  • In this video, I do long exposure photography using ReeXpose for the iPhone.
    Creating motion blur and light trails with really long shutter speeds and capture times for those dreamy smooth fine art photos.

    I know this video is 8 months old, but speaking as a mobile app developer, I've actually been able to verify that it's possible to take a photo on an iPhone 15 pro max at approximately 1/36000 of a second. It might be possible to go faster (iOS reports up to around 1/64000), but overheads seem to make that out of bounds, and you're also still going to be limited to being able to only take a few shots per second (again, due to overheads of the camera freeing up resources after it takes a shot).

    Very cool! I have a 14 Pro and it looks like I need to explore it more! I think a key purchase may well be a tiny tripod because the point is somewhat defeated if you still need to carry a large tripod everywhere!

    • @pnwadventurer9674
      @pnwadventurer9674 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you would have to take a tripod with any camera to take images like this, it’s just a tool

    • @Retset
      @Retset ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pnwadventurer9674 True, but a small tripod (which it turns out I already own ...) could make this a nice pocketable solution. The new app from the same company that doesn't need a tripod at all would be the perfect opportunistic setup, albeit jpeg only.

    A small sensor and small lens will never compete with larger ones. It's basic physics. It might have come a long way, but spending the money on a purpose built pro camera of the same generation will always beat it. In fact a DSLR of 10 years ago with an L lens will still be better.

    at 4:33 image example.. it was not a 30 seconds exposure.. it was less than 3 seconds.. in 30 seconds the ferris wheel could have moved with even longer trails but here it s just bit..otherwise only good thing in such images are light trails.. which takes the illuminance of every image and overlays to the image beneath it. Look at 6:12 .. does water remains that sharp with a 5 sec long exp? This camera and Moment Pro Camera are exactly the same..
    i've a 10 years of photography experience.. none of Apple camera could produce that manual control what a DSLR has or an android phone gives... whereas Google Pixel doesn't give that privileged access what a colorOS on Oppo give. I've iPhone 12, Google Pixel 4, and Oppo f19. No double Google Pixel and Iphone prodcues amazing pictures but when it comes on manual control and long exposures.. Oppo really gave me DSLR quality pictures and amazing controls. I only use this for true long exposure pictures.

    Nicely done! Blending multiple shots is not real long exposure though. It is visible in the light trails which look terrible. iPhone is the last resort for long exposure even with overpriced 3rd party Apps. You can have better results with mid range Android phones from 10 years ago and a filter. There is an idea for a video! 😉

      Wow, such a closed-minded opinion. Remember that the best camera is the one that you have with you. Sometimes you don't want to lug around a full camera and lens. So Mark and others reviewing phone options for those times when we don't want to be weighed down but still be able to capture unexpected photo opportunities are great.
