Sooooo I changed my shock oil the other night and now my rustler handles better!!! Gentlemen thank you soooooo much for your how to videos!!! I'm looking forward to more how to's, and unboxing videos from you guys. I'd love to see you step it up and take the vehicles out and punish them right out of the box.
Thanks buddy.., I'm doing my shocks while watching this video. hitting pause and play as i'm doing it . I bought some shocks on Amazon, they came with NO OIL IN THEM... so take them apart before installing them. NO MATTER WHAT THE BOX SAYS...
You guys are the go to source for rc tips and help. Great show to watch that's makes you feel very confident with the information obtained. Keep it up guys 👌🏾
Question, need advice: I own an Arrma Big Rock and just bit the bullet and got the proline shocks. I live in Florida where it is always hot so I am going to have to test different oil weights to see which is the best for me. My question is, what weights should I buy to test with? I already have 60 & 35 weight. Which other weights should I get? Thanks in advance.
What does it mean if the shocks dont have rebound? 3 out of 4 new shocks dont have rebound and i followed every step to the t, i didnt see and bubbles either??
Can I use car motor oil or transmission fluid? Somehow my shock cap unscrewed its self and it bleed out all the fluid and it's all I have my nearest hobby shop is 35 minutes away and I cant drive yet.
You can, but it is a question how your shocks are going to perform. You also have o-rings in these shocks, if your transmission oil is petrol based then it will damage o-rings.
What about rebuilding shocks because I'm restoring two emax 3906 that is Totally Rusty I bought new hardware bearing shocks but can I rebuild the old shocks I bought traxxas shock oil every weight
Hey guys enjoying your videos but the shocks on this 1/10 HSP truck have a ball at top and hex on bottom , how do you remove the ball top section off the ball without damaging please
Great video! Just subscribed. WHat model hand held video camera was used to make this video? ALSO, what's that cool orange stand you have that held the shocks secure & vertical when letting them rest?
Hi y'all!! Hey I just bought a set of inner spring shocks it came with three different sets of spring in the package my question is do they also take oil because there was no oil inside shocks ? Thx y'all ✌️ wanted to add that there going on my 10th scale rock crawler in case that matters ✌️
Most shocks come with oil already in them and I'm not an rc expert so don't take this 100.1 percent lol but mine came with oil in them and some shocks you have to fill yourself and some come prefilled but you can look more into the info yourself but if that helped you then I'm glad
Ok so i repeated the process you guys showed me on all my shocks 2-3 times. Soo my question is why or what is it that will not let the shock to rebound. I did everything step by step and a few of them wont do nothing no rebound no anything. What should I do (ps sorry if im confusing you guys)
I understood all steps, tried it here with sunflower oil on old shocks (just to practice). The step where you push the shaft back in and than screw the cap on: Why?! What can go wrong if you leave the shaft/piston completely stick out while you screw the cap on? Too much rebound then? Too much inside pressure? Risk of leakage?
This was to set the rebound. In our case full rebound for off road use. Leaving shaft in other place will change the way your suspension work/react etc
It depends on how you use it. I usually do mines before every weekend. I check rebound and if I don't like it, I add oil really quick. The suspension is your grip and grip is important.
Good work Gents, very late in the piece but researching a vid for a friend, I came across this one... 5th time over till I found the correct way...seriously...still was way quicker than explaining on the phone... Go TH-cam!! Glad you, Roger are on it. Happy to link this vid to anyone on the planet cos' this is the exact same way I was taught back in 1988... yep.. I'm that old.. silicone oil is more plentiful, cars are faster and the RC community still has dicks in it....hahaha. Love the channel gents.. hope you guys are still doing super well!! Big cheers from Aus!
Heck yeah go speed shop didn't realize you guys were on youtube I was just at your shop last week .....great shop great people thanks for your guys help when I come in much love
I got one of my shocks open and refilled it but the others won’t budge. No matter how hard I flex and scream and try, the other 3 shocks will not open. Any tips?
i think its more the springs than anything, i had the same problem and instead of buying new ones i just took them off and stretched them out, seemed to work pretty good
I used a block of Styrofoam with holes I pushed thru it to hold my shocks upright. Free and effective. 👌 Don't need fancy holders unless u race and rebuild your shocks every race day. 👍✌
Its not "bad", but it is not suggested either. Different fluids, have different thickness and you'll get inconsistency with your absorption by mixing them.
This video is 5 years old and it's still helping people. Thanks, guys!
I know this video is old, but damn it was perfect. If you guys are still making videos out there, I appreciate the knowledge.
Awesome video you guys just got my first car truck about 6 months ago AND IM 54

