Join us for an evening stroll from Victoria Park to Newhaven Harbour!
Newhaven Harbour is small and easy to miss and overlooked by the larger and busier Leith Harbour nearby.
The harbour dates back to the 15th century when James IV turned it into a Royal Dockyard where he began constructing the 'Great Michael', the largest warship in Europe at the time. After King James IV's demise and being badly damaged in 1544 by English troops, Newhaven continued as a small fishing village which grew to be very successful.
The harbour was redeveloped in the late 1800s and the new Fish Market was built.
The picturesque lighthouse and variety of restaurants and eateries make Newhaven a great spot to visit on your next trip to Edinburgh!
