It really looks to me that you need to immigrate to South Africa. Like me - as a Belgian guy - I was simply swept away by the beauty and energy of this country and will be spending the rest of my life here. Coolest place on earth! Long live the biltong, braais and the beautiful weather. And hey... the rugby madness and excitement are not bad either...😎
My eloquent and very heartfelt 'Thank you Tim' comment, gone. I lost it. Anyway, thank you Tim. You get us like few other people do and sometimes we need someone to remind us how far we've come since 1995. You also seem to know a fair bit about rugby, which is nice!
As one who has spent a significant amount of time in South Africa as an American, it is profound what rugby is to that country. I wish I could explain it to my American friends. Thanks for being a true ambassador of the Springboks and sport.
Hi Tim i m one of the people that Rugby has transformed back in 1995 I was only 10 years old wen I started playing rugby under blue bulls couching clinics what a privilege to be guided by likes of Naas Botha , Os Du Rant ,Chester Williams , Hannie La roux just to name the few, My first Craven week played against most guys who went and won 2007 rugby World Cup ,even though I didn’t make it professionally rugby still changed my life it was an escape from the hardship of growing up in a township , today I m a grown man successful entrepreneur and I still love rugby
My wife worked at the foundation, very teary at the moment. I was a principal at a school in Stanford, close by. Grootbos Foundation helped our kids a lot with coaching.
Somewhere tonight, there is someone watching this video, sobbing just like me, who's life will be forever changed. We have no idea how heartfelt words can perpetuate dreams, goals and visions. You may just have given hope to the next Rassie, the next Siya, the next Bongi. May this message resonate throughout space and time. A heartfelt thanks for touching souls through your touched soul....
You know Tim, Eggchasers is the only channel I have subscribed to and the reasons are listed below. As a Saffer who has been living in the UK for 4 years now; I find it hard to articulate the spirit of a South African to Brits and other global people I meet. Some find us to be arrogant, to direct or even overly driven to do well and succeed. You have a clear understaning of our culture, passion, desperation, focus and dedermination that drives us as a people. With all humility, we try to share the spirit of ubuntu/gees with people globally. Seeing you in tears today made me cry and reinforced the sacrifices of immigrating; keeping that fire alive that all Saffers have (Including you)! You are a legend pal and I wish you, yours and your channel well!
Don't apologise for showing your emotions Tim. It is a truly touching story and you also had me (a 55 year old dude) all teared up. South Africa is such an amazing country with sooooo many challenges, yet such amazing people that need real upliftment.
Huge fan from The States. You have nothing to be sorry for. You have a big heart brother. As men we need to be able to show vulnerability and emotion. It demonstrates true strength. God bless you.
It is absolutely vital for the world to know and understand that these projects, these schools are build, funded and managed by the people. That is the 'x factor' that people do not get to see or understand completely. In South Africa we solve problems by getting involved, working hard, working together. Waiting for government to help is just not an option. We love you Tim and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you do for us as a country.
❤Hi Tim. I am a rugby coach as well as a school teacher. I'm located in Capetown. My rugby under 17 won the Vuka league this year. My under 19 team made it to the semi final. We have a lot of challenges in our community and at school. So many boys wants to play rugby but can't because of the challenge they face. Our school does not have any money for transport or rugby gear or anything rugby related. We have a big open space but no rugby field. We were practing in a little space this year but still didn't stop us. We had no gear but it did not stop us. Our guys can't come to practice because of shooting and gang violence in our community but still it did not stop us. Not all educators at school love the sport or want to help our youth. I'm trying everything I can to keep this boys driven and going and giving them hope that there is a better life out there. It's getting too much for me to carry this burden alone. I kindly ask for any assistance or even just to come and talk to my boys when you in Cape town again. If you know anyone who can help us to atleast get gear or balls or any rugby equipment I will be so happy and thankful. ❤ Please get back to me ❤
Truly touching video, always talking on South Africa with class and respect. Awesome of you to use your platform to spread this message not only to the world, but to some South Africans as well. Big ups Tim.
Thank for not only focusing on the beautiful side of South Africa, and Srpringbok success, but a side of South Africa that so many of us are use to. Reality also that so many current Springboks and up-and-coming stars, come from exactly what you are sharing here.
