This is mind blowing scam 😒 this research proves how important Djokovic and Murray ( unfortunately he was out) are to save the Tennis. Novak did it alone for so much time now and actually bashed everyone. I really see now why everyone ( establishment, players and media ) are so afraid of him .unfortunately for Djokovic ,players know but they never support him in unison openly and help him improve the functioning of ecosystem.PTPA can't function with individual contribution!

Nadal had the balls to compare him missing tournaments due to "injury" to the US not letting Novak in for a not having vaccine 2 years post pandemic, which is complete anti science BS (Especially since if you are a citizen you can play if you dont have the vaccine). Though illegal immigrants can cross the border being covid positive without any issues. This is no surprise as Nadal continues to show what a little piece of shi* he is.

Pfff no biggy...lets just add it to the list:
    Djokovic simultaneously had to:
    - Beat the best players on the other side of the net
    - Beat hostile crowds that constantly boo and whistle during his serve and during play
    - Deal with constant media fake news and trash journalism
    - Deal with politics and even entire governments that use him as a political scapegoat
    - Deal with rigged tournament draws that are favorable to his main rivals
And that is why this dude has been the GOAT for years now... not only does he endure all that, he overcomes it, becomes unstoppable and like Kyrgios said... "we created A MONSTER"... not even stopping him from playing tennis slowed him down... let that sink in...

Sont forget how pathetic the time violation call was made in the middle of the second set tie breakers at wimbledon 2023. Times to perfecti9n disrupt Novak's rhythm. If not for that, he probably would've won the 2nd set and went on to win the match.

Novak's draw at US Open has been insanely brutal compared to that of the opponent he faced in the final. In 2010, 2013 and 2021, Novak's semi final opponent all but killed his chances of winning the title. In 2011, the draw was equally brutal, but Novak somehow managed to lift the champions's trophy.

Novak wouldn’t have won the title in 2010 and 2013 because he wasn’t as good as 2011 and he faced the best ever versions of Nadal on hard courts. In 2021 it wasn’t just his semifinal match; it was also the fact that he had been playing so much tennis at such a high level that it tired him out.

There was an SI issue last year in which Jon Wertheim says that the draws are done in tournament directors office, but that he (JW) knows (sic) that the draws are not fixed. Anyway, I have to tell you that I wrote about this on SC back in 2009 or 2010 because at that time there was enough statistical evidence that this was happening, and it was obvious to me. I have still a few points to make here. A certain sporting goods company didn't install their man Robert Helfant to lead the ATP just because he looked nice (he didn't 😉). He was the guy who led the negotiations with Federer when they signed him to, at the time, a record contract. He was there to make sure that every final was the holy grail of finals: Federer-Nadal. Second point: the "tournaments" didn't put any consideration around Murray. He wasn't a problem. Đoković was. Third: RG draw has definitely been being fixed all along, including this year. I calculated around one in 1000 probability for this distribution to happen. Just think about two times a chance to meet in quarters, and it happened both times (12.5 % just for those two draws). Then every time there is a 50% chance that they met in semis, they really meet in semis. The only exception was 2009, and we know what happened in 2009 and who won the RG, and who wouldn't have been in any goat conversation if he hadn't "won" that trophy (who was the president of the ATP then 😉?). Good job, and do one dedicated to RG!

Just subscribed - keep it coming - I'm in my 70's and grew up with a racquet in my hand - I was no professional but duked it out with guys who had played Davis cup back in the Amateur days..... I watched from Laver/Roche/Emerson/Newcombe onwards .... all the greats LIVE/even Borg ...... What you are doing is slowly building the complete picture as to why Novak is the GOAT ... at the end of the day there will always be those whose cognitive dissonance will simply blind them to 'the complete picture' you are creating ..... for me what blows me away is his mental strength .... imagine Roger dealing with Boo's, he'd melt like a snowflake, and he never gave Novak any respect until he realised Novak was going to keep kicking his arse - Rafa you have to respect his fighting Spirit and no doubt he was the King of Clay but I believe even he would have struggled with the years of Negativity that Novak has endured ( and as many hypothesised, his playing style has caught up with his body ) , and lets face it Novak would have won The Aussie Slam in 2022 if he had been allowed to play (just look at the 2023 demolition job on one leg! ) etc etc he's not just the GOAT but easily The GOAT and I can tell by the time you have finished it will be clear to anyone with a clear coherent and objective mind ...... Lastly barring injury or political B/S he is going to finish with a record that will never be beaten - I'm predicting 30+ slams .... I salute you for paying homage to one of the greatest sportsman of all time he's in the Ali /Jordan club.......

