Greetings from Turkey, the founder of our Republic, the father of the Turks, Atatürk, in the letter he wrote to the mothers of the Anzac soldiers who died in Gallipoli, Çanakkale says: Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well."
the moments in history, where some men showed real leadership, are very rare. Atatürk, who fought there, saw his men dying and still he could do something like that. I truly believe that he has hate in him for the ANZAC, because of their doings, but to overcome this war, he did this remarkble honorment of this poor boys from the south. I have no bondings with turks, but i understand their obsession with him. True leaders are very rare and in our modern time, we need them, but ... .

Great reaction to Sabaton! Did you know that Sabaton has a song called "The Ballad of Bull" . Its about Korpral Leslie "Bull" Allen from Australia. A man who became a hero by carrying wounded soldiers out from crossfire ....Another kind of hero. But a great one!!! Go listen!/React!! :-) Thanks for reacting to this amazing band!!
No I hadn’t! Thank you! I’m going to have to do some more research. Of the bands playing, I’ve only heard of them and Jinjer (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’d be great to just see them and a supporting act).
A little unrelated but my great grandfather would tell me stories when he was in World War II and he told me when he got back his father's hair was entirely Gray from stress so it shows you just how worried parents are when their kids go to war. Of course his dad was very Stern and would never admit it but he was very worried about him.
Greetings from Germany! Thanks for doing this reaction and cheers to down under! Sabaton did a song about the famous Christmas Truce of 1914 as well. So if youre interested...
Smoking Snakes, Inmate 4859, The Last Battle, The Last Dyining Breath, The Ghost in The Trenches, The Valley Of Death, Poltava, Killing Ground, Aces in Exile, Union - some lesser known sabaton songs but really good
Ari Burnu Memorial, Gallipoli. The inscription is a quote attributed to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first President of the Republic of Turkey. It reads: "Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives! You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country to of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." Atatürk, 1934 Between that quote and this song, I can't help but well up every time.
When the Art of War album came out I listened to it almost daily at work (welder with headphones) where Cliffs Of Gallipoli and Price of a Mile became my favourites on that album. At the time I didn't know what Gallipoli was about I just loved it, it was later I found out the history and since then the line "There is no enemy, there is no victory" just hits extra hard.
@@inbedwithmovies3228 and i made a request for forever in blue jeans by mr neil diamond (if you've not heard it). you should do more "first time listening" reactions. por favor.
As mentioned below, the Turkish leader is quated in a line in the song. I saw u reacted negative about something they sung about "dying in vain" but if u knew all the history about this battle it would make sence. The allies had underestimated the Turks and thought this would be an easy win but when they realized it was doomed, the allied command send a message to not push forward but the comms were down at this location so a runner with a letter was trying to hand it to the general in charge. Sadly he didnt make it in time and the order to attack was carried out, killing a huge amount of men but it was doomed from the start. Hence they died in vain. Lovely reaction ty
I'm American and know what this song is about and I can't imagine how brave they had to be. They dropped them off in a death trap. I love military history and when I first learned of this I was shocked anyone would have tried this. You should seriously watch the sabton history video that explains this. It's quick and does a good job letting you know what happens. Edit: just type the song name and sabaton history and it will come up if you decide to look it up.
The Turks they came up against were from the area and had fought against the Greeks 2 years prior, the Australian army had to fight very hard and was very lucky not to be pushed back into the sea lone pine was a bloodbath if you look at the numbers 2000 Aussies killed 7000 Turks in a area 300 yards wide and 150 yards deep and that was about the only success of the campaign. There's a series called Gallipoli made in 2014 well worth watching if you can get it In the states it's our Australian equivalent to your band of brothers series.
Oooh, glad to see you're doing music reactions! I don't know your tastes but I'll assume you appreciate talent wherever you see it. Here are a few starting recommendations of mine: "The Sound of Silence" by Disturbed (live on Conan O'Brien or the studio version) "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers (Live) "Old Man" by Neil Young (Live) "So Whatcha Want" by the Beastie Boys (Music video) "Would" by Alice in Chains Kind of a mishmash of genres and there's a good chance you've heard at least half of these already but they're all mainstream, bonafide classics in their own way.
