Marty, Thank You for show casing Grace, she is amazing, way beyond her years, and I can't wait to watch her career as a musician. I've only just come across her music; I have a lot of catching up to do. Hypnotic to watch her.
My wife bought me first guitar (acoustic) when I was 25 and I'm completely self taught with a lot of help from Marty. I barely played it for a decade, just off and on. 43 now and I've learned more in the past year than in 17 years. I still play on the same acoustic and I'm actually recording my first full song this weekend. This year was the first year that I could sing while playing. That break through took a long time, but worth all the frustration and effort. If I can learn to sing and play, anybody can. Never give up.👍🏻
Dude you started early enough, dont worry my man. I started guitar at 25, im 28 now and i play/practice everyday, literally, without exception everyday. I played other instruments but no stringed instruments until 25y/o. Ive heard of guys starting in their 50s and they sound decent. Its all about enjoying yourself and expressing your thoughts and emotions, its not about how good you are compared to others. Everyone can improve, even the best if the best.
My problem is i wish i actually practiced harder or took lessons. I think im in a weird position where im way ahead in some aspects by way behind in others
I play guitar on and off my whole life !! But at 47 I started taking fingerstyle real seriously practicing at least 2 hours a day in 20 min blocks .. chet Atkins style and it’s amazing wat you can do if you set your mind to it!!! Brian Ireland 🇮🇪 🎸🎸
Everyone learns and progresses at their own pace. You could move along faster than she did or you could take alot longer to progress. It depends alot on how much time you put into in those years. If you want to get good you should always have a guitar in your hands. Just noodleing or whatever. It’s not about how much time it takes to learn it’s about how much time you put into learning.
@@thejakefromstatefarm6768 my guitar is always in my hands. I'm retired, so I dedicate much energy to improvement. She is very inspiring and my sentiment was for us who are little slower. Lol But of course you're right some pick it up a lot quicker
A young brain learns easier and quicker but it’s never too hard. I started at 19. Couple years and you are sound. No this extent that’s a bit longer and some may never get there
Thanks, Marty! It is awesome to see young people picking up the guitar and getting really good at a young age. I must say, as someone who got told back in the day that 'Girls don't play the electric guitar! You can have piano lessons, but that's it!' - it is great to see young women who are drawn to playing guitar NOT having those barriers in their way. Rock On, Grace!
Grace is now 17 and her incredible talent is taking her to unprecedented success which is so thoroughly deserved. Talented and very beautiful too. Good luck Grace, you deserve success.
Marty is a gif send to many fortunate beginners and intermediate guitar players who want to learn to play songs and learn the fretboard and soloing . His teaching abilities are impeccable and most likely more far reaching than he knows. Thanks Narty fir what you do.
Man it's crazy, I started playing guitar when I was 15 and Marty was one of the only guitar teachers on TH-cam back in the day. I learned almost all of my basics from him too. Now here I am, 27, watching a kid around the same age I started sitting on a couch with Marty. Time flies man.
Marty you've been helping me learn guitar for years now and I really just want to thank you! You explain things better than any guitar teacher I've ever had.
If you can always try to find the best player around in the genre your trying to learn, because if you just learn all the basics on guitar a certain way, it's like pointing you at a direction, say if you want to play country vs rock, or folk singer type song writer stuff, there's definitely ways to curve learning
Love the soul in her playing!! Kind of jealous, but more that my first instrument was saxophone and not guitar. One thing is for sure - we need young players like her to keep guitar playing fresh and alive!!
Grace is the future of guitar. Her head is in the right place and I love her inspiration (of course, I'm old) She's got the skill and the desire. She's looking at the current crop (Dirty Honey & Joyous Wolf) who are really really good and striving for that. She's got nothing but awesome ahead of her.
Im 18 and still trying to improve my technique. Its crazy how people can get so good so fast. You are such a great teacher Mary. Your master of puppets tutorial got me hooked to metal music and now i can nail many cool metal riffs and im writing my own now!
i love her so much, her story about seeing the gnr vid was the EXACT same reason i started. i saw the welcome to the jungle vid around 11 yrs old after hearing the song at a baseball game and it blew my mind, gnr was instantly my favorite band. ive been playing ever since. except im a year older than her and half as good lol
