i have no clue why Fiona Apple went quiet on me once i exported this video - my bad! hope ya'll enjoyed the ride that was 2024 on this channel & let's hope for a good 2025!
You really need to do Opeth's Deliverance. It's Damnation's sister album, so it was from the same time, but has a lot of the deathgrowl vocals that I know you have come to love. 😊
Hello Kira and happy new year! Suicidal Tendencies is one for my very favorite albums of all time, That Fiona Apple's one is an artist I learned from your channel it is indeed a very nice album.
I prefer how you react now, than from the start, with the songs jumping like a scratched record. I like to hear the whole song and it's like we're all sharing it now while you listen. There's no metal podcasts or radio programs anymore in italy, I mean with a speaker other than the music. That's why I made my own podcast (but it's in italian) to program the music I like. I put channels like this to spend the night shifts at work, it's cool.
How much you got into Opeth is really fun for me both because I kinda had a similar musical journey into getting into them but also that years ago on one of your much earlier videos you said something that made me incredibly certain you’d love Opeth and I recommend them then and while I had to wait a very long time it seems my impressions were entirely accurate lol. Considering this, my main bands I’d recommend starting with checking out to continue the prog metal thing would probably be Enslaved, Leprous, The Ocean, and for a slightly lighter prog metal your fellow Aussies Caligula’s Horse (also would give a shoutout to my local favorites Hammers of Misfortune who are incredible but kinda completely unknown outside a small amount of people who absolutely adore them).
Thanks to you Kira, I have rediscovered Opeth, a band that was vaguely on my radar (I had only listened to the first album, and I'm not a big fan of prog metal tbh). I look forward to seeing more alt metal, post-hardcore, doom, and gothic metal. Watching you react to bands like Anathema, The Gathering, Katatonia, Tiamat, My Dying Bride, Theatre of Tragedy, and Paradise Lost would be amazing! 🤘👍 PS: The Patreon community are very good people! I wish them a great 2025 🙏
I super enjoyed this video! Love that you included albums/tracks from your Patreon as well on this list! :) Looking forward to more from you this year! :)
Here are some other bands / albums I would recommend / react to since you like Opeth. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine / Accelerated Evolution Emperor - Anthems to Welkin at Dusk Ihsahn - After Leprous - Tall Poppy Syndrome / Bilateral Porcupine Tree - In Absentia Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
I don't listen to much new stuff although I've been making an effort to start again recently. One new album I have heard that has totally amazed me is Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation.
I was pleasantly shocked when I first played Damnation. Great way to appreciate the clean vocals. My very late 2024 discovery was ‘Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form’ by Crowbar. No idea why I had missed it.
Accidentally found your channel about a week or 2 ago and have been really enjoying your journey of exploring metal :D Can't wait to see more Opeth reactions :) Blackwater Park is my favourite Opeth album, but their earlier releases are also awesome, Like My Arms Your Hearse, Deliverance, and Morningrise (although I fee like you might like that one less... I could be wrong though!) For me a couple of albums I apparently couldn't stop listening to, based on my Spotify wrapped: Cynic - Traced in Air (this was my number 1 album for 2024) The Faceless - Autotheism The Faceless - In Becoming A Ghost T-Square - NEW-S (This is Japanese fusion jazz so very different than the above lol) Have a happy new year and looking forward to more content!
If you want to further investigation 'Oldpeth', you got to react to their first two albums 'Orchid' and 'Morningrise' at some point. I know I'm in the minority, but those two hits me harder than anything, they did afterwards. There's just something truly 'scandinavian' in the feel of those two albums, that they never really touched upon again musically.. 🤔🤗
Yeah! Opeth is insane. Waiting for the older albums like "morningrise" and "my arms, your hearse". Idk why no one talks about them, but these two blow me away. Hope u get that
I so love funky album 'Suicidal for Life' from 1994 by Suicidal Tendencies. Actually, your dad as classic prog fan could be able to enjoying album 'Heritage' from 2011 by Opeth because there is kind of great stylisation of oldschool vintage prog. If you, Kira, love things like 'Vroom Vroom' and new album 'Brat' by Charli XCX - highly recommend you listen to album 'Black Water' from 2018 by ukrainian electronic artist Maruv!
Just a sugestion: You should Heard "still cyco after all those Years" of S.Tendencies. its their re-recording of their First álbum with some "extras"...
You have to do some Iron Maiden reactions, maybe Dance of Death from El Vivo Chille,Hallowed be thy Name(voted as 1 of 5 best metal songs ever),Powerslave and song that would make you thrilled - Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Love your reactions. Hoping you will branch out your reactions to include other genres in 2025 including Dub Reggae albums from the 70s/early 80s, Funk from the 70s, Soul from the 60s/70s, Motown, HipHop from the 80s, Country Rock from the late 60s/early 70s, etc. All the best in 2025!
I've enjoyed finding you through death metal. MF Doom is by far my favourite rapper. If you like some punk you started good. Some newer stuff that would be cool to see is Propagandhi - Supporting Caste or A Wilhelm Scream - Ruiner. Both sick albums. If you want something sad City & Colour- Sometimes. Thats my cry baby album 😂 best of luck in the new year!
Lend your lovely, half-hidden, ears to SymphonyX (Prog Metal, albums like "Paradise Lost (2007)" and "Underworld (2015)" or Dark Tranquillity (Melodic Death Metal) with albums like "Damage Done (non-remastered edition, 2002)" and "Character (2005)". May the year of 2025 smile gently upon you. You're still my third fav "thing" to come out of Australia, after AC/DC and Angel City (The Angels in your neck of the bush). Luv'ya.
Great choices with Alice In Chains, Motörhead, Black Flag, Opeth, Tool, MF DOOM, Suicidal Tendencies, Electric Wizard, Helmet, and Fiona Apple. When it comes to Alice In Chains I’d recommend listening to their 1995 self-titled. It’s their darkest album yet and their final album with Layne Staley before he tragically passed away in 2002. For more Opeth, I’d recommend checking out Ghost Reveries and Watershed. You’ll love those almost as much as Still Life, Blackwater Park, and Damnation.
For what i recall Helmet was only for the Crow soundtrack and they made it big because of that song Milktoast and i think Electric Wizard is a stoner doom metal.
Hi, I suggest you listen to Inferno by Motörhead before Ace of Spades. You have already reacted to Overnight Sensation and Overkill, now it's Inferno's turn, you will feel the true soul of Motörhead: raw, nasty but real.
Hey I see that you were pretty into opeth a bit. I think that you may really like crack the sky by mastodon. Check it out please. Also love the nomeansno. Keep it up!!
Well if you like industrial why not try Demanufacture by Fear Factory? If you already like MF Doom you could try Dr. Octagon by Kool Keith and if you like Fiona Apple you could try one of the first Tori Amos records. I think Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink and Boys for Pele are the best.
Do you like Katatonia? I figure a Opeth fan would dig them. The history of those two bands are related. Katatonia’s Brave Murder Day From 1996 Had Opeth’s Singer on vocals (except for the song “Day”) + both frontman are best friends.
You need to react.. now! to Hear 'n Aid - Stars. The best 80s hard rock and metal voices and guitars in a unique charity song. Like We Are the World? ...but in hard rock and metal. Don’t worry about copyright, it doesn’t have any, I'll checked. You’re going to enjoy it, trust me. And with that said, I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hughs from Spain
I absolutely fell in love with Leon Bridges' self titled album Leon. And that was about it. Other than that, it just wasn't a good year for music. It was the year AI music found an audience, and it'll get so much worse.
Hey how ya goin? Got a suggestion Hank Williams iii Album straight to hell Song Pills i took Its bad ass, lyrics brilliant.. Hope you give it a shot.. Peace🤘💀🤘
Well lots of Old School, nothing creative. You seem to ignore the massive Rock/Metal scene in Asia (+Mexico) Bands like Lovebites, Asterism, Nemophila, The Hu, Voice of Baceprot, Mary's Blood, Fate Gear or if you like Classic Rock The Warning are much more creative...

