- In this video we take a look at fixing the problem with the Phone / Naviagation / Radio system on our Range Rover Sport L494. The problem was that these modules were greyed out on the touch screen and could not be accessed. As all these items are on the optical MOST bus ( Media Oriented Systems Transport ) it seemed to point to this being the problem. So in this video we show how to fault find the optical MOST bus looking at the signals to the Amplifier / DAB reciever / Instument Cluster / Touch Screen etc. This should be the same on many Jaguar models like the Jaguar XF

Not come across this problem ... does the heater core get hot .....see my video on the pollen filter change ... this will tell you at least hot air is getting into the area behind the dash

It was leak from sunroof in my car. No sound. But twice came sound for short time. What was your issue?
seems i have the same problem due to a leak, what was the damaged part you had to replace please
Replaced the tubing that rotten and reconnected it. Unfortunately, had to replace a headliner as the leak stained it. Video was very helpful

hi.. great video.. i have a similar issue with my RR 2014. its a US spec import where the radio/nav/phone commands do not respond.. the screen lights up and the other functions are fine.. any ideas what could be causing this to happen?

Ive got same issue, ive got red light at the amp and dab module and i tried the fibre optic loop at both point but still doesnt work..any ideas?? totally stuck..Btw your videos are a great help..
Ours has this problem.. The stereo went out and the navigation.. Similar to what yours looked like.. One time it just popped back on for a day or two and then went out again and has stayed off since... I was thinking it was a fuse but.. Probably something similar to what you've pointed out. A short in the wire have somehow connected again for a bit and then severed again.. A fuse wouldn't have done that. Thanks for sharing

@@L663 We just picked up a Def dosing/quality code and it switched for just a little to a Nox sensor code.. I cleaned the rear O2 sensor and the quality of the DEF is good.. A no start countdown jumped down from 249 miles to just 31 after less then 40 miles.. Still getting combined fuel performance exceeding the 28 hwy with combined over 30.. Do you know which card reader can reset the no start? We have a icarsoft LR 3.0 but it doesn't seem to have those features.. afraid to start it as the miles drop off the computer.. feels like a trap

Hi,i have an issues with my radio,everything works excepted when i pop the volume up,did you have an advice for me?(i have a leak of water under the carpets,i dried the amp at the beginning she was not working anymore,2 days of drying make her works but no sound when i pop the sound up :( RRS 2016 supercharged v8 5L

I have a problem with my Range Rover IV 2015 Audio! I can't select "SOURCE" anylonger (dark backround) in the infotainment system, and i've been without music since half a year now 😥 It started wity bluetooth connection issues, then the radio acted weird, next day no more sound coming out at all and the disc changer is making weird noices.
Any clue where the problem could be?? Please help 🙏🙏

OK so the most likely cause is that there is a failed module in the "Loop"
The problem we found was a blown fuse / lack of power to the module in the boot.
The best way to check is trace the light beam IN - OUT to next module IN - OUT to next module etc
Hi Mate, love the video. HELP re my car is needed. I'm in Perth Australia.
I've got a 07 RR Sport. WITH and intermittent fault re the center console stuff and other items. Its doing my head in..............
So, I start the car, the radio works, Sat Nav and AC all work. Indicators all work.
Then 3-4 or 10 minutes later, a fault comes up on the dash and the lot shuts down, NO Aircon, No Radio, No SatNav, Indicators stop working and Hazard light start flashing plus the central locking on the doors start opening and closing!
Car drives normal.
3-5-10 minutes later it all switch's back on and works again as normal.
THEN 5 mins later OFF again.
No idea what it is................ HELP pls

Brilliant video… I’m on a copart Range Rover exactly the same however Micky mouse as had my most cable just where it goes into the DAB UNIT both wires, toying with the idea of splicing, do you know the part number and costs of a full most loom or would it be better to pull cables out of the connector and just replace from amp under seat to DAB And then from DAB to clocks. Would like your opinion
No sure about making a MOSt cable - I would have thought you could buy them as generic leads ?

Hi i have this exact problem on my car, i took everything apart like shown in the video, i found that my stereo amplifier is not getting any power and doesn't have no optical light coming through, but does have it on the DAB unit which comes after in the trunk. Have you got any idea what fuse or relay sends power to the amplifier and where its located so i can check this before i try to replace the amplifier its self. Your help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.
Looks like fuse 13 in rear fusebox - see below diagram - hope this helps !

Hello. Have you had any luck with this? I'm having the exact same issue with mine. Traced the fiber optic wire from module to module and all seem to be emitting the red light. Haven't checked the amp yet, but the DAB unit in the trunk is receiving the light. Bypassed that, and still no luck so I think it might be a faulty amp that still somehow relays the signal to the DAB. Wanted to see if you resolved the issue before I start taking the seat out to access the amplifier. Thanks!

