He is a truly gifted actor. Did anyone else notice how emotionally vulnerable he was while watching her do the interview and it was perfectly done without words...... my favorite scene of this episode!!!!!!!!😍

Everyone seems to be overlooking the very important fact that Max left Georgia's side an went looking for Sharpe. I think he feels a little bit of guilt, he wasn't present when Georgia died.

Okay, I agree to an extent, but it wasn't like he was with Sharpe for long. When he saw she was okay went to check on Bloom then he was alerted about his wife.
Please, his grief is enough don't let us add guilt into the matter. Moreover, it was because he asked her to come that's why she was even in the ambulance in the first place. She was there for him and Georgia as any reasonable friend would have been. Her love life doesn't need to suffer for that too.
@@Funmi_Richards Were you really paying attention to the script the writers have written? (1) Why do you think the writers had Max and Floyd talk about their wedding rings in the locker room? Floyd told Max that he also continued to wear his wedding ring after his marriage ended. Floyd said that eventually he realized that the reason why he was still wearing his ring was not because he still loved his former wife, but because of the guilt he felt about cheating on his wife. Max is not suffering from grief. Max is suffering from the guilt he feels about falling in love with Helen when they met, while Georgia was still alive.
(2) Max's grieving ended in Season 2. Remember when Helen asked Max, "Why won't you talk to me?" Max said, "Because I can't talk to you. I don't want you to feel this. I don't want you to experience this." Max wasn't talking about grief, of course. He was talking about guilt. Helen had also fallen in love with Max in Season 1, while Georgia was alive-but Helen tried to end their relation when she said, "I have to triage us."
(3) Do you remember that Helen said, "Max, you have to forgive yourself." the night they were standing in the hallway talking?
(4) In the conference room, after he subconsciously took his ring off, Max told Karen that when he looks inside of himself Georgia isn't there. None of anything Max is feeling has anything to do with his dead wife. Max's feelings in the last part of Season 2 and all of Season 3 have been about GUILT.
I guess I have my answer from last weeks question. Max admits to Helen that he can't do the job without her, she's not going for it. He's pushed her away, because he doesn't want her to experience what he's going through.No one can go through the grieving process alone, Max needs his friends to get him through it. I like the way Helen tells him that she would be there for him , for all of it when he's ready to talk. That speaks volumes to their relationship.
Patricia Cook what is pushing her away doing for him ? I mean does he not want her to get closer to him because he thinks he still might die and he doesn’t want her to be heart broken?

Pushing Helen away is definitely not doing anything that is going to benefit him in a positive way, Max is a doctor he understands life and death, he could have been killed at the scene of the accident, or walking across the street. Max is overwhelmed right now and he needs to process everything that has happened. He's a widower, a father to a infant and a cancer survivor, that's a great deal to go through on your own with any support.
He's doing with her what he did to Georgia at the beginning with the cancer. Withhold what he's going through to "spare them." Which just confirms that he does love her. He's all in with his friends, but always has trouble treating his romantic partners as equals.
Sparing her means.... Much like he tried to spare Georgia of his cancer. Lets also think about the rooftop conversation they had about her being all the things too him and not being able to be his doctor anymore. He clearly saw the weight that she was carrying then and he didn't mind it at all. But with grief, why subject her to what he is dealing with now. He knows she will be willing to at her own expense. She has always done it, but I do think he acknowledges that lines have already been crossed and he doesn't trust himself with the extra levels. She shouldn't trust herself either...look at her decision to be the co-chair of her department. These too love one another in a deep way. Lines are blurred and though I am SOOOO Here for it, its built on it. Its passionate and extremely scary. We aren't even mentioning that they both lost the love of their lives to death. He is a single father and she longs to be one. THIS IS ALL weighty and complicated.
Well that and he's not ready yet to be with anyone and he knows it because a part of him is still on that ambulance. He doesn't want to use her as his rebound...she deserves more and it's not fair to her (she deserves better than that). He definitely sees her as a deep love that he doesn't want to ruin with his grief. He wants to keep her close which is why he doesn't want her to go just yet...