I am a South African and don't even know about this good work that is going on in my country. Thanks for letting me know. I see your passion. We appreciate you.❤
What an immensly powerful video Tim. I am so glad that you help people understand what it means to be a South African. How people try and dig themsleves out of the challenges that the country faces doesn´t really reconate with foreigners. Thank you for spreading the message!
Now you know what we know. Passion for our people permeates into our playing. I am privileged - at the tender age of 75 - to witness this miracle that goes such a long way into galvanising SA to stand up to more than 30 years of gradually breaking down our economy and the lives of the most vulnerable through lies aimed at dividing us more along racial lines. Thank you, your emotion resonates in harmony with all of those in our country striving for healing.
This makes teary😢 for an Afrikaaner at your age Oupa, to have a positive mindset about the current South Africa we are trying to build is really giving us young people hope.
Thank you Tim, very powerful!! My family and I are moving back to SA (Kwa-Zulu Natal) after 23 years to help develop a school's sports programme, outdoor education, and community work. You are always welcome to visit.
Thank you once again Tim for showing people around the world what rugby and sport does and means for South Africans. Maybe this will explain a little bit to non South Africans why we are so proud of our Bokke and Rassie. The struggles are very very real but bloody hell, we are one brilliant nation. This is why we say, "Hulle Weet nie wat ons weet nie". Being a true born and raised Saffa you have to be tougher, stronger and more motivated than the next guy. It's just in our DNA to be "ruthless" in a good way. I Love my beautiful country, and love your show🤙🇿🇦😎
Well said Tim. The most important aspect of rugby is that this sport makes us forget our differences. And that's besides the fact that the Boks keep bringing us joy. Thank you so much for shining a light on such an important aspect of what rugby does. Thank you so much for being such a human
Really? A future of quotas, is that what you cuddle yourself to sleep with. I wonder what you woke yes voters going to do when everyone stops letting their children sit back for 30%era and rugby goes private
I am sure you have realised by now Tim, South Africa is in your heart and under your skin, you understand the essence of being a South African and supporting the Springboks. That story will bring a tear to any human being, it did to this proudly South African male who now lives in the UK. Thank you for everything you do in terms of showcasing South Africa, you will always be welcomed back. I look forward to all your videos, apologies about not entertaining your request for a win on Saturday. Thank you for being a true gentleman.
Tim I was so moved by how much this means to you. So many of my family in England don't understand when we say " it just means more to us than a game". When we won the world cup I went and bought a Springbok beanie for a chap that works at out local veggie shop...it gave us something special to speak about...I had actually told him the day before the RWC that I was nervous....he said he was confident we would win....so now we always have a few words about the next game or player news....it really does bring our nation together....you nailed it with your video....I think you need to add these skills to your cv and go knocking on Netflix's door...you are the embodiment of the game....

Tim, tough and tender. You're definitely one of us (South African. ) Thank you for your vulnerability and for such moving stories. I've loved rugby since I was six years old. It was the best thing about school, and I still dream of wearing the green and gold, but at almost 60 years of age, it can only be as a fan. I'm blessed to be able to be at Twickenham tomorrow, and although you're my favourite Englishman, I hope the Bokke put their foot on the gas and keep it there. Go Bokke!
Gosh Tim you got my day started with some serious sobbing. Working in the travel industry I have had the pleasure of visiting Grootbos a couple of times and it truly is an amazing property, but what makes them amazing is all they do. I certainly hope you got to meet the owner Michael who I am proud to call a friend as he is a character himself with a giant heart of gold. I could not be more proudly South African and every time I watch your videos it makes my heart smile to know that the continent and her people have transformed yet another person. There is something about South Africa that just really creeps into one's soul and never leaves. My fellow countrymen truly are some of the most wonderful people and I am thrilled you got to experience it. It is also incredible to know that you also now know what we know (yes the translation from Dricus) and are sharing it with the world. Being that I am half British (my Dad was born there), whenever we play England it is a bit tough, but not gonna lie....my blood runs green and gold forever and you know why :-). Thanks for sharing this wonderful video, despite it bringing me to tears. Good Luck tomorrow and you know I will be waiting to see your after game thoughts immediately following the game. GO BOKKE!!!
