After losing his friend Bradley Nowell to a heroin overdose, Todd Zalkins aka "Z-MAN" fights for his life in what will become the worst drug crisis in American History, the Opioid Epidemic. Against all odds, Todd is able to break a seventeen-year addiction to prescription painkillers and dedicates his life to helping others who struggle with addiction. In a twist of fate, Todd is presented with an opportunity to help Bradley Nowell's son, Jakob battle his own addiction with drugs and alcohol. A story of redemption, and recovery, The Long Way Back shatters the stigma associated with prescription painkiller addiction and offers a strong message of hope and awareness.
This documentary changed my life! After watching it I checked myself into a program. I reached out to Todd and he has been a godsend! If it wasn’t for this movie and Todd I’d probably be dead or still using under a bridge somewhere! 10/7/2019 I got sober! There is a part in the film where Jack talks about being more of a man to say you are defeated and to walk into rehab.Than to say I’m a man and can take care of this alone. That part really stuck with me! I had to have knee surgery and was worried about after surgery pain management. So I reached out to Todd and he helped me through it! Even offered to call me and give me a pep talk before surgery. I was able to get through it without relapsing! Todd and this movie saved my life! Addiction ruined me financially as well! But I’m clean and sober and working my way out of debt. I can only go forward from this point! I will never touch opiates again! It truly is the Long Way Back! Thank you Todd and everyone else in this film!
Way to go, bro. Checking myself into residential rehab was one of the hardest but smartest things I ever did. Four years nine months clean today. How are you doing, I see it’s been a couple of years since you wrote this comment.
@squattingtonfattsworth I’ve stayed clean coming up on 4 years now! Thanks for the message and congrats on getting clean as well. I haven’t touched a opioid or anything else in 4 years! I’ve had two surgeries since getting clean! I had knee surgery and the Dr wanted to give me Norco and I told him No. I also had a work accident where I almost cut two fingers off on the tablesaw. Had surgery the following morning and again the Dr wanted to give me Norco for pain and again I refused! I was able to manage my pain with Tylenol and ibuprofen! And to tell you the truth the pain wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be and Tylenol and ibuprofen was all I needed. And Todd gave me a pep talk before my knee surgery and that meant the world to me! And I didn’t want to let him or myself down! Todd even said it was ok to take pain pills after a surgery under a doctor’s supervision but that would of pushed my sober date to the day I stopped taking the pain pills and I didn’t want to give up my sober date of 10/07/2019! And I am still sober! 100% sober too! No alcohol or anything! My life is so much better without all that stuff! Keep up the good work and stay sober my friend!

Rest In Peace my brother your loved and missed deeply thank you for all your great music you left behind it really makes a difference the way I see things i literally cried my eyes out
Just finished watching the documentary on Prime and it blew me away. So much pain, honesty, hope, and good music. I really hope the people who need this film take the time to watch.
I just need to know what is the song at the very end when the dedication shows and the credits start? Lyrics saying ‘They never seem to do it like they do in my head’ I can’t seem to find it and it’s absolutely beautiful!
Man, Jakob sounds so much like Brad when he's singing at the end! Chills....
those were my immediate thoughts after watching this!
I was listening from the other room and didn't realize it was Jakob for a good minute there o.O
Muse Rediscovered he still doesn’t have the passion in his voice or the emotion
You must be on some good shit to think that.
Listen to his band LAW... They are sooo dope! 🔥🤙🔥🤙🔥 Check it
I hung with Z-man while working with Sublime as their ship was begining to sail, really nice guy
Nowell was one of the great ones. Along with Cobain, morrison, hendrix etc. I could keep going, the list goes on. Drugs just ruin so much. They will always have a special place in rock and roll. What they could've become...sad. 😥😥😥
I've been waiting for this story for years apon years. It's finally here! 🙏🔥💙🤙RIP Bradley
Titling this as a promo/trailer would be nice.
Streamed this yesterday with the redhead who was my high-school sweetheart from 1993-1994 and it was transcendental.
That redhead broke things off in 1995 and disappeared for 15 years.
In 2010 MySpace found her for me...
In 2013 I married her...
Yesterday we watched this time machine cleverly disguised as a documentary and it all came back with unrelenting ferocity. We almost forgot how much we fucking love Sublime.
"Niki & Josh" 1994-1995, 2010 - ?
U ok bro?
Wow... I thought that was Brad singing
Dude i gotta get this flick. Drug addiction is a vicious cycle. Obviously we KNOW why they exist and their purpose. to ease chronic pain, anxiety, depression etcetera etcetera... But when you get sucked into creating that false reality. The false reality becomes your actual reality. Want to stop the war on drugs? Cure pain... not so easy. Drugs are a necessary evil in society. It just sucks hardcore when they engulf an entire mind body and soul that is fucking influential to so many people and destroy that person...
can someone please tell me the song starting at 0:13?
@Oz Millz The song is the title track from the film, "The Long Way Back" by Z-Man & The Keys. The band that recorded it "The Keys" features Jack Maness (LBDAS) on Keys and Vox, Greg "Mudd" Lowther (Perro Bravo/ Falling Idols) on Drums, Mic Dangerously (Zen Robbi/Jelly of the Month Club) on backing Vox and Z-Man on lead vox. It was written and produced by Lewis Richards (17th St.Studios) Todd Zalkins, and Mike Meeker. The OFFICIAL VIDEO for the song is finished and will be out soon! you can buy the song here

+The Long Way Back Film Thank you so much! I will definitely buy it.
me being a heroin addict, I can fucking relate
There was a song playing on the radio back around 2009-2010 that featured some members of sublime and 311 and one of the lyrics was we can run away and live by the ocean. I think another lyric was crash our car and live by the ocean. I’m not talking about the ever clear song,it’s another song. I like the song, heard it a couple of times but can’t remember the name. Can anybody think of what song im talking about?
That’s a dirty heads song ft Rome
