    Thank G'd. The fancy guys in the industry are coming back to their senses. 29", 27.5", let us choose what we want, what we need.

      Im looking for a new bike & so frustrated by the choice. I want a lighter bike (13kg), shorter travel (130/130) & short wheelbase, but everything is going the opposite way to the extreme. There is nothing I want to buy. Ill probably go for YT Izzo since its 29 or nothing thee days.

    Good looking Pivot rig!
    Nice to see someone reviewing 27,5 wheels and also companies that are still having full 27,5 options.
    I recently built up a 2022 Nukeproof Mega 275 and I already have a Steel Stanton 29er Hardcore Hardtail. The Mega is so much fun, playful, and agile through corners despite being long.
    I would definitely take 29ers for long munching miles and for comfort and 27,5 for a more jibby and just pure fun.
    I think in the right hands with the right skills a 27.5 can be as fast as a 29er.

    Can't go back to 27.5 if you never left! I've never ridden a 29er, doesn't seem necessary.
    This bike looks so rad. For what I like and what I ride, pivot made the perfect bike. And that pink/ purple frame color they have is amazing. Just out of my price rance currently.

      We'd certainly say it's worth trying a 29" wheel bike if you haven't already, as they definitely have their own benefits. But this is a rad bike for sure.

      Everyone who says this ends up trying a 29er and never going back

    I bought a 429 this year and after demoing a shadowcat, I put my 429 up for sale to get a shadowcat. I got the 429 originally because I thought it would climb better than the cat and I really didn’t need the “bigger” suspension bay after riding the cat, it climbs just as well as the 429 and is actually lighter than my 429 and that suspension has a much more plush feeling. If I can’t sell my 429 in exchange for the cat, I’m definitely gonna put some light carbon 27.5” wheels on the 429. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a little of that shadowcat feel with the 429.

    Good to see 27.5s getting some love. The Shadowcat looks a lot like the Mach 5.5 (geo is quite similar too!) which is one of my favorite bikes.

    Literally have had one for a little over 2 months and I love it with a passion.

    My main bike is a 27.5. I've been giving 29er a fair try recently, and JUST recently borrowed a mixed wheeled bike to compare them all.
    I like them all, but I still prefer the 27.5 hands down.
    Please bike manufacturers, keep making quality 27.5 with decent travel options across the board, i.e. long travel, mid travel, AND short travel.

    I bought one of these a month ago, size small. I'm 5'6" and am coming from a Bronson medium(correct size based on website fitting).
    I love this Pivot, it is much easier for me to flick around and move around on. I think the review is spot on. My Bronson is a rocket downhill with no worries, but much less playful. I do need to think more on the Pivot, but it's a worthwhile trade-off for me.

    Great video. Demoed one last month. Such a fun bike to ride! So much that it made me contemplate throwing Strava PR efforts out the window and just have fun riding...living in he moment. I could see myself getting a serious "downenduro" e-bike and a Shadowcat for 75% of my riding.

    Nice review. I like to see more 27.5 bikes.
    Fyi. You noted Grip2 fork, but I see a fit4 fork.
    I guess this to save weight.

      @TheLoamWolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, we made an error in the video, well spotted! In the article we talk about the Fit4 - we'd rather see a Grip2 for our personal preferences.

    Last year got a Remedy 9.8 before its gone. Tried 29er thing is they are cool and all and faster , but faster also mean the ride is gone sooner. 27.5 makes it last longer and feel the trail with more finesse instead of just monster truck through it

    What’s your thoughts about this vs the new yeti sb135? Can we get a long term sb135 review? In utah so high speed does happen but I do have an enduro bike to cover super high speeds… maybe a 27.5 bike for a second shorter travel/lighter bike

  • @PeteMac69
    @PeteMac69 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interested to hear how it compares to the SB135? Both high end 27.5's so seems an obvious head to head test required please👍

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We have both bikes and will be putting one time on the 135, so stay tuned for a bit of a reference in the SB video.

      The Sb135 is 33 lbs give or take. Guess which will climb better! I demoed the Shadowcat at south mountain and Crested Butte. Climbs really well and quite stable on techy descending

    This bike vs. Mojo HD5? I'm sad that Ibis doesn't do full 27.5 anymore. I don't like 29ers or mullets at all.

    6’5 dude calling 27.5 wee tires. Not all of us are build like William Wallace pal, 27.5 is fine unless you’re doing DH all day.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! We agree, but compared to the standard 29" wheel for a trail bike these days, they are notably smaller...

    27.5 ……a small wheel ?

      Smaller than the now "standard" 29" wheels for trail mountain bikes.

    I love the pivot bikes they have some of the best mountain bikes on the market but 27.5 wheels should not be on this bike or any other bike lol that’s just my opinion
