There are a lot of encaustic experiments in this one, some of which worked and some that didn't. Fusing with fabric is a very interesting way to add create a unique surface on your encaustic paintings.
It’s amazing how art pieces tell you what they want to be. And usually, when you have a set idea & keep forging ahead regardless, you usually end up not happy with it.

Fun experiments. I love how the oil paint wiped off looks compared to the same technique on a smooth panel.
You might try dipping the fabric into the encaustic then squeegeeing it onto a pretty warm substrate to better ensure long-term adhesion.

I 100% love what happened with this piece as it "taught" you what it wanted to be! I also love the way you gave yourself to the process and talked us through what was happening and what was revealed. I really adore this. Your attitude is so cool, calm and collected.... nothing is a mistake, it's all an experiment and a learning curve and with your many years of experience.... the outcome is fascinating.

I saw some really gorgeous encaustic pieces on Instagram that used torn encaustic dipped pages to build up layers of lines. I like this technique too. And the end result looks great. Definitely full of texture!

I’ve seen people use a simple piece of blue painters tape to tape (mask) off the edge they want less wax on and simply add more and more layers to the side you want to have more (higher) wax. They also lightly fuse each layer to smooth it out. TFS! I love your piece❤️

Did you fuse after the India ink? This is beautiful.
No, you don't need to.
What was the material that you used? I have a question when your finished do you rub a cloth over it.
I used plain muslin. I had to let it dry for a couple days, but I usually don't rub my paintings with a cloth unless they have a smooth surface and I want it to be glossy.