This explains why South Africans are so passionate about rugby - it goes waaaaaaaay beyond the sport - it breeds hope in areas of young lives where hope feels almost non-existent! May God bless every child and coach in programmes like these. Tim, you are a legend for sharing this but that’s not enough for the Springboks to hand England a win tomorrow.
Thanks Tim for having me cry and slobber all over my bowl of crisps. Broke my heart but also made me proud to be South African. Such great people out there. So, excuse me for now. I need to find some tissues. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Wow Tim,I appreciate you bro🫂,you got me all in tears with you. On a Friday afternoon here in SA🇿🇦. They didn't show you the true nature of how those girls train, as I saw they were still wearing their school shoes at the training field. We don't do that in the townships,we play or practice barefoot, and team kits we only see on game day. Where one person that's not playing assist the one that's playing with his/her footwear for the game day. It's way deeper than this. Thank you for sharing your experience. Through sport we have hope for a better tomorrow. Much love from 🇿🇦
Tim, what a fantastic video. It's so great to see some encouraging exposure to our rich culture and importance of rugby in our complicated country. And you have barely scratched the surface of how deeply woven sport is in the fabric of our people. Thank you for this video
Been following you for years Tim. This brought me to tears. You have been partly instrumental in this transformation, even though I believe you will be too humble to accept the accolade. Thank you.
Now you know what we know. The great Nelson Mandela knew how powerful rugby is to unite our great nation. It's our DNA. Thank you for reminding us why we love rugby.
If you had the privilege to see the "Chasing the sun" and "Chasing the sun 2" documentaries and you heard SA's MMA champion, Dricus du Plessis saying "they don't know what we know" this video will start to give some insight into why rugby is so precious for South Africans. South Africans from all walks if life. Thank you for such positive content of the highest quality!
As a fellow South African I think we can now say that Tim also know what we know. Tim is a great person with a huge respect and understanding of South Africa.
@@desertstar223 just adding more context. As he says, you always hear Rassie and Siya talk about what the Springboks means for the country. This video just added to the bigger context and it is so heartwarming to see more and more people realising what some players endure to get to the highest level. Nothing derogatory or condescending at all.
@@EttieneVerster I was just surprised that you would think that Tim would not have seen the documentary. It shows me that you're not an avid follower of this channel. You're just jumping on the bandwagon. Tim is so deeply entrenched in South African rugby, it's easy to forget he's an Englishman. He knows more about South African rugby culture than most South Africans. To think that he did not see the documentary is disrespectful.
Thanks Tim - you just captured the essence of why we are about our rugby the way we are and make no mistake, Rassie has had a massive hand in making our national team a beacon of hope and national pride.
Hey Tim 👋. Ah man as always Tim thank you for showing our country so much love... This is the beauty of our Springboks team, especially this group. What once was a racist reflection of the past, has now become the Unity that brings us all together. Rugby was seen as the white man's game in this country. But now it's the very sport's game that demonstrates Unity, perseverance, passion and so much more that we can only be proud of.
I lived in England for 11 years, experienced all the 1st world has to offer. And then I came *home*, because of all that South Africa offers. I, and many others, I'm sure, are delighted you got to see a little of the "behind the scenes". Our life is seldom easy, and still remain loyal and dedicated.
Wow Tim that was a fantastic story of exactly how rugby unites and uplifts South Africans .Thanks for showing the world what the springboks and rugby mean to this country. It is the one thing that unites this beautiful diverse rainbow nation. Rugby helps in many disadvantage communities and it not only uplifts people but more importantly gives them hope .Today I respect you even more as a man , thank you for your empathy and compassion .
Hi Tim, as a South African, thank you for the covering. What a pleasure to watch. I want to agree with a fellow South African said earlier, if England should win the game tomorrow, it will bring me joy to see you happy, but may they best team win💪👏👏
I’m a South African living in Florida, USA and a passionate Springbok supporter. Thanks for this wonderful video. I’m proud to be a subscriber for a while now and happy to have won earlier 😊. Thanks for a fabulous channel Tim, may you and it go from strength to strength.
