rated things, but you weren't to far off mostly.
What can I say, we are optimists! I also think the truly top tier uniques are pretty hard to come by. I think it's healthier for people to find value in more attainable power levels rather than starting a trend of desiring only the top level of power!
@@MaindeckGames I couldn't agree more, but your ratings kind of give false hope and don't allow for anything above them. I rate uniques as BAD, OKAY/PLAYABLE, GOOD, GREAT and BONKERS. As long as its at least in the second category I think its fine and they are the same or a little better than the rare. A lot of Uniques fall in that category and the GOOD category when I review them. I rate very few Uniques as Bonkers and those are the ones that attract big money. Some people can't tell yet which ones those are however. Rating a card A+ when in reality it's probably top end Good, bottom end Great is a bit of a misnomer.
@@MaindeckGames Don't get me wrong I love to see your optimistic take on the cards which is great, but the ratings themselves should perhaps be more muted.
27:00 not sure if you get there yet. But bravos boost leader wants to play the to landmarks that are reserve effects happen on play and on reserve boost 1. This let’s that deck get an extra boost. Sounds like Dan got there but I was focused on typing
I will say the the support on the Anubis being hero is kinda rough for sigimae though he wants create in companion sense he makes his in hero. So that your forcing enemy to play 2 cards a turn

I will add that next time!

Discard at dusk does not give Treyst counters. Treyst only cares about the afternoon.
@@gabrielmonck-zweck2392 ah that's right! Still, 2 counters isn't the worst thing

Didn't expect to see my boyfriend's uniques reviewed here, lol. He never told me
Uniques are cool. But don't sleep on that green and gold fit from Dan. The evidence is mounting that you're a secret Aussie.
I think I might have an S+ unique. How should I share it?
