It’s what I love, no one is going to be doing that with there 450 4t in 20 years for now, Id do it for an old TT500 from the 70s or XR 500R OR 600r but not for the modern junk, nothing beats 2strokes from any era for me, 01 RM 125 sic too dude🤘
@@matevasas Lol you’re a sic man, we are sic but in a good way, I’d seek therapy urgently 🤣 All good mate at end of day we are all passionate dirtbikers, even if I can’t understand you 4strokers 👻
I had a 2000 RM125 when I was 16. I always wished I had the 2001. The seat was so spongy! I would like to find a 2000 and build a Travis Pastrana replica.
Me too man! I just rebuild my first bike 1982 xr80 and then picked up a basket case 01 cr125 thats been transformed into a xc/enduro bike!! Always on the prowl for another one lol
Man, this was my first big boy bike- worked with my dad all summer and bought it brand new when I was 13 years old. We spent hours polishing the swing arm and porting it, it was all or nothing- but a little rocket ship… best memories of my life 💯
I bought my 97 CR125 in the fall of 1998 from a buddy I knew that lived close to me. I loved that bike the first time I saw one at my local Honda dealer in late 96 early 1997. I remember working relentlessly and 2 damn jobs early in my Senior year to get my Dad to co sign the loan to buy it. Before that I had a 92 RM 125 in 1996 and a 88 CR125 as my first 125 in 1995. Sadly I sold it to my Brother in 2002 when I got Married and moved out of State and have always missed it because it was the best damn 125 I ever climbed on. I had so many great memories with that bike and wouldn't trade them for anyting in the world. To all the young guys keep riding because time flies and thanks for posting this video and letting me go back in time.
Love it! I had a 96 cr125, it was a ripper. Remember going to Buddscreek nationals and seeing Steve Lamson ripping it. Till this day when me n my family members talk about the races, lamsons bike always comes up in conversation bc it was n probably still the best sounding 2 smoker we’ve ever heard. Just remember all the other 125s on National weekend sounded n smelled good but didn’t have that extra crisp as Lammy’s.
My best friend and riding buddy had two 95s one stock and the other with motor work done by Pro Circuit. The modified bike screamed compared to my 89 cr125. I now have a 95 in my garage for a rebuild if I can just get around to starting it.
Im 35 and this def took me back to when i took a 3hr ride each way in a snow storm to get a 97 cr125 with my buddy's. Unfortunately i flipped it a few days later to a friend. It had a full bills exhaust that i loved. This bike came out amazing as all his builds do
This is just what I needed to see. Just bought a 1990 cr125 this week after not having a bike for a while. Last bike was a 2016 fc250. Now I'm 30 and I don't care about winning races. I'm more curious than ever how I'm going to like it. Never owned a 125 before.
I raced that bike in 90. Fastest 125 motor I ever owned. However, that model had Hella headshake. I'm sure they have the cure by now. Then , they didn't.
@@Onewaygoon sorry bud I ment 134 I sent my cylinder to Eric gore and had him machine it and re nickel-plate it to the 134 and ported it for more torque and it feels way faster im in naples florida and all the tracks are sand tracks so it helps big time
This isn’t the first time ping has talked about secret ignition systems with a million killavolts that seem to generate an extra 1500 rpm of usable power. I’m certainly not doubting u ping but why has there never been any aftermarket parts able to duplicate these gains? I would think vortex systems would be the closest and nobody on the net makes any reference to the gains u mention. Any insights ?
Hey Brian, I run the same ignition in my 92/97 HPP 125's as Team Peak/Pro Circuit did back on their bikes. Everybody thought they were Factory HRC ignitions, but they were actually off the shelf OEM Honda parts, which consisted of a 1989 CR125, crank, flywheel, ignition & cdi box. The taper on the ignition side of the crank is different FYI. The end result is an Extra 1500 rpm up top, I actually found out about this from reading Eric Gorr's tuning book years ago back in the early 90's & have used this set-up ever since in ALL of my 125's 😉
@@davidleathers5729 wow that’s great info I never heard before. I’m building an 89cr125 right now and have duplicate parts from another 89 parts bike. The 89 sure did shriek on top must be the curve they programmed in.
Hi, i have cr125 1997, the carburetor is pj15 and it doesnt hold the idle at all. I brought it to many mechanics but noone could find the problem. The jet 55 - 172
May I ask sir, what's the octane rating of the racing gas do you guys use? And, those kinds of bikes you build won't run on a 95 octane rating pump gas? Thanks.
Building my dads old 93 Cr125 for a few races next year. Had an AMA pro tag on the frame. My dad always swore up and down it would smoke my 03 Rm125. Now im wondering forks and ignition from my other 01 cr250?
I remember some saying that they liked the harder hitting power band of the steel framed CR125s better than the aluminum framed Cr bikes ! They wanted to put a 1996 engine in a 2000 lol I knew what he was talking about because I've ridden a mint 1999 Cr125 and loved the bike ! It had amazing brakes great shocks and felt really light ! but the power band was just smooth in a kind of electric way compared to others like the yz kx or even the rm I remember riding having a blast but even saying wow my 1988 yz125 feels like it has more top end kinda than this new bike !
My cousin raced a 97 and I raced a 98. His bike was better. I did my suspension and motor, but his bike still felt better. My motor was a little faster after mods.
Hi friends, I'm contacting you from Italy, can you tell me where I can find that seat cover and graphics.🙏🏻 thanks in advance, I've been going out crazy for 5 months to find them
I love rebuilding old bikes. I have about 1,000,000 hours into my 2001 RM125, half of those were just sitting in the garage and staring at it.

Things like this are why I wanted to get into MX in the first place, the McGrath era Fluro red/black/white sums up the 90s

I’ll be 50 in April and have my old 1990 apart n ready to be put back together again new and rip around and play with
Steve Lamson, one of the baddest men to throw a leg over a 125
93-97 CR125s are the best 125 bikes money can buy for the fun side. I still ride my 93 hand have a lot of fun. Sometimes more than my 450.
Agreed. The 93-97 steel framed 125's were absoutley bad ass.

Beautiful, love it thanks for saving 2t, that’s a true Honda 🤘
She rips, old Ping looking good on the 96 CR125R 👍
97 was the last 125 BEAST Honda made
I've got a 95 CR125 in the garage and a box full of new parts to go with it. Just need to find the time.

1-800 collect, yeah I remember that. McGrath wore their name if I remember correctly

The like the KYB enzo suspension on the Honda
Awesome Build guys & it sounds Awesome !!!😊😉😁

97 green sticker enjoyment.

I love it! Awesome bike! Ping you rule!
That was a great era,I grew up on 40 acres of woods and rode dirtbikes everyday, now I'm 41 and don't get much free time to ride
I'm building this bike now with the 144