About the clay matches: based on the H2H at the time, Djokovic was more likely to lose to Nadal than Federer at the time because he had faced Nadal more times (3) than Federer (1) and had the same win percentage (0%) against both, so there is a larger sample size for his matches with Nadal which is more telling. And Djokovic was on Nadal’s side of the French Open draw every year from 2006-10.

Excellent work. Nothing like solid numbers to prove something statistically. Although are you really sure? I mean, a major sports organization being corrupt?! (sarcasm)
Organizers will do anything to boost their own pocketbooks. Nothing against Federer or Nadal, they are great players and nothing can take away from that, but Djoker has truly been on another level in his prime. Without so many fixed and easy draws, and the number of slams he has achieved again are, numbers in proof of how great he has really become. Now they are doing even SHADIER stuff by banning him from tourneys altogether because he hasn't been vaccinated. What a pile of absolute RUBBISH. Not vaccinated??? From something that people who ARE vaccinated against (AND boosted 4 or more times) catch anyways? From something that 99.99999% of people survive, vaccinated or not?! Again, numbers are the proof, and I truly feel for Djokovic for being shafted time and time again. Travesty. Thank you for your work and pointing out something most of us were unaware of. I am offended that a sport I love is run by such individuals who are being anything but honorable and fair to all the athletes.

Very interesting analysis. Thanks for sharing. To me it is real simple. Traditional drawings should have in the quarters - #1 seed vs #8 seed, #2 vs #7, #3 vs, #6, and #4 vs #5. Semifinals should be #1 vs #4, and #2 vs #3. In your scenario of 12 Grand Slam semi’s it was Fed vs Nole #2 vs #3 at 5 different draws, which I think was right and fair, and the other 7 were not the typical usual fair seeding draw.

  • @Lucian86
    @Lucian86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I have some problems with this:
    1. Why excluding Roland Garros ? Sure for Nadal it didn't matter who faced in SF but it did for Federer. Djokovic was an worse opponent than Murray (who wasn't great on clay) yet he was in the same draw 2/4 times. If you want to exclude RG because it's a separate event then you should do the same for each tournament (as they have different organizations) and calculate the probabities separately.
    2. Sample size is small. Probability calculations assume that a certain event is repeated to the infinite. Just because a certain outcome happen many times in a row, that doesn't invalidate the overall probability. Take a coin for instance and launch it 100 times. You'll get roughly 50:50 heads and tail but it's very likely you'll get 7 heads or tails in a row at some point. Putting the RG into the equation as well, it doesn't look that bad.
    3. I get why Djokovic vs Federer and Nadal vs Murray somehow initially gave better odds to have a Fedal final but at the time both were dominant so it didn't make much difference. Moreover, Djokovic beat Federer in AO SF. Clearly there was an edge Djokovic might have against Federer there so you should factor this in. You assume that these match-ups gave the best odds to a Fedal Final..Not necessarily... you should check tournament by tournament.
I'm not excluding though there might have been some fixes here and there but the assumptions for these calculations are too general and the interpreations too biased.

It's a really good video with some thorough research
    However ,
    1) Roger and Rafa's respective head to heads were not too different with each of Novak and Andy . I mean you can't say that 4:1 and 1:1 are too different or 2:0 and 3:2 are so one sided that you should keep Murray/Djokovic away from Fed/Rafa
    2) In fact Djokovic literally beat Fed in straight sets to go on and win the AO'08 . I think beating Fed in straight sets in a grandslam semi outside clay and ending his grandslam final streak since RG'05 semis was a really big statement instead of some ATP matches
    3) And there are 9 masters 1000 and the World Tour Finals , draws of which have been completely ignored
    4) And RG is given a separate category just cause Rafa was winning seems like cherry picking , even Fed was winning all the grass tournaments back then so why not separate Wimbledon too ?
5)Hell , Fed was winning most of anything outside clay prior to 2008
Which is why these stats seemed at least a bit cherry picked to me .

The manipulation was done to increase the likelihood of the top 2 seeds in the finals. This was associated with higher TV ratings for the final. The slams receive more money for higher TV ratings in the final. It was done for survival purposes. Without the good ratings for the finals the slams would not survive financially. This benefit to Federer and Nadal was not necessarily intended but rather incidental to them being the top two players at the time. Now I'm not saying this is ok, it's actually criminal. I just think the intentionality of benefiting Fed and Nadal still needs to be proven. It hasn't in my mind from what I've seen. To add to this I think that This match fixing did not start in 2001, it started long before this and likelihood is that it did not end in 2011. Also why did they not do further studies since 2011?
