“Very Dangerous...” US Concerned Over Iron Dome’s Vulnerabilities Amid Israel-Hezbollah Tensions

- US officials have serious concerns that in the event of a full-blown war, the Iran-backed Hezbollah could overwhelm Israel’s air defences, three US officials told CNN. A senior administration official told CNN that some Iron Dome batteries in Northern Israel “will be overwhelmed” in case of an attack. US officials have communicated their fears of Iron Dome being vulnerable to Hezbollah’s vast arsenal of missiles and drones. Israeli officials have assured the US that they are planning to shift resources from southern Gaza to northern Israel in preparation for a possible offensive. An Israeli official also said the Iron Dome would get overwhelmed if Hezbollah conducted a large-scale attack principally using precision-guided weapons. Hezbollah has been stockpiling precision-guided munitions and missiles from Iran for years, which Israel has repeatedly raised concerns about. Watch the video to find out more.

the only "vulnerability" as you say is the system getting overwhelmed. this isn't a vulnerability. every air defence system has this problem. there is only a certain amount of missiles available at any one time. its like this for the S300, S400 , patriot, NASSAM's they all have this problem.
The only way to prevent this is to have more missile manufacturing capacity. And then having enough launchers and actual iron dome complete systems. as you can only have a certain amount of launchers per radar/command centre.
So you need also more radars and C&C nodes too
Each Iron dome node has 4 launch containers so 20 X 4 is 80 missiles per node. the radar can track 40 targets. and each target the SOP is to launch 2 missiles per target .
every system has similar limitations. the only way to change that is to have more systems. period. Israel is obviously trying to increase this. but as I said. what good are more C&C nodes and radars. if you dont have the manufacturing capacity to make more missiles. I mean you gotta do the math here and just guess the amount of missiles they are already making to match just what they were intercepting small amounts for about a year. so they may have stockpiled a fair amount. but that wont last forever

Israel just like everyone has a hard time detecting drones as they have very low heat signature and fly low and the solution Israel worked on for a long time haven't been used yet for whatever reason
other issues is with too many simple Rockets where you have to allow some that you can intercept through and Israel has an amazing artificial intelligence aiding in allowing only those with least damage in the simulation
anyway just like every system Israelis have "vulnerabilitys" too
but we aren't just the first making a system like an iron dome ut we have the best one much better then Russian s300,400 and even recently IDF got rid of patriots (inferior over Israeli systems and more costly)
