Thank you for the post. A while back it happened to me and the vehicle was under warranty, so I took it to the dealer and they fixed it for free. But now is not under warranty. Lol. Soni have to fix on my own. Thx again, I will try this way.
Hey local boy, you are the best. I have been trying to fix my sister's 2001 PT cruiser because the hatchback would pop open when u press the brake and drain the battery because the dome lights would stay on and with ur video it hit like lightning to check the lock actuator. Well the insulation cracked off the mechanism and the metal was shorting to the body of the car. I unplugged the lock power and now the hatch back doesn't pop open. Thank you dude for the insight to the issue. Woooooo. Now I can enjoy my day off and 4th of July weekend.
My 300 doing same thing Man… I am debugging all the stuff… but found out this is the issue. I removed the latch and straight away it stays locked. Put a thread and all good now. Thanks a ton Man. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey man thank you for making this. Gonna try it this weekend as my POS 2016 Dart GT has been having this issue for a while but very sporadically. Really hoping this fixes it as it makes the most sense. Thanks again bro
Unfortunately this did not fix my issue. I tried the same thing you just did here. Still the same issue with the trunk popping. Oddly enough if the car is locked it won’t pop. I think the button on the racetrack light needs to be replaced for the 2nd time to fix my issue.
This was a big problem for my 2014 Dodge Dart. The boot kept opening up randomly even when the key fob was inside the house. I opened up the key fob and found the smoking gun. The contact area for the switch that opens the boot was covered with gook. All it needed was a good cleaning.

Unbolt it completely and lock it with a hanger or something. If it. doesn't just pop open then you can very easily track it down.
Yep, I only post 1 of 10,000 possible solutions 😆. Keep working on it bud and do not give into the dealer at all bro. Hang tough.
thank you so so so much ,you saved me tons of moneyand time
Hope this helps for my 2021 Chevy Malibu
My 2018 Chrysler 300 keep popping out while I'm driving!
Heck yeah thank you man
the car needs a sense switch repair kit it is in the center light assembly in the trunk
That did not work. I tried that. What I did was the only way to fix it. Well, I wasn't wanting to spend anymore hours tracking.
Does that cost more that a little thread tape? 😆. Jk
This helped me. Thanks bro
That looks like a design flaw.
