    I’m very impressed with Vtines too, and the controls allow a large amount of versatile tones. Great overview!

    Duuuuuuuuude! The jolly handsome axe murderer beard is looking absolutely dashing! You really have a great feel on the leccy piano man. I’ve often thought about this concept for a video because I do love a Rhodes sound. But I’m not qualified to make it so I’m glad you did and you made a 1st rate job of it. Stage Mark 2 sounded best to my ears. I have Neo-Soul Keys 2 but often use House 1 instead because it sits in a mix so easily. Love your videos Dave Man!

    Thanks Davey! We appreciate you trying out HOUSE MARK I. The low volume is intentional. KG & Henny like lots of headroom to go into an SSL board. It's funny, beta testers like Jordan Rudess & Justin Gilbert thought the output was still too hot. I guess everyone wants different output levels 😂

    • @DaveypooMMM
      @DaveypooMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey - thanks for filling in some additional detail, Matt! I figured there was a reason as Henny doesn't strike me as someone to make a choice like that lightly. Each app here has advantages and tone-sets that the others don't. And hey - we DEFINITELY need more Rhodes in the world! ;)

    • @RevellingTerror
      @RevellingTerror 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps there could be a Hi / Low parameter setting for each gain stage? So for example the pre amp could be cranked up but leave the final stage lower with more headroom?

    • @DaveypooMMM
      @DaveypooMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RevellingTerror I agree - I see the utility in having a lower gain stage for outputting from the iPad, but I'm only using it internally on the iPad, so to have it be comparable in gain to the other apps would be helpful. Thanks for the suggestion, James - hope you're hanging in there, my friend!

    Amazing job, Davey!!!! In last few weeks Electric Vintage was my favorite. You made great thing with the NSKS2! The first one I like most. Great comparison of the higher end! But now Colossus got a lot of bug fixes, so I'm spending some time on checking it. And now's the next thing: responsiveness. I use StudioLogic SL88 Studio keybed, which seems to me the best solution (weight of the gear is important to me too), and now there are some factors like latency, and even more important, the feel!
    That's the reason, why I'm still tring the Colossus Electric Pack - because with this hard/software combination (all apps thru Keystage) gives me feel even better than my formerly owned Rhodes (may be not the best production piece).
    Greetings!
    P.S. Colossus is opposite to House. In AUM I used to attenaute it ca. -9 dB.

      Unfortunately I don't have Colossus, so it wasn't one I could compare but I'll have to look into it. Glad you liked the video!

    Great video, I really love these hands-on comparisons! EV is my favorite and my go-to app whenever I want a Rhodes sound to play live. In mixes, NSK is a beast that is difficult to beat as it offers really many different flavors that you don't really need to tweak your sound so much. Vtines has a price tag that at the moment, for me, is a little bit overpriced. Anyhow, thanks again for the nice video! Grazie mille e buona Pasqua!

    I like House Mark I the best because it is more manageable in the mix. I wanna be able to add effects without it distorting so quickly.

    • @DaveypooMMM
      @DaveypooMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair enough - each user has to determine what they need out of each app. The goal here was to simply show off the tone-sets of each app as compared to each other.

      I used NSKS2 with AUM and Keystage, and now with the Keystage exclusively. Never crashed. Write to BM3 developer, send him crashlogs - if possible; I think here's a problem, incompatibility between apps.

    This is a very considered comparison and I appreciate you not holding back on your preference. I recently made a video where I played House: Mark 1 alongside my 1978 Rhodes Mark 1 th-cam.com/video/ZFtmV8hF8pMg/w-d-xo.html Spoiler alert: unless you get really analytical about key release noise and velocity response, the two are sonically not so far apart. So I think your Rhodes-off reinforces that there’s more to a subjectively good Rhodes sound than authenticity alone.

    • @DaveypooMMM
      @DaveypooMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree - it all boils down to personal taste. In the same way that same model cars drive different or same year guitars have different shades of tones, so do electric pianos. They all have a personality, so you have to find the one that fits your mood/preference. I'm sure I could get over the low gain output of House Mark I, but the weird velocity layers were the main turn off, It doesn't suit my sloppy, slap-at-the-keys playing but that's OK. None of these are unusable, and clearly Henny & Co. had a specific use case for their app, so they designed it in kind. I just want to be able to show these next to each other as for me it's the best way to know which I prefer. I can't tell the difference in two different bourbon whiskeys until I try them right next to each other - EPs are similar.