Thank you for showing this side of the coin too. The people who donate their time for these types of initiatives are really doing God's work. This video is one for the feels. Also, your pronounciation of _Grootbos_ is pretty good. That ggg sound will grow you some extra hair on the chest! EDIT: if you purchase an Adobe licence, there is js a program called Adobe Podcast on it, which allows you to remove background noise like car, office and wind sounds. Sounds almost as good as in a studio. Cheers
On a lighter note, the tall coach who was holding the pad, is an amazing cricketer. We played a social club cricket game and I dropped him on 36, but luckily redeemed myself by getting his wicket when he was on 195! Corrie, jou bliksem.
Absolutely amazing, thanks Tim❤❤❤ Don't think alt of South Africans knows about this. Its really an eye-opener to many of us South Africans. Thanks Tim.❤❤❤
Tim, this is why we love your channel. You do amazing covering of rugby in general and respect to every team or nation you cover. And as a South African thank you
WOW ! . I was born and raised in SA . A career move to Europe in 1985 , now live in Germany . Your fantastic video was very moving and hasn't done anything for my homesickness .
Thanks Tim for sharing this remarkable story! The world needs to see and feel some of these remarkable initiatives that happens in ordinary communities! Maybe the next Siya Kolisi is a product of spaces for Sport!
I am from SA mate and I appreciate your videos so much about my country and how important rugby is to people. By the way, I flew into London this morning to watch and support the Bokke tomorrow.
Thanks Tim - for understanding our DNA and putting it out there with raw emotion - you, together with so many in SA, make this broken world a better place and giving hope to so many - you're an honorary citizen of SA and we love you for that!!!! You truly now know what we know!!! Where one is born, one cannot choose - but what is in one's heart is a choice - and clearly SA and its people is in your heart and we love you for that!!!! PS: Also our thanks and love to your family and household, "allowing" you to share your valuable time with us!!!
Not everyone I speak to buys into my theory, but I have no doubt that a successful, racially diverse national rugby team has made a massive, massive difference in South African racial relationships. As a devout (but extremely fallible) Christian, I have asked myself what the odds are that a team can win the quarters, semis, and the final all by ONE point in a WC. One in a million? One in a hundred million? To me, it's as if we were given one more chance to get our relationships sorted out by Gods grace. All I know is that my interaction with people of other races has become highlights of my days and weeks, and this makes me as emotional as Tim was in this video. I know many people will not share my sentiments, but it is nice for me to put it out there. Tim, you are the Elon Musk of rugby pundits. Thank you for your time, thank you for your interest and kindness towards our country. I am looking forward to a massive game this afternoon and will be eagerly awaiting your analysis afterwards! God bless.
Thank you, thank you , thank you.😢 One of the most amazing podcasts I've ever seen anywhere in the past 3 years. You made a 59 year old grown man from Port Elizabeth shed a few tears on your wonderful insight into South Africa's transformation process on sport , especially rugby. You are an amazing human being Sir. Continue your good work across the globe. You are well loved and respected in South Africa.
This was very emotional. As a South African, I am embarrassed to admit I did not know about The Grootbos Foundation. It took a British rugby podcaster to highlight and inform. Thank you Tim. I'll just wipe my eyes quietly now.
That was so moving! Thank you being an ambassador for the greatest sport, Rugby and more importantly for SA, without you even realising that you doing it. You're a top man! 🙏
Tim, I teared up as you remind me of home the light of goodness in lives that face daily struggles. Thank you for bringing awareness to projects like Grootbos and the true impact it holds. "The ripples of goodness." I have left SA for 23y now and hope to return one day with the outlook to help people up from their knees. It is good to see the goodness at work. Thank you Tim

Tim you're a legend, if we do lose against England tomorrow it will bring me great joy knowing you're smiling.
100%, I totally agree.
Top comment, I second that!

Amen
Thanks Tim for having me cry and slobber all over my bowl of crisps. Broke my heart but also made me proud to be South African. Such great people out there. So, excuse me for now. I need to find some tissues. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
In a library of excellent videos that you produce this is by far the best and most important and makes me proud to be South African.
