I've notice more innovation in your designs, which I like....The 2 bedroom part-1 we saw the container double doors welded open and a floor installed to extend a rooms size....In this current one the glass doors with side glasses and horizontal bars allow for a more open feel and light....I'd like to see these used more as Windows to brighten up the home and provide excellent views....Inspiring work....Are you familiar with polished concrete floors?
Yes but we have never tried it in containers.

Hopefully it's technology moves forward with this container homes hopefully they will remove the old shacks and huts of old cartrolated metal that was just placed together so that it can start making the area more friendly to those who want to visit it

Hello Stephen these are done after clients preference is implemented in the design layout and that is the tiles and the materials for a wahsroom installation.

You are not using any insulation, your customers will get sick from condensation and mildew buildup. You have to insulate inside and outside for air quality and temperature control.
One bedroom apartment with big windows transportation from where you are to malindi will cost me about how much? With everything already made. Spacious kitchen a tiny bathroom and a bedroom windows everywhere for good lighting. And the container outside to be painted pink.
It is very possible. The house will cost you 900k, transport and offloading to Malindi will cost 140k

We only allow partial payments through out the construction period. A two bedroom can cost averagely around 2M to 2.5M

Budget constraints. Internal cladding will be done later
@@CubesandContainers Internal cladding may cause mold to form due to the weather conditions in Nairobi, however, you could consider external cladding which would limit this and also save on internal useable space.
@@RoyGithaigaM I see people use wooden pallets to clad outside of containers. Is this for aesthetics or it also helps in insulation? What type of external cladding did you have in mind?

Its actually the cold at night that had them insulating. Upepo isiku was too much. Our big openings handled the day heat.
Isn't the insulation a form of prevent from mold ?

I was listening to the first video which brought me to this video but I guess I have a question was it the owner's choice of not insulating it why wasn't the house insulated they think because it was hot during the day do they think that they wouldn't need it during the night so why did they choose not to insulate it you have to prepare for everything warm and hot weather and installation is a must in any home whether it is a stick build or a metal container especially a metal container so I guess the question is why did they choose not to insulate
Their finances wouldn’t let them at the moment and the needed to move in as fast as possible. The very first pressing need was a roof then the insulation they would handle later which they managed to do after a few months

How do you treat the afternoon heat and night cold? No wall insulation will leave the occupants experiencing temp variances which will also affect internal fittings.
My concern too. Insulation is a very important part of container fabrication
Mostly they use air conditioner
Heat is not an issue. However, they experience a lot of cold at night thus need for insulation soon when their finances allow.

Yes they are. the windows and doors have burglar proof grills on the inside
Would you consider the idea of killing the 'container look' for it to look more conventional
Yes but it then beats the sense of using a container unless you do it sparingly just to give it character
What about plastering the walls with cement to give it a flush look on the exterior part so that someone won't even know it's a container house
@@kimm219 treating the external facade of the container to allow for cement is an expensive task...you would have to later involve maintenance for it may and possibly will crack. However, one can use treated timber to clad them externally.
1. Timber is a renewable material.
2. Cement is not renewable.

@Loretta Davis The temparature in Kenya ranges between high 70°F to mid 50°F in the nights and no much humidity in most cities. Its breezy and dry air during the day so no need for insulation for too hot or too cold weather.
@@verakathuri3662 the material of the container however will allow for condensation iternally which may, if not treated well, cause molding. Insulation is not a necessary step for container hoes in Nairobi, but external cladding is.

It is why I said, "If not treated well"... you also can't compare the cabin size and the tech that goes into cars to a container house... cars come with preinstalled air conditioning, container homes do not and that is what makes the difference.

A plain 40ft high cube as of today would go for 480k
1.5 MILLION Kenyan = $14,500 usd which is a great price! That home in the U.S. would be 3-4 times that.
