I met Shaun Edwards here in NZ when he was involved with the Wales Rugby team. I told Shaun I was a massive RL fan and Shaun was really nice to me and talked RL . I always liked Edwards as a player , and the way he was open to me as a fan approaching him made me respect him even more as a person
on another occasion I went to meet him at haigh hall about the same age I guess I was starstruck a bit and over reacted by patting his shoulder and smiling at him I was just a kid.he gave me a funny look and made me feel degraded.bell if your reading this send a reply if you remember this and I will say my peace to you once and for all I am now 33 years old I was about 7 at the time you made me feel degraded after that I lost all respect for you and you were previously my hero.it was the same kid who used to ride his bike near your house and shout hello if ever I was a pain I apologise but I was a niaeve child and you was out of order.
as a NZ Warriors fan Bell's time as the player recruitment manager was controversial to say the least.Bell was behind the whole Sam Tomkins contract .Many Warriors fans didnt like the fact Bell over looked many talented young Kiwi players and went for Tomkins.Bell was confronted about this at the Carlaw Park Die Hards website launch here in Auckland.Bell was'nt happy when being questioned about why he went to the North of England for a player when we have players here in NZ.With all due respect Sam Tomkins is a great player BUT Tomkins was totally ill suited to the NZ Warriors,He struggled with the travel and the NZ way of life.I believe Tomkins was more suited to a Sydney club like the Roosters or St George.
