Just recently found your channel, great videos! I think the problem is not Apple Pay, it's that you are using the Amex card from your apple wallet when you try to pay - I use Apple Pay pretty much everywhere here in Paris and surrounding cities, but I go through the Visa in my apple wallet. And we do have Amex, but it's mostly department stores, designer stores or malls. If you want to buy your pastries and bread, it has to be Visa indeed...

Love the ultra videos mate! 😎With the ultra, i use my phone even less than ever, and love it! I work in construction/metal fab and ive hit my ultra so many times, without even a scratch! I hope one day the watch will eliminate the need for a phone 🤙🏼

Another great video! Interesting to see the GPS comparisons with pace and distance. This is the sort of thing that gives me (a data-obsessed Garmin user since 2006) heart palpitations...but I'm also re-evaluating how "perfect" I need my training data as I get older and shift my priorities. The lifestyle features of the Apple Watch are hands-down amazing and why I still have my Series 7. *This* close to pulling the trigger on the Ultra to replace my Series 7/955 combo.
Yeah I kind of feel the same. On most race days my Apple Watch S7 is pretty much spot on the distance and if I miss a couple of small details on training day it might be okay

It is clear that there is a difference between the two watches when it comes to mileage measurement. Garmin specifically has a note on their website about GPS drift. So at this point it is hard to tell which one is accurate. I have completed several marathons where Garmin says I ran 26.6 miles. A course that is measured would be the best place to do a comparison test in my opinion. Do enjoy the travel vids. I get to live vicariously through you as I slog it out at the office.

What running apps do you use for directions? Especially for trail running too?
Hello there ! As far as I know, Apple Pay is accepted everywhere maybe it’s because your Apple Pay is linked to your American Express card ?
I had the exact same problem. On a 10KM run I had a difference of 10% in distance. So AW Ultra 9KM and Garmin Fenix 6s Pro 10KM. This also messes the pace up. 5:29 AW Ultra vs 5:05 Garmin Fenix 6s Pro.
What to do about this? I read somewhere that AW needs to calibrate but 10% on a 10KM run is quite some gab…

Nice video, apple pay is nowadays accepted in Europe. But most of the store only accept visa or mastercard. Amex is to expensive for the stores

Amex isn’t even widely used in Canada so not sure why anyone think it would be popular in Europe. I was just in France for a month, including Paris. I did not use anything other than Apple Pay (MC or Visa) while in Paris for a few days except for the Metro. Which brings up an important point: American credit cards are mostly chip and signature cards where as in the modern world (e.g. Canada and Europe) credit cards are chip and PIN. Despite what your credit card issuer may tell you, travel with a chip and signature card is going to bite you at some point if you spend enough time in Europe and have to deal with offline transaction terminals (some gas stations, train platforms, etc.). You can usually just whip out a debit card if you run into this problem because those are chip and PIN.
American Express is just pain in the butt. Universally not accepted except mostly at luxury places. At least it’s like that outside the US. The reason for that is outrageously high fees that are charged to merchants. Long live VISA and Mastercard.

Altitude on your devices works with ambient airpressure and airplanes have pressurized cabins so you get enough oxygen into your lungs (less overall pressure would also mean less partial oxygen pressure, so less oxygen gets to your brain -> bad thing). They both give you the "cabin altitude" pretty accurately but that's not the airplanes altitude.

Amex is not accepted in most places outside the US! In Canada I was told they charge over 4% per transaction thus retailers don’t want to pay that much
One thing ive learned over and over from your travel videos: American Express SUCKS! lol, otherwise super enjoy just running around chilling with you as you nerd hard on the Ultra!
Great video as ever. Just to say that American Express charge retailers very high service chargers, so a lot of retailers in Europe just don’t bother with them.

That’s weird you could not use Apple Pay on manny places? Garmin pay is available on pretty much every contactless sales point as it’s linked to your normal bank card? Have you tried paying with Garmin pay?
A lot of places in the UK and Europe don't take American Express, I've been told it's because their transaction charges are a lot higher. Amex isn't really that popular over here in 🇬🇧

Contactless payment aka Apple Pay is standard in Europe. Cash is bearly used
I live in Brussels and here cash is used more than contactless

Yo Shervin!! You travel with the Apple Ultra watch on Verizon or AT&T? I have both the Apple Ultra Watch 1&2 on AT&T because of these videos & love for tech! Just wanted to confirm my cellular would work on my Watch if I travel to Canada.
Maybe the watch is crap like their iPhones.
