- The Biden administration is pushing for a diplomatic solution to end the attacks between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah, which have killed dozens of people in Beirut and pushed hundreds of thousands into underground shelters in Israel's north. According to a statement from the Pentagon, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant on Saturday about the Hezbollah rocket attacks and stressed the need for a diplomatic solution. For in-depth analysis and a deeper perspective as the war spreads to Israel's northern front, risking an all-out regional conflict, FRANCE 24 is joined by Dr H. A. Hellyer, Scholar in the Middle East Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC, specialising in Security Studies. Dr. Hellyer is also Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) for Defence and Security Studies in London where he is based.

Unfortunately it is Lebanon that engaged in escalatory attacks on it’s southern neighbour. Appropriate retaliatory responses are obviously going to occur. If Lebanon supports and hosts Hezbollah, irrespective of where they get their resources, it is complicit in the conflict and missile attacks on Israel

well, when Hamas, hezzbolah and the houthies felt empowered by Iran to launch the attack you didn't say anything. Iran wanted a long lasting war (as venezuela, cuba, russia) they don't care their people suffer, they have a tight undemocratic grip on their country, having meetings and laughing of "weak democratic countries", now feel what democratic countries can fully do.
