Great video and nice rigs. I think I see a Weatherby element upland in there. I have one in 20g, 26 inch barrel. Got it in October 2022, man it has been a great shotgun. Had an awesome quail season with it here in SoCal.
Thanks for following along! Glad to hear you had a good season! Yes I do have an Element in 12 gauge. Been shooting it for 5 years now, 26” barrel as well. I shoot it well and it’s on my list to pick one up in 20 one day!
Before fleeing SoCal for the free state of Tennessee, I had hunted Gambles in the Mojave National Preserve for years. Tons of fun when there are birds but Gambles are so sensitive to lack of rain. We had maps to the guzzler location and hunted hard but a couple of years of drought and you might be lucky to find one covey all day.
I am a subscriber of yours. I have been watching your videos and came across one where you had a litter of puppies a year or so back. I was wondering if you were planning on breeding your dogs at least one more time. So I am very interested in getting on one of your Waiting list. I’m in the panhandle of Florida Santa Rosa Beach. Wanting a dog to hunt Woodcock in my area. We have good numbers in the winter down here. Haven’t had a bird dog in over 10 years but I would like to get a well Bread Brittany, so I could also keep it in the house with me. Please let me know if you are planning a letter in the future. What state are you in?
So, you know I don't have a dog. My last dog died in 2015 and I haven't had the time to keep up with a puppy nor train a new dog for hunting. Ever since I returned home from Africa, the weather here in WA has been wet and cold and all the geese are gone (the snow geese really got hammered). The ducks (mostly Mallards) have not been in the water ways at all. I live in cornfield country in Northern WA 6 miles from the Canadian border. I've been out 10 times and have not seen any ducks except for last Wednesday. They were sitting in the cornfield and jumped about 65 yds away from me and I had no shot. Yesterday got really cold (20F-6F) with winds around 30 mph with gusts up to 60mph. I decided after I got off duty to brave-up and go walk headfirst into that cold wind. Nothing on my first walk but rounding on the back cut I was just about to give up due to the winds just being too damn strong when 2 big Mallards flushed from the drain ditch and decided to fly against the wind to my left. I knocked down the first one and aimed for the second one when the wind blew my head cover over my eyes. Luckily, even though I really couldn't get a good aim, I knocked down the second one as well. Both hit land and not the water. The weather really effects how wild game behaves and I knew that the ducks would be looking for shelter. It definitely paid off. Most likely my last hunt of the season. I've been using Fiocchi 3" 12 gauge # 3 "Fly Away" steel loads for the first time this season. They haven't failed me once. Great video as always. I would love to come hunt with you in AZ sometime if luck ever leads us to the same fields. God Bless.................. BTW, great shooting bro. Take care
Just a really good video of good dog work and fine sportsmanship. That’s what quail hunting should look like!
Thanks a lot Ron! 👍🏻

Loved the video. Do the dogs learn to avoid the cactus?
Some do, some continue to just run through it.
