So it's the go3 better At thermal control and has a longer battery life than they go2 ? I've become extremely tired of the go-2 overheating while clipped to my hat just simply trying to get a 15 minute long POV shot or the battery dying in about 20 minutes mind you the resolution usually set to 1080p too to try to prolong the battery life and remedy the overheating issue.....
Go pro overheating is a major annoyance. why give us options to film in epic frame rates and resolutions? if all it does is overheat, so we cant record in those rates anyway - frustrating. im old school i guess, i want the best looking image, but they dont make the gear usable/functional. great comparison video - i appreciate you taking that many days to film that.
that's why when you go to tropical regions GoPro is sh**.. from experience, it f-up the battery.. I was using a back up battery which was not original GoPro but of good quality still.., however, I wasn't expecting the damage it did to the battery... battery bulged, GoPro was really burning & it destroyed a hardware. After that, even with original GoPro battery, the screen turns off when recording, it still records but in black screen.. btw, I was at the beach & GoPro was on a tripod & exposed to sun. I think longest it lasted before overheating was 5mins max
If insta did like the GoPro a media mod for external mics for motorbike vlogging I was swop in a heart beat great video here mukka yow did a great job ourkid 🎉
my go 3 overheated yesterday, while editing footage via cell, when the temp outside was a mere 55f or 12.8c. I was in direct sunlight, which would offer more heat, but that seems a bit ridiculous. Since overheating, it no longer gives me the option of U-Disk mode or webcam mode, when plugged into either of my computers :-/ really bummed. I have very important footage on the camera, that I must transfer, so I have to move all files from my internal storage on my phone, into the sd card in my phone...then either connect my phone via usb to my laptop, or pull the card and insert it into my laptop (faster option). In the end, I'm looking at a massive amount of down time while waiting for these huge files to transfer :-/ Then I have to send this camera in for warranty repairs. That sucks IMO.
Fantastic video. So glad I went for the Go 3. Thanks for taking the time to make this comparison video. Now debating if I should return my 64GB to purchase the 128GB one.
Overheating is one of the reasons I chose the Insta 360 One RS over the GoPro (10 or 11) for my daughter's kart racing videos. With the 360Mod lens shooting at 5.3k @ 30fps, it doesn't overheat...even in 30c+ ambient temps while running on a hot track (40c+). The 4K lens works just as well at 60fps. Admittedly, the longest session we've done was around about 40min during a race day where we forgot to turn the camera off after coming into the pits. The GO 3 looks like a good little camera though.
You are not alone. I don't have that camera, but have seen plenty of people complaining that they can't record more that 15 to 20 minutes with it, before it shutdown due to overheating!
Im having issues with it too...latest firmware and everything. Yet it overheated in a temp of 55f while in direct sunlight, while transferring files and not even recording. That's sad 😕
@@Matt_McFaulThat's why these reviews are not trusted! Lot's of people are saying that the go3 overheats! They can't even record more than 15 minutes straight!
Thank you very much. This simple test is very informative! My first foray into action cams was the Hero 8 Black, and hated it due to overheating. But in all fairness, when the battery was taken out and used a usb cable, it went on for 3 hours, then I just stopped it. I also had a heat sink, and when the Hero 8 was sat on it, it recorded until battery died. Both 4K60fps. I'm sure some air flow should make it record longer. But GoPro not being able to have live preview beyond 1080p30, that is super annoying. Go 3 looks interesting. Video quality looks very good, even better than the Osmo Actions. This will make for an interesting decision. Thank you!
See similarities to the overheating tests that was made with the GoPro10 when that was the greatest & latest... they had the wrong setup then also. You have vents under the camera finger mount & by placing the camera flat on the table you have effectively covered them making the camera overheat much faster. With my 10 I get 23min 13sec until overheat with 5,3K 50fps and 69min 45sec on 5,3K 25fps... this with hyper smooth & wifi turned off but with the GPS on, with the camera mounted on a tripod in 25C degrees room temp & still air. Have not a clue if the 11 & 10 differ that much in this regard. It also seems that higher fps generate more heat than higher resolution. Another thing is that these cameras aren't designed to act as indoor, no airflow surveillance cameras videoing for several hours in the highest resolution & fps with external power... they require moving air to operate during longer periods.
