- After promising to build a “beautiful wall” on the US-Mexico border throughout his election campaign, inspired by Israel’s “illegal” separation wall built in the West Bank, Trump on June 16 reiterated another promise - to construct a missile defence system like Israel’s Iron Dome but better and over the entire United States. He vowed to make it the world’s greatest missile shield. The former US President first made this pledge in December last year after the Israel-Hamas war broke out and he has repeated it several times at campaign stops since. Trump’s poll promise has been met with great enthusiasm from his supporters.
But does the US need an Iron Dome of its own? How feasible is it for Washington to invest in a short-range missile defence system?

Iron dome wouldn't even really work in the US's case against the threats its likely to face. Iron dome is good for relatively slow moving missles and drones. The kind the US would be likely to face from near peer adversaries China and Russia are much faster intercontinental ballistic missles or hyper sonic missles. The Iron dome would do very little against those 😂