Amazing video guys
That's a cool truck stand. Wish I had one but don't really wanna spend the money for it
You guys are awesome
Awesome! Imagine his Dodge!! ...Very informative!
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thank you! This was very helpful. I am planning on getting some new shocks for my Arrma Granite. I appreciate ya'll's videos! Very informative

We're happy to help!
I just did it! Love the video guys! Keep it up.
thanks for help - one week ago i get old tamiya grasshopper and suspension is totally dead. well i open and is no oil inside.
Awesome, good suspension setup makes a big difference!
thanks for making this vidio this gone help me a lot
Just the info I needed thank you
thank you both
Happy to help!
Thank you guys so much for the tip! :)
Anytime! thanks for your feedback!
Great help
thank you very much for the video
Thanks for your feedback!
That looks awesome 👌🏻
Thank you Trevor👍
Off road mainly. Thank you very much
More jumps and higher speeds needs more viscosity. Stock 30 is for mild off road and slower speeds.

Before removing shock caps clean the shock really good because you don’t want dirt etc falling into the shock.
thank you so much for the helpful vid.
You're very welcome
Thank you for the upload! It was Very Helpful! To figure out the size of a Rc 1/10 shock do you just measure hole to hole to get the size? 🤘👽
great job!!

How often you change the oil on the shock
Thanks guys👍🙂 It was very easy. But you learn it to me. Or show it to me. Thanks . Great Video. New sub🙂

Hold on lemme just: 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺
Could you use any lubricating oil? I understand how getting proper oil would work better but I’m curious
No, just silicone with certain viscosity

So on a buggy is it good to have rebound or not

It is hard to say without seeing it, but most likely not enough shock oil.
What is that orange stand that you are snapping your shock into in between fills?
I understood all steps, tried it here with sunflower oil on old shocks (just to practice). The step where you push the shaft back in and than screw the cap on: Why?! My shocks don't seem to have any sort of bladder under the cap. What do I need to do differently?

RC Street Shop thank you 🙏
If I pick 100 oil,it will bounce more.right?
Liked and subscribed.
Thank you 👍
I am not saying anything bad, I am just a weirdo and feel that it was a waste of fluid. But I know it is what it is. Thank you for the video
You're welcome.
What weight shock oil do you recommend for traxxas 2wd big foot and 4x4 slash.
Depends on what you plan to do... stock is 30.....40 sounds a bit more reasonable
again, it really depends on many other things
I've just bought a set of upgraded aluminium shocks for my 1/10th scale 2wd buggy. What cst weight would you recommend to fill them with please?
It depends on where you run it. Stock is 30W
I run it off and on road for general bashing but nothing over demanding. Thanks for the reply.
Why do you say to push the piston in 1/2 to 3/4 of the way before placing the cap on?
This is to set your re-bound.
Thanks!!!
Anytime!
hey how much weight should i pit in my 1/10 scale monster truck (exceed rc dynamite) i got alot of aluminum upgrades
How often should you change your shock oil? Every month.

