Knots like this always make me wonder how on earth people got the idea of doing something like that with a piece of rope. They must have had a lot of time on their hands. Amazing. Nice tuto, thanks!

I'm only a beginner but I like the look of this so I thought I would give it a try. On my first attempt I ended up with something almost but not quite exactly unlike your picture, as Douglas Adams might have said .! It's a great tutorial. Plafond, incidentally, is the French word for ceiling.

Very cool. Can't imagine trying to think that one up!

I’m taking a guess on tbe length of the rope, makeing it 1 meter. Will let you know how it turned out. I will be using 1.5 mm Ø micro cord.
Edit: 3 attempts, lol, but here is my perfect little mini knot ❤ Still love your tutorials!
1 meter equals about 3.28 foot, which was alittle too long for the micro cord, but that’s better than too short

It's now a month on from my comment below and my first attempt to tie this knot. My first attempt made me realise that you can't be an expert from day one and that you should practice all the very easy knots until you become familiar with a handful of cord but always seems to have a life of it's own. I thought I'd come back and have another go, and with lots of wisdom such as making sure that your cord is at least a foot longer than you actually think you'll need because it makes it a lot easier. I followed instructions perfectly and ended with a horrible tangle. I will be back with another update in a month's time...!

Hands down the easiest way to tie this knot. The triple, quad, etc versions of this knot can be tied by simply adding an extra 1/2 knot (before running the working ends down through the top) and pulling a third set of two loops from the bottom to the top before tightening. For the quad version just double the instructions for a triple, and so on.

As you probably know this is a chiral knot and hence not superimposable on its mirror image. Interestingly, the plafond knot tied following you nice video yields the mirror image of knot number 807 in The Ashley Book of Knots.

Yeah it's a difficult one. I think everyone finds it hard the very first time they try it. I remember I did. Glad you finally got it though!
