I hope they will balance it after taking players's feedback. For taking a full weapon slot, I expect it to be much better than the multi-tool. At least larger area too.
I personally rather have they'd : Fix the sort button, or add a "stack all" button instead of adding a new tool that's kinda useless. You're better off flying anywhere to get repaired re/armed than use this to patch up your ship using what remains of your NPC enemies. And as an actual salvage tool to sell ? Yeah you're not making any worthwhile money for the time.
It looks the same as any other salvager. Tells you what you're looking at. But like usual says you can't salvage. It would be nice to be able to at least make busted thrusters somewhat limpable to get somewhere without a major imbalance
Thanks Cap I'm away on holiday on a low bandwidth Hotel wi-fi so can't update and get into EPTU at the moment so you did a good job in satisfying my curiosity!
The speed difference appears negligible, but add in the switching of canisters when doing larger jobs, and the dedicated tool will win out I think, as you do not have to change canisters as often. For smaller jobs I think it is fine that they are equally fast. By and large I'm not sure I'd want the dedicated tool to be that much faster at scraping or filling/repairing. A slight advantage could make sense, but having larger canisters is the main advantage I think.
That’s great it’s in game, I would love to leave one in a ship instead of just carrying it around but leaving things in a ship is still extremely risky with glitches
If i was a dev i would give a real purpose to these hand salvage tools by allowing them to scrap the Steel-glass of the ships (i would deny this ability to the salvage ships). In lore the "glass" is stronger than light/medium armor on ships and represent one of the most expensive part of a ship. (really expensive ships justify their price with big windows). It would be a "fun" part of the salvage gameplay if the "glass" on ship was gathered by hand . (like hand mining). From a rentability standpoint i would make a glass canister kinda expensive to sell , but it would not always be profitable to do glass-gathering on every ship (lost of time better used) ,but on some ships with large windows (aka origin ships) it could be jackpot (better if you let a crew member do that while you scrap the hull).
Question! I have a Phoenix (non Emerald) i brought at IAE, it has the snub which i would like to upgrade to EMERALD, or do i need to own the ''Kruger P-72 Archimedes'' independently of the phoenix? Kudos
I think they just wanted to make sure it was working before they started focusing on balance so I'm not surprised that it works much the same as the smaller tool for the moment.
How many points of damage does the work you performed represent? When you land, does it show any repairs needed? If not then I guess we could uglify our ships by just stripping and replacing hull?
So it can patch a hole, but can it repair a wing? I don't know how I would use this tool but it may come in handy with other players. How much SCU can the bigger gun do?
The range and large boxes handling is better on the larger tractor tool. I noticed it during salvage runs that it is easier to handle 8 and 16 scu boxes with the Greycat tractor beam than with pyro multi tool.
To be fair, if the container size on the two handed is considerably larger, it will hold a lot more than the multi tool. The canisters are so small for the multi tool salvage that it’s basically pointless.
So the sound updates. In space we won't have many sounds at all from what I understand. So good or bad right now might not make a difference. But the no sounds in space is an odd feeling to watch and I suspect even worse playing.
Well it looks nice anyway. While I know the tools aren't meant to compete with salvaging vehicles, they do feel like they need to be a bit faster at what they do. Maybe in a case like Pyro it might have more need though.
The vehicles can't deposit RMC back on a hull. It seems like stripping by hand should be rare (emergency use only to gather material to patch a hull breach or w/e, maybe even moved from your own ship). The real value should be the repair.
@@circuitguy9750 I do think if a vulture can't do a patch job that it is weird that a single hand tool can do both. Maybe they intend to separate that later? Either way, it is fun to use right now, just not practical. Zipping back to a pad ends up being faster and fixes more but hopefully there will be a good reason to do patch jobs.
Think about putting a bunch of people in the back of a vulture with these and they all split half of the profit while you take the other half. Almost slavery.
yeah that tool should be at least four times the speed, area, and capacity of the small tool to be of any use. capacity probably needs to be 10 times actually, and then they could double the small hand tools stats while they're at it
man i tried to play on the current live servers and they are so insainley unplayably bugged its insane, they haven't been this bad since 3.18, not sure how you can play at all. PES is just despaning my body in less than 5 mins, any cargo boxes just despawn immediately even when there are on 3 there
The large tool should be faster and have a larger area then the smaller one makes bo sense that a tool with a wider front area is exactly the same as the tiny multi tool attachment that doesnt take up a weapons slot
I hope they will balance it after taking players's feedback. For taking a full weapon slot, I expect it to be much better than the multi-tool. At least larger area too.
Might fit inside backpack last I checked the maxtrack does, well heavy backpack
It’s always nice to see new stuff in the game :)

