This video is great bud 👍 I've just filled a shock and closed the lid and the piston only pops out about 5mm smaller than yours in the vid, it's full to top and clear you can see right through no bubbles is that OK only 5mm piston popping out ? Thanks mate
I was wondering what weight oil to use. 50w seems pretty good. The stock oil is terrible and one of my shocks didn't have any oil in, well if it did it all escaped somewhere.
Mine had zero oil in the first car zero in the upgraded black shocks and my 2and car had far too much in its madness quality control or lack of lol.yeah I've found 50 weight to be really good especially with a set of upgraded springs which are under £3 on ebay type in L2040 1/10 in ebay worth the money
@@bigbeardrc4145 Thanks buddy I will defo get the springs. I've got a full metal replacement kit in grey/titanium coming so Ill do that to the new shocks. I noticed you said the upgrades are the same as the stock shocks but internally the upgrades have a circlip holding the piston while stock have a pin through holding the piston. It probably makes no difference but do you know if the shock shafts are the same diameter, stock ones are weak.
Thanks for the vid, question tho, can I use any silicone based wt oil? Like if there's any real car shock oil can I use that in an rc if it has wt on it
My shocks are terrible back bottoms out so easily so I got upgraded springs I only have 350cst atm but would 600-650 be about right for a dirt race track with a few jumps.. standard seems way to soft
Hey buddy yeah 600 or 640 with the upgraded springs will be good I'd be tempted to try the 350 first with the uprated springs see how you like it easy to change if not
@@mrdangerdanger2189 if that's the case take some fluid out of the 2 that are tight and try again the shaft should push all the way in and push itself out slightly without the spring fitted

@@bigbeardrc4145 hey so I changed my rear shocks, and it was 35 weight, not 40, that was my mistake; and now the rear end actually sits considerably lower, I haven’t done the front yet, and it seems to be sitting at full extension on the shocks. Cheers for the excellent tutorial! Great videos mate, much appreciated!
Good stuff as usual bro

Yep as long as it fully compresses and pops back out when the springs on it will be perfect

Yes then once top screwed on push the piston all the way in and out

i have 2 shocks staying not strong with oil on my wltoys 144001. other two stay strong. how is that posseble. are these shocks defect? i see no leaks
