Nice guitar. I like the versatility. I find myself switching between my Strat and Custom 22 all the time and not that I really want only one guitar, it would be kind of cool to try one for myself. I know PRS is pricey, but you get what you pay for. Walk through a guitar shop and pick up a new Les Paul: their junk. Fender is better, but not far. The meticulous attention to detail PRS puts into their guitars is second to none. Gibson and Fender could learn from them.
Man, this was fantastic! You did such an excellent job of choosing songs that demonstrate the tonal range of this guitar. And you played them all flawlessly. I’m one step closer to purchasing a 509 after hearing this. Thank you!!
I recently purchased a new 509 based on the versatility that you show in this fabulous video. I was in the market for an HSS configuration, and I wanted a PRS because of their quality and 10 tops. Couldn't put 2+2 together until I saw this video with the mini toggles. IMHO these pups are better to my ears than a split coil humbucker. You might want to contact Sweetwater for your commission (LOL). PRS should post this video on their site!!! Now I have many hours of playing ahead of me relearning to get your chops and tone in a silent setting.
Desi, I am one of your FBT Vol. I & 2 students. First of all, thank you very much for this Demo. An awesome guitar. When you play solo with 'Middle-Single coil', it was absolutely beautiful producing a very NATURAL sound. Same way, your magics with Middle+Neck Single coil. And, particularly, it was mesmerizing to hear your Chords and the subsequent 'Got Black Magic Woman' (Carlos....great salute to you) with Neck/Humbucker. Incredible great work.
Thank you Desi. It's amazing how effortlessly you play these tunes which I take weeks to learn. I have both of your books already and I have seen some of your videos teaching the theory (loved the Blues Mixed scale concept of using both Minor and Major). I am just waiting when I can get a good deal on your full video series. but I do follow all the video lessons you have posted to teach us for free. Thanks for this awesome work.
Desi, this is a helpful video because it showcases all the tones the 509 provides. I own an American Strat, a Les Paul Studio and a custom Zion Classic. You have helped me figure out which PRS to purchase. This guitar is really versatile. Thank you.
I very much wanted a PRS 509 before watching this video and now I just have to have one! If there is a cure for G.A.S., this video certainly isn’t it. 😉 utterly exquisite playing, my friend!
Really cool review, and great job utilizing the 509's different setting to the songs you chose. Is there a more versatile PRS? Also, your guitar appears to be red. I don't see that color available, but it's the nicest one I've seen. Is that a custom order, or is it a color they just stopped offering on the 509? Thanks for the vid, and thx.
The 509 is extremely versatile, for sure, but other models offer sounds that the 509 doesn't have. For example, you can't use the two outside pickups together on the 509. The finish is called Fire Red Burst. I see one listed for sale on Reverb. reverb.com/item/6322746-paul-reed-smith-509-2017-fire-red-burst
Thanks so much Desi for the response. I'm looking at the 509 and the 513, still undecided. I really like the articulation of the notes on the 509. Thanks again, and rock on!
Brilliant review, thanks. Great to hear someone finally demo this with some well thought out contexts! Could you tell me if you got any sense of how noisy/noiseless the single-coil modes were? I realise they are not labelled as such, but it would be good to see your thoughts on this mode vs "normal" singles coils in this regard.
Good question. Hard to say. My home studio is pretty quiet and I get very little noise from single-coil guitars in it. I did not notice a difference between the 509 and my Strat. Both produce a bit of noise, but not much.
Put 9's on it. That scale length is known WELL to use 9's. The 24.75 scale length is usually associated with 10's so they will BOTH feel the same if you go from one scale to the other. So, if you are using a Strat, 9's are most common and Les Paul users usually use 10's and both guitars will bend very equally.
Yes and no. The Kemper Profiling amp works by connecting the unit to real amps miked up in the studio and capturing the sounds digitally. You're hearing the sound of the real amps.

Wow, this demo is extremely effective at pointing out the versatility of this guitar. The playing is superb !

Oh and My favorite was the Bridge Humbucker. Wonder how useful this would be for the blues (thats what I love to play).
Are you on my email list? I run specials from time to time. Or just email me directly and I'll let you know what discounts are available, if any.
I am on your email list. Waiting for that special one :)

Sounds like a strat in single coil mode! plus the humbuckers are legit as well...
I agree. That neck humbucker sound is beautiful in note playing. I wonder how comparable the chord tones come through?
Splendid demo of the Kemper Profiler! Oh, and super sweet guitar, too! :)

Nice demo.. Is that a DGT in the background?
Yep.
Desi you are Good!!!!!
Sounds great!
thanks for this man!
Hi why my 509 hard to bend with 10s strings set?
Andrie Bayuajie Maybe you just need to strengthen your fingers and develop thicker calluses. Keep bending!

you oughta think about getting a set of weights BONES !
I've been lifting weights since 1990. Talk to my genetics.
@@desisernaguitar athlean x program and protein supplements they sell… i have your build and finally getting somewhere. Thanks for the demo.
@@SmartMoneyReviews That's a great channel and program. I've also learned a lot from the outlift.com website and Mind Pump podcast.
Not using a real amp huh

It’s a very nice instrument but it’s … Not a LP Not a Strat Not a Tele … hate these comparisons it sounds like a modern guitar - PRS.
Right. Ultimately, you don't want to get this as a substitute for some other platform-you want to use it as it's own thing.
Btw very nice playing, you did an excellent job of demonstrating how & where this guitar shines.
