I found out I was trans (MtF) when I was around 12. Looking back at my life, I can see that the signs were always there and I just didn't know being trans was a thing! I vividly remember being 10, walking around my room and fantasising how I could change my gender when I grow up and live as a happy woman. Back then I wrote it off as "just one of the possibilities, it probably won't happen". Now I look back at that time and think "We did it, young Ark. We succeeded".
I was showing some pretty strong signs as young as 5, but it wasn't until I was 21 that I could actually understamd those feelings or why I had them. I went my whole childhood understanding I possessed the equipment to pee standing up while believing I was physically incapable of doing so.

And that really shows that people that are "fine with gay, lesbian and bi just not the trans part" really don't understand the basics of any of it on any level. If you're bi and dating the opposite sex "oh you're just straight and doing it to be trendy", if you date the same sex "you just say you're bi for convenience" and it gets so much worse for trans people.

Speaking as an aroace person, grandma is likely thinking of lineage. People who are allosexual (experience attraction) just presume it is a natural thing that all people SHOULD experience and likewise that all people should want to breed. They understand asexuality not as "no sexual attraction" but often as "prudish, rebellious or shy," or worse "medically or mentally broken" and because they just can't admit that some people just lack those feelings. To her, you not wanting to breed is saying her lineage dies with you. They also presume that your gonads will just take over and drive you to breed at some point, and will ignore everything you say in favor of their own delusion that you will give them offspring because you'll just want to someday.

Nice. It'd be nice to be able to go back and show off the progress made.
I was showing some pretty strong signs as young as 5, but it wasn't until I was 21 that I could actually understamd those feelings or why I had them. I went my whole childhood understanding I possessed the equipment to pee standing up while believing I was physically incapable of doing so.
@@sluttyMapleSyrup Honestly, yeah, that's pretty normal. She went "that is unnatural, you're a woman and engaged to a man!" That is true but I will always be bi.
