  • With most popular PA trout streams (Stocked and Wild/Native) experiencing higher fisherman turnout this year, I decided to venture to the Pocono Mountains region to fish a section of an stream that appeared underutilized and underfished. I was pleasantly surprised to have this tributary all to myself and managed to catch Stocked Brown Trout, Wild Brown Trout, and Native Brook Trout over the course of about two hours or so. Good for me.

All browns were wild, perfect clear fins. Stocked browns have more spots. Really nice stream!!!

Great video, love when you make it up my way. Look into the pohopoco in Lehighton, headwaters from beltsville. Right along rt209. If you strike out, the lehigh river is just 3 miles away as well

I've caught a few nice Brownies in this stream, 12-13 inchers. Further upstream a lot of stocked rainbows

I agree usually the class a’s that I’ve been to usually hold really small trout while the bigger creeks like big pine hold creek monsters

the best way to tell if a trout is wild or not is to check the lower rear fin, a white streak = wild/native, no streak = stocker. That 13" brownie was for sure wild.

Sometimes those class A's are a bust. Access can be non-existent, over fished, under preserved, fish taken out, any many other factors. I love fishing the wild streams as well. There can be some hogs in them as well, not common, but it does happen!

Ever use one of those sharpenning pens that Cabelas sells? Improved my hookups substantially.

Man if I can get a bigger fish in the pet store then I leave the little fish alone. I’ve lived in mount pocono for years and there are a ton of better places to find big fish.
