1984 gründeten sie sich als Lucifer´s Heritage, 1987 nannten sie sich in Blind Guardian und von da an begann ihr Aufstieg zu einer der erfolgreichsten Metal-Bands Deutschlands. Noch heute headlinen sie die größten Metal-Festivals mit ihrem von Fantasie-Literatur (insbesondere „Der Herr der Ringe“) inspirierten, eingängigen Sound.
Frontmann der Krefelder Band ist Hansi Kürsch, dessen kraftvoll-melodischer, einzigartiger Gesang zu den wichtigsten Erkennungsmerkmalen der Gruppe zählt. Wenn er Klassiker wie ‚The Bards Song - In The Forest‘, ‚Mirror Mirror‘ oder ‚Valhalla‘ anstimmt, erheben sich tausende von Fan-Stimmen, um gemeinsam mit ihm die Zeilen zu singen.

It's just wonderful that they wrote a song about the most iconic and important moment of the Tolkien's tales. They managed to put into the song the feeling we sense during the reading like evil has tainted heaven.