I am having the same symptoms after my windshield washer fluid hose broke and got my front and back passenger floor flooded...
I removed the subwoofer and got it dry, replaced a blown fuse but I still have the problem. Please let me know if you have any other suggestion besides the one in the video, thank you very much.
I got the optic fiber bypass, and that didn't help with the diagnosis. The only thing I found is that the voltage coming from the amplifier to the subwoofer is 6v in one side and 12v in the other...

On my LR4 2015 diesel is navigation screen totally black, but it make sound when touch it... I would like to check unit connected to MOST - from one side it is connected to Head Unit, ok, easy to find, but on other end it should be connected to "Module-portable audio interface (D463)". Any idea what is it for and more important where is it located? Following optical cable is not really possible without disassembling the front console, so would like to avoid it if it is located at different place.

Hi there, I came across this video and its about as close to the problem I have, that I have been able to find. I'm driving a 2017 TD6HSE LR Discovery and in mid December, while driving, my Infotainment Screen went blank. And has been blank since. No audio, no reverse cam, no sensor alerts etc...its disconcerting but not a problem driving the vehicle. Have you seen a problem like this? The modules you refer to in the above-linked video, I am wondering if its possible that a break of power/data-feed is indicative of a corrupted master-module (if that even exists?). I'm nervous to take it to LR (here in Sydney) because they will be absolutely rob me blind - but the problem also seems so elusive that I am unable to find ANYONE that knows how to even diagnose it. Any help is appreciated!
I would recommend taking to Land Rover for Diagnostics only. They can often plug it in and their computers will tell you which module is faulty. Then get the parts on ebay and swap them over. It could be a fuse etc.

Hello dear . I bought an invery bluethoot device from amazon . The device came and when I plug it into my vehicle, the lights are on. i have read the whole working principle but i have another problem . The car is 2012 model l322 vogue. I have a portable audio module under my seat. I have ipod interference. but the portable audio option does not appear on my car screen. I don't understand what is the problem. I am connecting to land rover. I am connecting to Invery. I also have an apple music subscription. but my main problem is i don't have portable audio option on the screen. whereas there is a module under the seat and the sockets are plugged in. Can you help me please ?

Hey all, question for you. Have you ever done an upgrade from the standard 8" InControl infotainment for the Discovery Sport to the 10.2" InControl Pro? Some quick pictures online appears to be possible (same plugs/fittings). Wasn't sure if this was something you all have attempted yourselves and was hoping for some more details on the matter.

Hello, I'm encountering a similar issue with the audio in my 2014 Range Rover Autobiography, where it has ceased functioning. We've checked the MOST optical connection and confirmed that the light signal is reaching the amplifier. I'm seeking assistance to determine whether this is a power-related problem or if the amplifier is faulty before considering the purchase of a replacement.
You need to check the entire MOST buss - not just to the amplifier - the complete ring needs to be working !

Yes CJ i have a plan on this - i am going to try and "downgrade" my amp - i have the premium 16 cos i am flash ! My logic being if i can downgrade then should be able to upgrade. I may also try a Jag Premium 16 amp in my car to prove they are not coded..... but i am on it like sonic !

This is exactly what I was looking for - thank you! Audio/Nav grey out and would come on/off every other day - very annoying. Some days, the audio/nav would work but then speakers would "clip out" and lose connection. Been about a week now with nothing working. Thoughts on this being a power issue to a module vs. an optical cable issue? Not too sharp on the inner workings of optical cables so due to clipping / spottiness of function -- leaning more towards this being a shorted wire instead of a bad optical cable?
Also do you mind suggesting if I buy one of those loops -- which one I should get and where I should connect?

OK so i have limited experience of this issue so not really sure.... you can buy a loop and bypass some modules like DAB etc but of course you cannot bypass the amp as this is a kep part of the system. It may be worth looking at one of the boot modules as this is downstream of the amp and if there is an issue with the amp i guess that there will be no magic red light on the next device in the loop. Let us know how you get on. We have done the video on the amp... they are cheap on ebay and easy to change yourself.

@@jeffgordon5824 yep - needed to replace the amp under driver seat - don’t bring to Land Rover they’ll quote you 3k - I bought one used from Lithuania for like $300 plugged it in and no problems - need to take the seat out but not that hard

Nice video but I have no power at the touch screen display. Black screen. Absolutely all fuses changed and good. Black screen. Changed the tsp with good one and did not work. How is the tsd powered? I don't understand the correlation of the optical most. Does it carry power also?
The MOST bus only carries data for the system no power. It sounds like you have an issue with power to the touch screen
See attached wiring diagram for the L494 - seems you are looking for power on the GREEN wire with RED stripe. Also check the earth. Any questions let me know.

