Should have gone for more click bait in the title: “he attacked from the gun and you won’t believe what happened next” 🤣 Good clip - banged out a Darwin session while watching
It was mentioned that this race was done on a CX bike, but not a lot of detail went into it’s setup for road racing. Mainly I’m curious as to the gearing on the bike, 1x or 2x? What chainring and cassette sizes? I have been looking into using my CX bike for both road and CX racing so that I can have less bikes, and I’m trying to see what setups are viable for all purposes with minimal change.
Hi! Great breakdown! I was wondering: regarding the corner where the crash happened, weren't all of the riders kind of turning too soon at every lap, as if they where turning into the other corner which didn't have that peculiar decreasing radius? Wouldn't it have been faster to wait longer in a straight line and turn way later into it?
At 6:13 he talks about the guy Ethan taking a bit to recover after the effort to catch the breakaway. Where is the line between sitting on for a bit to recover and being a bum? I feel like I've seen a few of these vids where a guy will catch a breakaway and then sit on and sprint to the finish for the win without taking a pull.
he must be "popular" in mtb or cross must've been stroking his ego because he came nowhere near first place. He even lost to the other breakaway riders by a long margin in the sprint. Fourth place if I counted correct wouldn't even podium
his CX bike with high BB is actually a big advantage in the curves as you can pedal more through the curves. And rim brakes or disc brakes doesn't matter for how far from the corner you start braking... it's flat and dry so the Skyhawk guy could have braked later in the corner. It's just his braking habit, nothing to do with the type of brake.
Keegan is one of the top xc mountain bikers in the US. He's on the Elite Men squad for USA Cycling World Championship Team. I would hope the USA Olympic hopefuls would be a cut above.
3:00 the guy behind doing a peace sign lol
Just to let you guys know 'Sky Hawk's name is Kaden Hopkins. Its pretty cool to see someone
I have raced against in this video
Race with him in Cuba, Elite Caribbean Championship, he won the TT
I sent the link to him on Strava so he could check it out.
He is a super strong rider
He is Sky Hawk now!
Bermuda’s very own, Kaden Hopkins!! 🇧🇲 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man, strong, strong, strong. The way that Gateway dude sprinted after such a gritty breakaway was just impressive.
Damn. This collegiate race is faster than the collegiate races we have here in Cali..... oof
timtimzi ni this is the P1 category. Not collegiate. It was hosted by a college

Thanks guys, I was legit excited a bunch of times as your analysis unfolded.
Talk about strong haha good lord those are some big watts from 140 pounder with the Remco CdA factor.
Wow, really fun one to watch!
I feel so bad for the guy that crashed.. Seems like something I would do :(
There is a saying in the motorcycle community about cornering. It's something like: 'fast in, dead out'.
I wiped my screen because of your profile pic
Kaden Hopkins aka “Sky Hawk” 🔥
Epic Lactate Buildup. What a battle!
Very nice, great job...
Been looking for races in AZ with no success....currently in Chandler AZ. Any recommendation on places or websites I should look?!
'Sky Hawk' form is solid
@22:13 when the crash is replayed you can see his front wheel hits that nice big tar patch or painted lines oops
Ive had good results with similar or countering a team mates attack in crits. Being the powerhouse of our team in a crit is a worthwhile move.
The course around the softball feild is so much better!

He was using a 52-36 crankset with an 11-32 cassette
@@TrainerRoad It's too extraneous for me to explain, but your response has given significant happiness in my cycling life. :)

Thats definitely a part of racing: understanding that even though there is a best/fastest/safest line, doesn't mean everyone will follow it! :)
was expecting this to be an april fools

Hey.... I was at that race!
rider in white on the s-works rocking side to side when going hard seems dangerous..
the power diagram at the bottom of the screen is a bit of a spoiler ;)
Keegan's practicing for zwift racing!
Rookie move attacking before going into a hairpin.
Keegan is a fuckin’ beast!
Lucky it worked. Most of the time doesn't work! The main field might have been conservative.
Full out, and keeping it up. Very clever. Congrats. Go Pro and compare to that category.
Other than that: There is nothing I can learn from this.
How was the camera carried ? :-)
We mount the GoPros to the handlebars and seatpost.
What a beast
Just great, I'm finally getting over a similar crash in a turn...Now the PTSD has kicked back in:(
Why does no one wear gloves in the US, when they race?
More importantly, when they crash
propo90 Aero gains.
Who did it work for, who won the race?

Their was a cyclist riding in the opposite direction that distracted him for a split second causing the crash.
Why does the bio say 198 cm? Imagine 198cm at 63.5 kg LOL
Right???
Oops! Keegan is actually 178 cm; Tucker just went in and updated the post
I don't see how it worked. Didn't he get fourth not first. Got jumped at the end by the only other two that were with him
Ya, he didn't win.
Yeah this race sucked ass. Can confirm. 3/4 of the field was pulled by 30 min in, i was that group that got pulled.
Don't be too hard on yourself there Big Shoots. I'm sure you gave a huge effort.
Yolo
5'10 and 140 wtf....
I’m 5’10 150 lmao 😂
tiny
This guys has a 6w/kg ftp? Obviously not natural...