I love them. I don’t want them together too soon though. It’s gotta be a slow burn. I think maybe they should wait for two seasons. Max has got to come to terms with Georgia’s death. I think season 2 should be for that. Then season 3 is them denying their pull towards one another. Make them date other people, but we know and they know it’s not gonna work. It’ll be everything watching them drive each nuts. Then at the end of season 3, we get an admission of love. I’d even venture to say they shouldn’t get together in season 4 either. Those two big teases. They’ll make us crazy with the will they or won’t they of their relationship. Then when at long last they finally give in and get it on, it’ll be epic. Yes, I’ve thought about this a lot.
I agree. Slow burn is better because if they get together too fast, then the writers will eventually be forced to introduce unnecessary conflict in their relationship, which I don't want.
I love the slow burn but what happens when they tease us with it and then the show is cancelled? I don't want to imagine them together. Lol. I really want to see their romantic relationship grow on-screen. So S3 can be a bit more push and pull but after that nope! I don't want the show to end with 'and they lived happily ever after off-screen 😭😭😭

Well, these are the baby steps taken before the leap.
Just kiss already! No, that wouldn't be right, not yet. Max is grieving and is so stubborn that he won't ask for help. It was on him to decide what to do when Georgia was alive because he was married to her and she was having his baby. It is still on him, he is now a widower and a father. I see Sharpe's hurt, she is wise to stay out of his way until he is ready to decide on what to do. But they are driving me crazy in a good way. They just have a chemistry that I can feel as well as see. This is real, people don't always get to be who they want to be with and when they want to. And as I said before, the writers are letting them keep their dignity, but not their minds!

No. Spare Helen from feeling guilty. Max was referring to the guilt he was feeling after Georgia died. Max doesn't want Helen to experience the guilt that he feels because he fell in love with her (She, of course, also fell in love with him.) while Georgia was alive. That's the real reason why Max continued to wear his wedding ring. Just as Floyd said he had done, Max continued to wear his wedding ring after his marriage ended (as a result of Georgia's death) because of the guilt he felt about falling in love with another woman.

As an actor I think the actor who plus Max is a street above everyone including the Helen actress who is very good. He just feels so real and distinct as a character.

Later after Max has closure I would like to see him happy and Sharpe to they are two beautiful people who love their patients family and friends and they work so hard to keep the hospital running and all we need a hospital benefit for Max his Dam Fam get together with just them and Max and Luna and let him relax with Luna enjoy some food and music everyone dress to impress and enjoy each others company as they get together with ideas for New Amsterdam moving forward for the people they can later meet up at the Garden on the roof and send off balloons in Georgia's honor so they can remember her and the love and joy that her and Max shared have a plague in her honor that Max can put in his office she can always be close by him

Max is going to have to have his friends around him when he finally burst and let his grief from Georgia go he can't keep that all bottled up inside him forever it just breaks my heart to see Max so hurt but being Max he has to keep running the hospital and helping others instead if facing his own hurt and like Helen said you kept pushing me away and when it comes to the hospital want me to stop and help you . I see where she is coming from she wants to help him thru this cause she lost the love of her life she knows what is going thru max head right now and she did right when he's ready to let go of all the hurt in his heart she will be their to bring him thru this hard and painful loss.And maybe also he can explain about sparing her what? It was true. I thought he lied also but his phone dinged before Sharpe went back on air letting him know and then he sent her that text so anxiously. That's why I thought he lied as well .

Max is very handsome. It's in the eye of the beholder. Yes, Max does go through some physical transformations throughout the series, and that's perfectly understandable under the circumstances. Max has a unique quality about him, in that he has the ability to draw people to him by seeing their strengths, forcing them to embrace their greatest potential. It is probably what Helen finds so attractive and captivating about him.
Although, I must admit, Helen and Akash looked good together too, and he was very charasmatic, passionate and FINE as red wine. Now Akash and Helen would have made some cute babies!
BUT, i did like Max and Helen as a couple simply because the show centered around them, and their great chemistry was heartwarming.