Sorry for the late response. This channel has definitely helped me realise that I need to give more a shot because I have missed so many gems. I would LOVE to have reacted to The Sound Of Silence but alas, their version is a favourite of mine and almost brings me to tears every time I hear it. I think I may have heard the Righteous Brothers song before as the name sounds familiar but I'll pop them all on the list anyway. Thank you :)

Price of a Mile, Great War, Christmas Truce, No Bullets Fly (Animated Story Video) or Flanders Field. Bring tissues. You will have goosebumps. You will cry. But looking at leaders willing to put the world once more into war like before, these videos should be required viewing.
If you want an awesome one with sabaton I can heavily recommend En livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) Live Scandinavium Gothenburg 2020. It is the Swedish version of the song so you should make sure the subtitles are on.
First, they have a history channel here on TH-cam (Sabaton history) I recommend that, they are very educational. I would recommend a list of Sabaton songs. The animated story videos of Night witches No bullets fly Red baron Then the epic videos Christmas truce Bismarck Steel commanders Defense of Moscow Heavy subjects To hell and back, dealing with drug addiction and PTSD to n soldiers returned from war. En livstid i krig live from Göteborg Sweden (it is in Swedish but there are subtitles) Final solution, deals with the Holocaust. Prize of a mile. About the insane deathrate in ww1. ooh im back, i am just now watching an old concert with Sabaton and Cliffs of Galippoli is played, the song is actually even better when they do it live. This is a link to it, not sure u can show it in here though. th-cam.com/video/0T07Zpyn1Wo/w-d-xo.html
A really happy one this, right? ;) But to do this properly I think a good starter pack of Sabaton is the way to go. :) So I will suggest 3 and a half songs/performances/videos to showcase their things. After that, you are good to go in any direction you want. They are not necessarily their best songs, but they will show you the complete picture. And obviously they are great anyway. :) 1a. No bullets fly, the animated story video. th-cam.com/video/dslO-3GgenY/w-d-xo.html Since pretty much all their songs have a historic background, the animated story videos are great to get the context, and No bullets fly is something extra for sure. It's about an act of the greatest humanity in pretty much the worst possible time for humanity. 1b. Perhaps a little girl power (instead)? :) Night witches, the animated story video (th-cam.com/video/5YPo8zDkvy4/w-d-xo.html) is sort of more tailored to you. And a better song I would say also. But both are definately worth a watch. :) 2. Bismarck. th-cam.com/video/oVWEb-At8yc/w-d-xo.html One of the most visually impressive music videos ever made. And that is not an exaggeration. :) And a really great song on top of that. It's about the hunt for and sinking of the german battleship Bismarck in WW2. 3. En livstid i krig, Live from the Great tour in Gothenburg. th-cam.com/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/w-d-xo.html It's in Swedish so turn on the captions and be prepared to be amazed. There will be smiles from ear to ear mixed with tears and you get to experience what might be the greatest live performance ever. It's the story about a Swedish soldier going into war, the 30 years war that ravaged Europe during the 17:th century. And if you want to delve deeper into their songs, their other channel, Sabaton history, th-cam.com/channels/aG4CBbZih6nLzD08bTBGfw.html ,where they go into detail about the story behind each of their songs, is a great source of some light history combined with heavy metal. :) Every song they have made have a corresponding video of about 15 minutes where a historian and great storyteller speaks about the history and at the end, he and the band talks a bit about the song itself. It's really great entertainment. As I said, that is a small package to get you hooked, they have tons of great songs besides those. From the new album they just released I really like "Christmas truce", amazing song, amazing story and an even better music video.. Also "Unkillable soldier", really fun song with a fun video telling the story of a really weird guy. :)
Yea this song is depressing, Gallipoli wasn’t a battle, and wasn’t a landing, it was a slaughter, the commanders didn’t care about the loss of life, they were pawns of war.
The original plan called for the Navy to effectively suicide two or three pre-dreadnaught battleships (which no longer had any chance of surviving in a line of battle) to break the beach defenses. But the middle level admirals disliked the idea of those ships being destroyed, and felt that a few thousand infantry was a better sacrifice. We have letters from Churchhill and others asking why the Admiral in charge of the region hadn't followed through, but by that point it was just a meat grinder.
@4:38 don't say that at the die in vain line. Another reason you should watch the history on this battle. It could never had worked and they tossed these young men into it anyway.
