Hi Raya, your videos have really helped me during program selections this year. In regards to your first year at ryerson, can you show what your timetable looked like with the courses during your first and second semester. I would like to know since ryerson is a commuter school and I just want to have an idea as to how my day to day schedule would look like (especially knowing how early or late in the day courses are scheduled at). Thanks!
Hi! So happy to hear that you're finding the videos helpful. As for my schedule, I can send it to you via IG (@raya.kee) - just DM me there. But if anything, it's usually just 3 hours (sometimes broken down into 2 hours, 1 hour) per course. You also have the option to change your class time/prof around a week or two before the beginning of the semester via RAMSS (your Ryerson portal) >> Student Center >> Enrolment Shopping Cart and/or Visual Schedule Builder.
Hey Raya ! I'm a high school student from India wherein I took up business, economics, accounting and core mathmatics. I am confused between Accounting & finance, BM and BTM. Forecasting the future job scope in business, I think I should switch to a field which is blended with tech, but I'm really confused if this field would be good for a non- tech person like me. Could you guide me a bit ?
Hey I'm from India as well. I am from commerce stream too. I applied in Ryerson for BTM. And I am not sure about the technological aspect too because I don't really like computer and stuff but I applied just cos of future prospects in technology. So let me know if you get any new information regarding this query :)
Hi Ananya! I'll see if I can make a video in the future comparing Accounting/Finance, BM, and BTM, but in the meantime here are the links to the courses for these programs: 1. SAF - www.ryerson.ca/calendar/2021-2022/programs/trsm/accounting_finance/ 2. BM - www.ryerson.ca/calendar/2021-2022/programs/trsm/business_mgt/ 3. BTM - www.ryerson.ca/calendar/2021-2022/programs/trsm/business_tech/ I don't know too much about what your interests are, but if you want more flexibility and/or need more time to decide what you want to pursue I'd look at SAF or BM. - For SAF, your first two years are "common" then for 3rd year you can decide to major in Accounting or Finance. - For BM, your first year is "common" then for 2nd year you can decide to major in Economics and Management Science, Entrepreneurship, Global Management, Human Resources, Law and Business, Marketing, and Real Estate. - BTM has no option to further choose your major, but it does have some common courses with BM in the first two years. Hope this helps :)
Hey, lol I'm from India as well and quite confused between BM and BTM. Could u pls let me know what you've finally chosen and what factors did you take into consideration? also, any idea about opportunities and remuneration?
Hi Raya, This video really helped me answer some of the queries I had. But I still have a concern. I had opted for Science stream in my high school and have no background of commerce. I'm interested in BTM, but want to know if having no commerce background would make it difficult for me to have some of the business courses especially relating to finance.
Hi Srushti! Not having a commerce background shouldn't be a problem, because concepts are taught at a beginner's level and advances as you take more courses. Some people who've taken business courses in high school may have a head start on you, but you shouldn't have too much trouble catching up to them as long as you put in the work. Hope this helps :)
Hi Raya, Thanks for the video. Was there a lot of presentations in the courses you mentioned? If so, are they individually or group based and which subjects are more prominent to presentations? Thanks.
Hello I’m a grade 12 student, I applied to btm and Laurier and ryerson. I have a question I have no prior it knowledge and I took a lot of business courses but I don’t know how to code or anything. I was wondering is the it aspect hard. I want to peruse this but I want to know if I can accomplish succeeding in btm without knowing much about tech but I plan on watching a lot of videos and getting help with extra curricular it coding courses so I can do better. So do you recommend this? Please reply fast
The coding aspect may be a challenge, but there are only 2 courses related to it since BTM is not a coding-focused program. So if you’re starting to do your research/starting to learn Python right now, you should be ok! Hope this helps and good luck with uni apps!
BTM is more broad in the sense that it covers network infrastructure, software/hardware implementation, and information systems. Whereas Business Analytics is under the BTM umbrella because it’s a more specific topic (maybe even more marketing related?) within BTM. Hope this helps!
Hi! I won’t be able to do an apples to apples comparison between Laurier and Ryerson BTM bc I’m not really too familiar with Laurier BTM. But, you can try to compare the required program courses between the two and see if there are significant differences in what you learn at each program!
I heard BTM at Ryerson offers really good job opportunities because of the skillsets that students graduate with is that true? Also is it possible to land consulting roles in places like the big 4 and such.
Mmm I think it’s all very dependent on the person - meaning that the school/program isn’t as big of a factor on a person getting a job at big 4 compared to their extra curricular involvement, work experience, academics, interpersonal skills, etc. But with that said, Ryerson BTM (or any program under Ted Rogers for that matter) does equip you with a lot of the technical skills you need to land roles at well-known companies! Also, Ryerson’s TRSM co-op program is super helpful in earning work experience while you’re still in school - I highly, highly recommend it. For BTM specifically, you get to graduate with 20 months of work experience under your belt! (5 terms x 4 months each)
Hii im plannning to go for btm and my maths is very weak is there will be problem in future ? What kind of maths we have to deat in btm??? Please reply 🙂
I got in with 89.6 top 6 grade 12 courses, and for BTM Co-op specifically a 2.8 gpa is required. Also, Ryerson's scale is out of 4.33 so you can learn more here - www.ryerson.ca/studentguide/grades/
@@lordmoki18 hey Im still in grade 11 looking to apply next year and my average is most likely going to be around yours so If you had the time could you tell me if you got accepted or not thanks
Do you need to be in some Business extra curriculars to get into the program? Or can you just complete the required courses and average range for the program and be accepted?
What do you plan to do after you get ur degree? I’m in the same spot right now, 2nd semester. Still don’t really have a clue what/where I’ll be working after school
Hmm I would say not really. I didn't take calculus in high school, but I'd say that the math in BTM is more relevant to advanced functions and data management. Hope that helps and good luck with uni apps!