Thanks for the detailed review and comparison to the smaller tool!! Very helpful info
Glad it was helpful!
At 3:02 the tool showed "THRUSTER" very briefly the moment before you went to 3rd person view - can the tool repair ship components?

Thanks for the explanation on these, also good to know that there's an outstanding bug with the pip.

Thank you! Enjoy your holidays!
Appreciate the speed you get these demonstrations done dude! Great content.
Thank you!
Thanks for being on it 👍✌️

Very nice!! Looks like a handheld mini vulture.
This thing is awesome thank you for the great content

Wow I had no idea they added this!

Good job! Thank you
I think the sound for the Greycat Industrial Cambio SRT is missing in this version, there is only the sound of the impact but not the beam.
Very cool. I assume the repair is simply cosmetic at this point? I don't know if you tested any damage repairs?
Question! I have a Phoenix (non Emerald) i brought at IAE, it has the snub which i would like to upgrade to EMERALD, or do i need to own the ''Kruger P-72 Archimedes'' independently of the phoenix? Kudos

this one caught me off guard for sure
oh that's so cool greycat is doing big things lol
area of effect maybe the difference? I noticed in your video that you had to get a lot closer with the multi-tool than hand than the rifle.
But can you repair a ship in soft death to a functional state?
No, just minor hull damage. Full mobile repair is not in game yet.
You have to tow that ship to a landing pad to get repaired (but it is not working atm)
Can we repair our ships after bounty hunting missions with it ?
wow i had no idea they were working. I thought they were on vacation!
@Cpt_Foxyloxy Wow! This was unexpected! Glad to see you are on top of new developments!
Thank you! Part of my job.
How many points of damage does the work you performed represent? When you land, does it show any repairs needed? If not then I guess we could uglify our ships by just stripping and replacing hull?
Does repairing your hull with salvage increase your hull HP if you have a damage ship?
I used a repair tool some time ago and yes it did repair the HP
yes
It's the milking gun. It just makes a sound of a hamster drinking from it's drinking bottle
So it can patch a hole, but can it repair a wing? I don't know how I would use this tool but it may come in handy with other players. How much SCU can the bigger gun do?
I think the new sounds are dependant on the environemnt you are in, space you wouldnt hear much but atmo more
The range of the graycat tool seemed better than the pyro multi tool but if that's the only difference I'll probably just stick with the multi tool.🤔

I bet, there will be a paint gun one day too.
I thought they were gonna make it to where we can change the heads??
Hey man cute Gladius.
Thx!
Hoping to repair ships in between bounties, service beacons, or in transit. I picture repairing a snub in the hangar bay between planets.

@@KaryudoDS I think engineering gameplay / room air resources and high repair prices (Pyro) might incentivize us to patch.
I think we dont need 2 tools to salvage and repair i mean if both can can do the thing it makes the other not necessarily
More magic beams. Although, 1000 years from now, tech would appear to be magic to us now
Yet there's no basic stuff that'd be very handy like oh .. night vision ;-) ?
your inventory sorting is working much better than it does for me in live ??
In ePTU I don't have a lot of stuff in my inventory, in live, my inventory is a mess
wait just how much more does the larger SRT hold? just 3 times? would still be worthless to make any noticable money with.
Useful does not always mean only making credits
Do I see the Vulcan?????
fire in space?¿?????
Self repair gameplay will be fun. Imagine - stripping the hull of your ship so you can repair your components. :D
The cambio beam looks like it is 3x as large as the cambio-lite multitool so it only make sense the gather rate is at least three times as fast.
They probably just gave it the same numbers as the pyro for now.
How in the world does a bigger dedicated tool get released without being better than the small version… what?
This is just initial testing in ePTU. we will see how CIG balance it when it goes to live