Thank you Steve! You know the saying, old school or no school! hehe Stay safe!
Heck yeah go speed shop didn't realize you guys were on youtube I was just at your shop last week .....great shop great people thanks for your guys help when I come in much love
My shock oil was vantablack in color 😂 I guess thats what happens when your car is from 2006!
I got one of my shocks open and refilled it but the others won’t budge. No matter how hard I flex and scream and try, the other 3 shocks will not open. Any tips?
I don't know how old your shocks are, but regardless oil won't seize etc, so maybe just try harder or get special pliers and do it with a tool.
RC Street Shop mine are pretty old. The oil that goes into it is clear and the stuff that came out was straight black
If its an old truck it is very could be that all the rubber components dried out. Definitely get a repair kit and change o-rings along with oil.
This video was very helpful thank you guys. :)
We are happy to help!
Great vid guys i have a XMAXX what wieght do u recommend for bashing
1-2million is what we use
@@Rcstreetshop ahhhh is that 40w lol
That was for diffs, with shocks start with 60W
@@Rcstreetshop im running 40w in front 60w in rear
Thx geeks❤
How often should you do it? once a year? what oil weight is common for running out in the yard and street?
yeah once a year is fine, 30wt is stock, i run 40 in the front and 50 in the back(more weight in the back) its really up to you, i like my setup
what happen when ur 4 shock no rebound?wht should I do?i forgot to change my shock oil...the oil is very dirty...now i hv losi 60 wt.
i think its more the springs than anything, i had the same problem and instead of buying new ones i just took them off and stretched them out, seemed to work pretty good
How do you do it with bleeder hole ..thats the question
What if I put cooking oil
hey guys, will one of those bottles fill all 4 slash 4x4 shocks(stock shocks)
Absolutely! One bottle is enough even for big bores!
Anytime!
I read on google it says that you can use any kind of oil so does that mean I can use pellet gun oil
I looked up on google and it says that you can use any oil
Will this work if I fill it with four cycle engine oil
(More specifically HD SAE 30)
It will, but not the same way as silicone oil for shocks.
Does it work for a TLR 40 shock oil on a traxxas slash 2WD
Absolutely. Especially, if you do a lot of jumps!
Can you use any shock oil on any shocks?
Yes you may use any silicone shock fluid for RC cars.
@@Rcstreetshop Could you use any brand shock on any brand car assuming that both shocks are the same length.
if I don't have a shock holder while waiting for bubbles, what else can I use to hold it?
Any tool holder will work
I used a block of Styrofoam with holes I pushed thru it to hold my shocks upright. Free and effective. 👌 Don't need fancy holders unless u race and rebuild your shocks every race day. 👍✌
Hello, can I use 90 grade gear oil ( gear box ,diff oil ) that is used in every motor vehicle on our roads today .
Thanks
For shocks?
Yes for the front shocks on my xmaxx
You have to use rc silicone oil with graded viscosity (aka shock oil). This is the only way to set it up right (and it is fairly inexpensive too)
We can't get that shock oil in New Zealand
Wow, send us a line on buy@rcstreetshop.com, we'll send you some 👍
Is mixing shock fluid bad?
Its not "bad", but it is not suggested either. Different fluids, have different thickness and you'll get inconsistency with your absorption by mixing them.
had a car for about 2 years never changed the shock oil changed it for the first time and it was black 3.0
iiiiiiiim Roger!! 😂
Squid from hell LOL
Can we use lubricating oil?
It is recommended to use only silicone oil (with known grade of viscosity).
what is "Sunkin up"
What stand is that?
I believe it is OFNA stand
Thx
anytime👍
what if i dont wait 10min and just fill and run what then?
Nothing bad is going to happen. If you have air in suspension, then it doesn't work the way it supposed to and thats it.
ok, thank you :)
Anytime! 👍
Uh shouldnt there be WAY more rebound than that?
This is how it normally looks
I have shocks for a 1/18 scale car and it has full rebound is that a problem
😮😮😮
Watched this video because i accidentally opened the shock and it has little to no oil it. Wasnt sure if that was normal...now i know its not lol
Good info, but you guys might want to consider getting a better mic
We will, definitely! 👍👍👍
my oil is black haven't changed my oil in 6 years
You should probably do that then. ;)
RC Street Shop how often should I change the oil guys? Great video I will check out some other ones!
