    I’ve been practicing the running stitch for a few weeks and it still looks all wonky. Watching your video and all the ways you use the running stitch I’m determined to some what master it. I did find out through this process is I have a lot of patients for slow stitching. My anxiety is gone while I’m stitching and that’s huge gif me.

    • @k3n.clothtales
      @k3n.clothtales  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Try and embrace the wonky 😉 it doesn't have to be perfect, the lines don't have to be straight and the stitches don't have to be even ❤️

    I often use this technique and I enjoyed this clip very much. I stitch or knit every day and agree with you about slow stitching and the affect it has on one’s mind. Here in Australia the second largest tech co has just gone down affecting millions of people. No phones no internet and it’s causing great angst. I feel we really need to slow down and live so we are not so reliant on the things of this age. I still darn socks and mend things and often friends will say I just couldn’t be bothered, it’s easier to go out a buy something new. Folk like you are an inspiration and I look forward to more of your clips on TH-cam. Blessings Gail.🙋🏼‍♀️🇦🇺

    I can never keep on a straight line when I’m stitching! And I’m totally sober! I seem to have to put a line down to follow. Any advice? Thank you I love your videos. ❤

    • @k3n.clothtales
      @k3n.clothtales  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it bothers you, you can try to eyeball the edge of the piece or one of the patches to follow. I am not a great believer in drawing lines on the work, also if you stitch heavily like I do, wobbly lines show less. You can kind of use your needle to gently score a line in the cloth to follow, be careful not to tear the cloth though. The line will disappear as you stitch. ❤️

    This is what TH-cam was meant for. Learning new skills, trying out different things, having fun. I only had a very vague idea about what "slow stitching" was, so this is so informative. I probably did this as a kid, when just learning my first basic hand sewing techniques, but this video makes it enjoyable and opens up a whole new world (and I love textiles) 🙂

      Thank you, yes it is by no means a new idea, there are very few of those! 😉 But when I discovered the concept about 8 years ago through a book by Claire Wellesley Smith, it was a light bulb moment. 😊❤️

    I bought sashiko thread and embroidery floss. I started by using 2 strands of the floss. When I switched to 3 strands, I thought it gave more of an authentic look. More like the original sashiko. Made a bigger difference than it thought it would.
    Not saying anyone should do what I’m doing. Just saying what worked for me.

    • @k3n.clothtales
      @k3n.clothtales  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely, different numbers of strands can make a big difference to the look. I usually use two because I can get them through a finer needle and I like the way it feels when I sew. But there's no right or wrong, you do you 😉❤️
