NO extended warranty is available for this tool in South Africa! All you get is the standard 1 year warranty. I received confirmation of this from Bosch in South Africa this afternoon (2 November 2024). For the same tool though, you are able to extend your warranty up to 6 years in Australia and up to 3 years in EU and UK (This is according to the documentation I received with my tool in the box)... so depending where you are in the world, don't forget to extend your warranty is applicable.
You're welcome. Hopefully I'll get around to doing a 6 month / 1 year followup to see how it's holding up. Used it around our yard again 2 days ago, did all the edges with an 8Ah battery (at varying power settings) without problem.
Grant, looks good, a bit wary of Bosch nowadays, from my experience with the 18V series their switches are the first point to fail, I have had failures on my cordless grinder, impact drill, multitool and jigsaw plus a 240V hammer drill, and 240V router, I have also had issues with the 12A battery loosing capacity after about 6 months use, I had an old trimmer with tap head and it stopped working after about 18 months while it was convenient it became frustrating when it refused to feed line, I would like to add a cordless trimmer to my kit, but will stick with my Stihl 2-stroke FS85 for now.
Thanks for the feedback... sounds like a lot of failures, hopefully this one holds up. I've heard that Bosch are known to have some good quality batteries so it's a bit disconcerting hearing that a battery as expensive as the 12Ah might have problems. A bump feed trimmer head not working is the worst... super frustrating, but there normally are aftermarket / replacement heads like the Echo Speedfeed head which I've also heard works well (haven't tried it though). I was actually looking into the Stihl KMA 134R and a line trimmer attachment, but it' a bit more expensive... contractor grade though and twice the power (also has the option for many different heads). Have also got the Stihl MS250 chainsaw and that little machine operates well... I like it.
@@GrantBurton Yes, I don't know why Bosch switches have issues perhaps cheap made part, every tool that failed it was related to the actual switch, Bosch used to be bullet proof nowadays it seems they have lost their reliability.
This Bosch line trimmer is relatively new to market (think it’s only been out about a year) and there aren’t many reviews on it so I thought if I buy and review it, other people might get benefit from the video. Also, the Dewalt trimmer I would like is not available in South Africa.

Definitely getting one once my petrol cutter is done for! Thanks for the great review!

@@-PORK-CHOP- I guess we’ll see what this trimmers switch is like once I teardown the tool.
Hi Grant, why did you go with Bosch over Dewalt with the string trimmer?