I only came across grace a couple of days ago but I have watched the video of her everyday, What a wonderful kid. What an absolute blast on the guitar🤘🤘🤘✌️✌️✌️
Awesome ! I dreamed of guitar when I was a kid. Didn’t pick one up till much later in life. But it’s full speed ahead. Thanks to Marty. Great to see some amazing new talent that Marty inspired. And thank you for getting me started on my guitar journey Marty.
Great video Marty! Grace seems so nice, she knows what she does, and has a nice smile when talking about guitar, that's georgous! Some talk about her so nice SG would have been perfect too, the bridge is intriguing
Hey Marty, great interview. That young lady has a great future ahead of her. Really enjoy your videos and your zany presentation. You always manage to keep it light and fun with good detail in your instructions. Thx from an old timer trying to learn now that I’m retired. You rock buddy. From Canada with love🤗
Hey Marty, you even have such influence on the last generation of players. I am now 38 and still honing the craft with a video of yours sometimes. Thanks for your work!
I just started playing guitar a couple weeks ago im 26 my only regreat is even tho ive always been so passionate about music (i sing btw) ive never picked a guitar in all these years even tho i wanted to, now that i finally bought myself an telecaster im just scared and sad that i probably gonna be good at it when im thirty something😢 im probably gonna be old when i finally learn
I've been playing guitar since I saw The Beatles on TV on Ed Sullivan. I'm hitting 70 this month. Grace is one of my new inspirations. (I bought an Epiphone SG Special P90 because of her! 😁) She's impressive, for sure. I hope to hear more from her in the future.
Glad to see she's going places. I have been watching her on youtube thinking she was great but didn't know she was already on her way up. Good luck to her.
Wow..that kid is definitely going to be great, looks like she's got a bright future ahead 👍and Marty, good job on being such a POSITIVE mentor to so many of us. Keep up the great work brother..
Bc of internet it’s so easy to learn to play now. Back in the 70’s we had to buy the music you wanted to learn, then learn it by ear. Incredible young musicians popping up bc of TH-cam.
Hey Marty, I just wanted to say thank you because when I was 14-15 you really provided an easy understanding and informative way of teaching guitar. You were all out a cool dude and a fun teacher and I hope your kids know what an awesome dad they have!
I'm 15, about to turn 16 in 1 month and seeing Grace gives me so much inspiration, I've been playing guitar for about 3 months already and I really want to play shows and possibly make my own band in the future! Also if any experienced guitarists see this could you maybe share some advice?
Cool as Salted Butter Fudge! With minty ice Cream. On a Winters night. With snow falling outside the Veranda, and a Robin just flicked to say hello, they always come back.
Her level of playing & maturity are both way beyond her years. I love that she wanted to be cool like Slash , Angus and Jimmy P, and now the next generation will want to be cool like Grace Bowers.
Normally u see a TH-cam title like this they show the kid and they are OK…. Obviously good for age but nothing like this…that was phenomenal you can tell by watching her right hand for 2 seconds how good she is
i didn't know Marty before, but i need to state here that seeing Grace made me wanna grab my guitar after too many years. and yeah - skateboarding - jeez, that's just wow.
Marty rocks he was the first TH-cam guitarist I started following and recently discovered Grace through Jax Hollow, who I just interviewed- Ladies rock
She's amazing!don't take this the wrong way. But youtube and technology of today is a great way to get good fast. I would have loved to have had so many platforms to learn. So younger players man use it all and you will be great. Alot faster than how I had to learn.
I’m 45 and I will not get that level, but I’m also fortunate I had your videos, Marty. If I had to choose, I would prefer by far my cheap epiphone SG signed by you rather than Slash or whoever great inspiration artist. Cheers from Spain.

as a fellow 16 year old guitarist who’s been playing for just shy of a year, this gives me something to aspire to!! Loved watching this ❤
Im so glad for you! Im 13, and I have played for 2 years now! I will continue! You are very impressive!
Keep it up
She can definitely play. But I can't get over how awesome her hair is.
Her hair is ALMOST...as awesome as her playing.

Guitarists like Grace really make me wish I started at a younger age, but then again, I’m still 16 now and I will continue to play and improve.

Nice kid and talented. Good to hear youngsters like her…
So if she started at 9 or 10, and at 16 she is this good, it gives us new players a range of years to get better.
You are inspiring young lady!

From my understanding and largely got this good in around 2-3 years since she really started dedicating time to it during covid…
