Why did they go for a traditional type foundation?

This is not a proper way of doing foundation if you are doing a permanent structure. You only get to do this if you are doing something temporary to save on cost as the actual floor weight is within the containers. Containers are supported at the corners and in the middle. That is why our structure has pillars at the edges and in the middle. This is ideal for containers.