Hi, wondering if you can help, my disco4s battery went flat one day and a friend jump started it for me from a very big battery he had, I was very surprised how it started so quickly, anyway since then my entertainment system does not power up, I’ve checked the usual fuses and all ok, haven’t checked boot fuses though. Diagnostics say there is no communication with unit. Any ideas? I personally think there was a power surge when battery was flat. Great videos btw

@@L663 hi thanks for the quick reply 👍 yeah I’ve checked them fuses and both ok, I did check a fuse under the bonnet too which was ok, next what I did was check if fuses were getting power, under the bonnet yes but the other one behind the glove box one of the fuses wasn’t getting power, so looks like a break between the two but that’s as far as I got as I really don’t know how to diagnose more
Hi thanks for the wiring diagram, I’ve had another go at it and it’s now fixed, what I did was I removed fuse 18E 50amp checked it for power and was good, put it back in and then noticed that my display had come back to life, weird thing is that I already did this before and nothing, so I don’t care now it’s working 😁👍 very happy again

Hard to say.. sound like checking the fuse would be first place to look.
Exact same problem. Went through a puddle/lake and got water in passenger footwell. Range rover told me amp was ruined. Brought a second hand one today off ebay and fitted it my self, still nothing. Disconnected my battery though while changing due to warning lights from seat, is it ok to have the engine running while i do this job and check the wire with red light.
Yes just be careful if you have the engine running and make sure you are outside ! Let us know how what you find
Hi guys. I’m having the same issue as @grahamdunsford5264. When I Turn on the radio it doesn’t display any channels , play music or connect to any media. The phone will not connect and it says the sat nav is initialising but it doesn’t. It’s a 2016 LR4. I suspect it’s one of these modules. Are they located in the same place in my LR4 as your RR ? Is there a way to check or diagnose which one is faulty before I start stripping the radio and the dash out ? Cheers in advance guys for any and all advice. Keep up the great content in yere channel.

What model have you got ? L494 - do you mean the touch pads at the side of the screen ( not steering wheel )
@L663 it's a 2016, the two black touch modules both sides of touch screen (i think they are called a touchscreen ecu module). I've tried everything to get them back working, disconnected battery etc. I can't find any documentation as to where these are powered from and the wires just go behind and into the dash. Im pretty sure they get their power from either the touchscreen or the cd/navigation box below. Maybe a fuse? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
is LR4 v8 2010 also using MOST (this fiber cable?), if yes which part is actually emiting this red light? Head Unit?
Each unit in the "loop" emits red light to the next unit... so each unit has a receiver and a transmitter of light.
@@L663 yes, but whom is the master? I believe several unit (slave system) will not transmit any light unless he receive light from another unit. In my case I tried to unplug this fiber the easiest part (amplifier) under front passenger seat and I could witness no light from cable, but when I look at the amplifier, it's not emiting light as well (I will double check again). I think the culprit is the head unit. Any opinion?
@@MirandaKiseki I think any unit when powered up will emit light.
I would image the main DVD unit would be the master if there is such a thing - this is where the hard drive is .
Hi when you start the car and try and get the sat nav working it comes up with the message sat nav is initializing but never boots up and when you press the phone symbol nothing happens you cannot pair or get a blue tooth connection one minute it was all fine now just doesn’t work thank you
You could try and disconnect the battery leave it 10 mins and power up - this resets a lot of stuff
You can also buy a new satnav USB stick and try and reload some new software - this is a longshot
The satnav is stored on a hard drive in the main unit with the DVD drive so it does not sound like a MOST bus / communication issue

do you happen to know if it's possible to retro fit traffic sign recognition to a discovery sport hse ?
This may be possible if it has the camera system above the rear view mirror - do you have any other system like lane keep assist ?
@@L663 thank you for your reply. Yes it has auto high beam assist (with camera) and lane keep assist…and AEB - actually i think it has lane departure warning not lane keep assist but it must have a camera for auto high beam for the lights...

Well I’ve checked the physical antenna in the window glass on both sides the lower elements being linked via a cable to small units behind trim on either side of boot area. Drivers side is a small yellow unit marked TV but passenger side is a purple unit marked TV also?! Just how reliable were these units in first place given that vehicle obviously moves around so keeping a signal must be difficult?! Am I chasing a unicorn?? 🤔
It would be funny if it us just a blown DAB fuse :D

I have red light in the fibre. I made a diagnosis and it came out that the amp doesn't receive anything

@@simonjefferson I put the ignition and on the cable where there is written amplifier below the seat and I have no red light. On the other hand, at the screen I have the red light coming out of the fibre

@@L663 power and fuse is good. I pulled plug from rear of unit and I get 12vts from plug. I don't see any light coming out of optic ports either. Does this confirm I have a bad TSD?

Trying this forum. I'm moving to back to the UK from USA and have a USA spex RRS l494 supercharged. I'd like to update the infotainment nav to a UK / EU map and potentially change the Sat radio module to DAB. Is anyone able to help and let me know if this is even feasable. (I intend to take the eu often for holidays so having a LHD car is USeful for that purpose.) Thanks
Hello again.. I too love travelling to France ( we have a house there ) so understand why a LHD car makes some sense.
The DAB module just sits on the MOST bus so should be possible to add the module but you may need to update the CCF files to tell the car that it is there.
The EU maps can be purchased on USB and downloaded.

Hi Ken - the units are not that expensive on ebay - if you have the engineering number on your item looks for the same item on ebay.