Thanks for sharing Tim. I'm living in the UK and thankful for the opportunity but miss home every day. You had me crying along with you - much love ❤
Nobody will really understand what rugby and our Springbik team mean to us...God bless our beautiful Rainbow Nation
One day you will return home brother. ❤
Much love from 🇿🇦
Now I understand why there's so much green and gold in your logo and background. You're an amazing human being
Tim, what a fantastic video.
Thank you.
Long awaited VIDEO...thank you Tim for sharing our country to the rest of the world...UBUNTU ...THE FOUNDATION OF OUR COUNTRY❤❤❤
@@wilhelmbornman881 agreed. Huge respect, as you pointed out.
Tim reviewed and discussed Chasing the Sun (1 & 2) on this channel. What are you talking about?
You have become such an amazing ambassador for both RSA & Rugby. I sincerely hope that World Rugby is paying attention to your content. Thank you!
Tim, you have been a vessel for showcasing our beautiful country (and Rugby) to the rest of the World!!! Thank you for sharing "Boytjie."
You're a great human! Why is the rugby community so wholesome.. its"s immense.
Tim Just thank you!! Baie Dankie. Our country needs this. And their is thousand of organizations that's trying to help our country.
Huge respect Tim
I want to say something but dont have words, thank you Tim, you get it, you understand what others and politicians dont
This video is what we want to build upon in South Africa. Well can't speak for others but what I hope we as a country would like to build toward.
Makes me want to live in SA again. So proud of South Africans, the resilience is unbelievable.
You the man Tim! You the best one out there IMHO🇿🇦💪
And now you’re a big part of our story as well bud. Love & Respect🇿🇦❤️🏴
Absolutely amazing, thanks Tim❤❤❤ Don't think alt of South Africans knows about this. Its really an eye-opener to many of us South Africans. Thanks Tim.❤❤❤
Bless you Tim ! .. so much of yr stuff is truly inspirational. Lovely to see our country through the eyes of someone from somewhere else
We love you Tim, you know the heart of SA.
I learned much about my country through your eyes. Thank you.
Wow....that was well said Stefanie
I love your channel and I love your passion. You are a good man and I will spread this message. Go bokke❤
Tim, this is why we love your channel. You do amazing covering of rugby in general and respect to every team or nation you cover. And as a South African thank you
It is heartbroken to see the poverty in this great country! Thank you for shearing Tim!❤
And yes your prenouncement of Grootbos is 100.
WOW ! . I was born and raised in SA . A career move to Europe in 1985 , now live in Germany . Your fantastic video was very moving and hasn't done anything for my homesickness .
Oh my, love the fact that you're highlighting the positive changes rugby can bring about! I love your videos.
Tim you are a true friend of South Africa. Thank you!!❤
Thanks Tim for sharing this remarkable story!
Tim now you know why we love South Africa. A great thank you.
Tim what an amazing person you are, you clearly love rugby and rugby in South Africa. We should make you a honorary citizen. Respect man!!!!
Your best yet, Tim. God bless you 🙏 you have a heart of gold.
God bless.
Thank you Tim! You have come to know what we know...eternal blessings to you and yours. The future has never been brighter ...❤
Thank you Tim! Rassie Siya Boks and SA Rugby are changing people's lives through rugby how wonderful is that!!
A big thank you to you Tim for such a powerful video. You're such an ambassador of our beautiful land, and most special the sport.
Thank you Tim!❤❤❤ You keep on reminding us why we are so proud of this country and of our rugby.
I hope I can meet you one day and just give you a brotherly hug.
Thank you, Tim. Just thank you. ❤ . Proud Saffa living now in Perth. You just made me tear up.
That was so moving! Thank you being an ambassador for the greatest sport, Rugby and more importantly for SA, without you even realising that you doing it.
You're a top man! 🙏
Tim is just the most stand up bloke....
Thanks for spotlighting the incredible, unsung heroes in communities like Grootbos.
As a son of the Cape, thanks for bringing this to the world Tim🤝 top man, top channel.
Crying LOVE MY COUNTRY, I couldn't go anywhere other than this beautiful country and it's people ❤️😍🇿🇦
Well done Tim, this is such a good news story, if I win the lottery I’ll have this video front and centre of mind ❤
Tim the honourary South African ✊🇿🇦
Incredibly powerful message Tim. Thank you. You are a very special person 🙌🏼