Feels like your grabbing at straws a bit there! I do mention the airflow design in the video, Bottom line is I don’t use the GoPro as much as I would like to because I don’t trust it, I trust the Insta360 cameras all day everyday 👍
@@ZanderRound It's a BIG difference between your 37min (with vents covered) & my 69min (with vents open)... if you want to justify your distrust with the GoPro, your test is spot on... but it's not unbiased if deliberately denying one camera ventilation & no point has been made.
@@ZanderRound Think it's definitely worth a test & you have my benchmarks for my 10. But on the other hand, maybe the 11 is worse than the 10 & they haven't ironed out the fw yet. Remember that FPS, Hyper Smooth, Wifi, GPS & lit screens drives heat. If you really want to compere, then use both cameras in a true by design case... use them both while moving, on a bike or strap them on and take a walk.
The camera shouldn’t overheat PERIOD! This isn’t the early 2000s. I have a GOPRO 10 and it’s the most frustrating thing when it overheats while recording. I am selling it for this reason alone.
I bought a gopro.....it sucked....still sucks...never again! What i want is 5 cameras that can all be left on for about 4hrs with external power. I want to control them easily. Any ideas? 😮 Your channel has a good style. Keep up the good work!
Loved the way you tested. I recently bought for my running/cycling/drawing videos and i kind of like it as well, insta360 go 3. Heating i thought would be concerning but seems it will handle it nicely. Thanks.
Interesting test... BUT not realistic. First, your room temperature is 17°C. Try to do same test outdoor under a 30°C or more. You will discover that the Go3 will be over 40°C after 10 minutes. If the Go 3 don't shutdown, it just means that, in factory, it is programmed to shutdown at about 61°C. This temperature could damage components definitely. I really prefer a camera that shutdown by security before destroying components rather than one overheating for marketing reasons.
Totally disagree the GoPro heats up in any conditions and is actually too hot to touch, its a real problem they are not solving, the GO 3 did not over heat in terms of it just wasn’t getting warm at all to the touch, hence no overheating issues, it only naturally ran out of battery as per my tests. You only have to read the comments of other people using it in real world scenarios to understand
@@ZanderRound I don't say that Go Pro don't overheat. I said the your testing conditions are not realistic. And i don't care about comments on TH-cam. I rely on my own experience with the Go 3. I had a Go 3 and i took it back to the shop, under guarantee because of many problems, including overheating problems that appears in outdoor conditions (30°C). Go 3 overheat such a way that you cannot touch it. I measured 41°C. It was already a major issue with the Go 2. The only difference with Go Pro is that the level of security shutdown is 61°C in the factory settings. This value was given to me by Customer support
Can't believe gopro didnt fix the overheating issue. I had the 7 black and it overheated half way down a mountain biking trail ten minutes in at 2.7k. I think the main reason insta360 capped it at 2.7K was because of overheating. The go 1 overheated in a very short time and i think between battery life and resolution, they chose battery life. Im fine with it. 2.7K is the max i shoot eith any camera anyway
Motorcyclist on a tour record longer than an hour. People on vacation use It hours on end on their trip as dashcam. I tend to film a couple of trains once in a while and sometimes I leave it running at a busy place. People climbing or hiking, riding a bicycle tour try to film mostly more than an hour. Almost anyone but you uses It more than an hour at a time. So your test is bogus. Not representative at all. Not everyone is a blogger/vlogger with fast and short clips to keep people watching 😂
The GoPro overheats because it's not designed to sit on a flat surface put it on a tripod and retest. the Gopro is also waterproof and the insta360 only camera is waterproof the charger base is rainproof only, and the camera-only part battery will only last like 30 minutes, the biggest issue is the Insta360 go3 has an internal battery and memory if either one fails your camera is worthless, the Insta360 is a amazing B roll camera for getting shots in small places where the gopro wont fit.

2.7 with 50fps is actually more demanding than 5k 30fps the higher the frames, it overheats faster.