Please react to "Fear of a blank planet" or "Anesthetize" by Porcupine Tree.
Yeah, great suggestion for any damnation fan
She would also love "in absentia" as an album.
Stupid dream too
It has to be Anesthetize - FoabP is more of an average PPT song in my opinion.
For an album recation it should be "Deadwing"

Damnation - Still life - Blackwater park is a really interesting ranking. love it. Hope your 2025 be just as enjoyable!

Morningrise is...just...amazing
My top 5:
Paula Teles - Desencanto
Vola - Friend of a Phantom
Imminence - The Black
Poppy - Negative Spaces
Galera - Coma
One band you might like is "Wucan" from Germany. Really cool stuff.
Yeah! Opeth is insane. Waiting for the older albums like "morningrise" and "my arms, your hearse". Idk why no one talks about them, but these two blow me away. Hope u get that
I was drawn to your channel because of the Opeth reactions so I'm going to do some catching up with some of the other's

I have a very special album to recommend... "Out Come The Wolves" by Rancid... One of the most "impossible to stop listening" albuns of all times...

small correction: the band is NoMeansNo, the album is Wrong
If you're looking for some hip hop to react to may I suggest Death Grips?
Opeth's Blackwater Park is the best album ever written.
If you like Helmet, try a band from Northern Ireland called Therapy?
And please, my dear

The history of those two bands are related.
Katatonia’s Brave Murder Day From 1996
Had Opeth’s Singer on vocals (except for the song “Day”) + both frontman are best friends.

Thank you for the recommendations. My content follows what is requested from my viewers,
@@kirawasareactor I second The Warning. So many good songs from ballads to hard rock. The song "Sharks" is probably their closest to being metal.
