Awsome video. I just bought a gsx 1250fa a month ago and the bike is nice. comfortable with good torque and just a blast to ride around. 250 miles out of a tank wow.... I would have never known.

I just bought a 1250 FA myself and I have it at the Suzuki dealership now getting a oil change, new brakes, and they're going to put sport bike bars on it to lower them more in a sport bike arrangement. My question is, have you ever seen anybody do this sort of thing to this bike? Because I scoured the internet I can't find anybody that has put sport bike handlebars on a Suzuki 1250 FA

@@LUellenmoss I've heard of someone telling me to do it. But if i wanted sport bike feel on the 1250 fa I would just get a gixxer 600. I like the ergonomics of the FA.

Very Good, Bit easier way to work out your MPG mind than that... good fun though! The GSX has a 19 litre tank = 4.18 UK gals. (251 miles from your Brim to empty equates to 60.14 MPG!) On tour I always Brim it and refuel around the 170 miles mark, reset trip and off we go again (and normally I still have 5 litres in tank takes around the 14lts to brim it.. yet warning lights on) I do the maths and I know I am hitting around 60 MPG. Drops if you raise the revs over 4K but have been caught twice speeding in Spain on mobile speed traps in middle of no where .. Best I have ever had is 64, normal is around 58MPG on tour, in UK normally around 52 MPG pottering local (stop start all that). As you alluded to, keep the revs down and really pretty economical.

I have one and I confirm that on the highway the petrol consumption is low. Unfortunately in urban travel the consumption is too high probably due to the high weight of the motorcycle!

I did a similar test on my Gsx1250fa a few years back whilst touring in northern France, I had 5 liters of petrol in my top box, I wasn´t taking it especially easy but not hammering it either , when I got to 360km I was already impressed and decided to fill up at a petrol station, almost exactly 18l went in so I had 1l remaining in the tank, I can easily imagine 400km plus is possible if you take it steady

Very very helpful film for me. I always worked on assumption of 150 miles then find a fuel pump. At a push 175 miles. Im blown away and so pleasantly surprised. Wow 251.4 That means in the real world I can push the top up range to 200 miles. I have a 2014 minter FA (6,000 miles). Hardly run in yet. I always suspected she was capable of 60mpg plus if ridden sedately using the massive torque in 6th gear. By 30mph im usually in 6th gear. I prefer 4th gear in 30mph urban zones for responsiveness. The Bandit engine really is a peach.... On the motorway it blows away my mates BMW GS.
I presume you knew the quoted MCN miles per gallon figure of 38 mpg if ridden hard and 42 mpg if not ridden hard.... your experiment here makes a mockery of those figures.

I shall have a rethink on whether to keep it or not and perform a similiar test to the one you carried out here. Many thanks for making this film.

Thanks for doing this so we don’t have to🤣🤣🤣. My 2015 FA has just turned 11k miles and it’s been a great bike. It does feel pretty heavy though pulling it out the garage but once moving the weight pretty much disappears. Not doing any distance it these day I tend to drop £10 of fuel into it when the bars on the display start flashing (orange light already on). Just put it through another mot this week without drama, great bikes with a great engine. It’ll be a hard act to follow if I change it!
Oh in terms of fuel consumption round the doors I typically get low 50 mpg but these are < six mile journeys.

@@davetompkinsmotorcyclevlogger - Hey Dave, now that I can look back on about two months of riding, I think it may be possible to give some kind of statement to how much fuel I consume with my own Suzuki GSX 1250 FA. So far I don't make it over 400 km per tank but 370 km to 380 km depending on how smoothly I use the throttle. Considerung the weather and street conditions these months I don't assume it to be too bad to need about 5 l/100 km. Good work Dave. I have one of these bikes but never had the nerve to break 200 miles. I would though question the accuracy of the mileage. My speedometer runs at 10% higher than my sat nav speed and my sat nav mileage after a journey is lower than the speedo mileage. Have you compared a Google maps mileage with the one you recorded. Even if it was 10% out it would be a good result.

This is a cracking bike which I’ve owned for 5 years but The fuel gauge is crap and once it starts flashing I’m worried and. Start Thinking about finding fuel. I go to 175 miles max because running out would be disastrous. Thanks for this experiment which would show that the bike is much more capable. My question is why do Suzuki list it as only 40mpg ? Mcn in their review say the same and this seems to be the official figure. Your test proves that it is way out. I know the gsx was a built as a budget bike so is it the case that Suzuki got lazy and didn’t bother testing it correctly ? Will try the test myself just to confirm but getting to 200 miles per tank is a massive difference when touring

HELP! : My 2010 1250 with 14k on the clock keeps picking up a intermittent buzzing/vibration? Ive tried everything to eliminate it with no joy.
Bar ends filled with expanding foam (after market Renthals) Didn't do it after bar install for roughly 3k miles I covered so not the bars.
Tightened every nut, bolt & screw in site. Including engine mounting bolts to correct torque settings.
Dose it in neutral and more noticeable on engine break or with extra weight.
Had new tyres, plugs, air filter, oil filter & PAIR removed. None of them.
Don't think it's chain, tyres or sprocket related as it's present in neutral.
Sometimes it's in every rev range and sometimes only around the 3k - 3.5k rev range which is expected but then sometimes irons out at 4k.
The bike is riding me! as in I'm changing into 6th at 2k revs to try to not feel the vibes :(
Really love this bike and it's my first bike too. Didn't have this issue for the first 4k miles ive done and now I'm not enjoying it no more :(
Any help , Ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Why do you talk miles, when you put in liters? In Canada were messed up to but km's is the norm now, although MPG is still a conversion I do. On my 09 I go around 250km, put in 12 liters, so approx.5l/100km or 55mpg. Good video though, could probably go 200 miles for sure :)

Not logic to do the test like that.
Just fill it up, ride a lot of miles, and fill it back up. Calculate your miles over the liters. Fill it up the same way. Mid or side standard. And fill it up at same gasstation. Different fuels different miles.
