Really? You just drive along the same route everyday and all day how would that correlate 😂😂 everyone thinks they know London until they begin the knowledge then they realise they don’t actually know anything at all
@@jamesjohn4994 I'm not talking about knowledge of London. I think a video London Taxi Driver Vs London Bus driver would be interesting . Could discuss the differences in both jobs.
I would definitely be interested in some video from a London bus driver. Is it allowed to stick a go pro in your bus looking forward and making a day vlog? You can also make a few sitting down at home video ofc talking about a few topics. If you have some videos of yourself already Tom might be more likely to make a video with you.
At 9:05 you have the picture of the 5 divisions of the guards, that show the differences in the number of buttons and plumes on the bearskins hats between all five. Grenadier white left, Coldstream red right, Scots no plume, Irish blue right, and Welsh green/white on left
Done 27 years in the cab….thought you might have asked him why is a cab called a cab…miss that side of the job and loved a natter but sadly I can’t deal with London anymore but met some interesting people along the way
The household cavalry hold seniority over the foot guards. In fact all cavalry regiments have seniority over all infantry units. The Life Guards are also the most senior regiment in the entire army.
I can see a triumphant collaboration between you guys. Stronger together- and for sure earning more money as a team! There is a lot of money to be made for both of you given your cross-pollination of skills.
@@JohnSmythe-od4gk Ow nice to know :) I is still a bit odd to me how close the scandinavian languages are sometimes, considering they are not of germanic origin a.f.a.i.k. A Finnish friend once told me that he could follow our Dutch conversation because he also spoke some Swedish....which surprised me, as I honestly can't understand any Swedish :D
@BuzzinsPetRock yeah the scandì languages are pretty close to ours. I’m a Brit who learned Danish in Denmark and yes I think I could guess a lot of Dutch now (at least the written kind).
And Norwegian. We are taught that the name comes from when the Vikings “ruled” London. Norwegian/Nordic languages is a part of the same Germanic languages.
Nawww that was so fun! I wanted more when it was over :) This could be a regular series I would watch with the friendly competition while learning something
The only two facts I knew were the American related ones. I didn't know the World Cup was stolen. I can't believe that hasn't been made into a movie yet.
@Tom the Taxi Driver this would be on videos where you explain the route and show some footage. Example video: th-cam.com/video/O3Xqiw55Ktw/w-d-xo.html
Really interesting stuff, mate! But not sure what the point of the 'TLDR' recaps that kept popping up was. Trust me, if we're watching this all the way through, we're interested in the long explanation!!
Seems a bit pointless if we can’t drive to certain areas where they might be needed. If someone needs a bandage in the city in daytime… that’s a game over 😩
I think you let him off lightly by just sticking to the bread and butter obvious tourist facts which become repetitive on his everyday tours, take London on a wider scale and you would have won hands down, still great fun.
That was quite fascinating, Thanks for the fun fact history tour! One of the tour guides I've been watching from time to time is @Joolzguides. He might be an interesting character to colab with as well. Cheers from Germany.

You should do back of the cab interviews with different and interesting guests - I would watch.
I've seen something like that before but they only ever interviewed women
@@Ze-Germanzuk 🤣 - were these women estate agents also?
@@Ze-Germanzuk wasn't that a fake taxi though???
We've all seen those taxi videos but not on TH-cam

Jack is fantastic, I did one of his tours around Lambeth last year. I can't recommend him enough!

Love your collaborations. Really enhances your excellent London videos
Love the history of London, so much history from many monarchs and events.
Being a cabbie for over 20 years these facts and little hidden gems about the city we work in are brillant keep up the good work tom

Absolutely love learning more about the history of London so really enjoyed this. Hoping we get a Part II & beyond 🙏
In Dutch (you know, the other Germanic language) strand is the word for beach, no letter swapping required :)
Same in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish

It's amazing learning all these facts. I've run a few races along a lot of of these roads and I wish I knew these things before I ran them
Awesome video! Loving the book Jack! Tom and Jack - London tour guide experience heaven!
1 min upload! Hi Tom, I’m really enjoying your channel and videos. Keep up the good work 👍.
Taxi drive your guide and delivery driver would be even better 😂😂 I know my way round London in a van no problem
This was so much fun Tom. Thank you! I'm going to get Jack's book 😊
I really love Tom's haircut as of recently!
I put an order in for that book as soon as the video was done! Gonna make my upcoming London journy this sommer even better! 😁👍
fun fact: Strand in german means Beach! therefore i was confused 2 times. 1st why is there a Strand in english and 2nd why is there no beach...
It used to beach the river Thames, when the Thames was much wider 👍🏻
One of your best. Hope your 'passenger' paid the meter (and tipped well!)
Great video Tom Really would Love to see more of this type of thing, really enjoyed it!
Brilliant!! 🤩Great video with @livinglondonhistory 👏 driving around London! 🚖🚕 Perfect plan!!
Very interesting, "strand" still literally means beach in German!
Likewise in dutch
And Norwegian. We are taught that the name comes from when the Vikings “ruled” London. Norwegian/Nordic languages is a part of the same Germanic languages.
In Swedish we spell beach Strand as the location name.

Should start a taxi ride podcast
This was brilliant Tom, I love collecting little known facts about London. More videos like this one would be great.
What a nice informative tour-chat!
Do more like this!!!! Love it!
More of this please, it was brilliant!
This was brilliant! I think a round 2 is in order!
I could’ve watched this for hours.
You probably no this, but Parliament Square wa the UK first roundabout, (1926).
The only two facts I knew were the American related ones. I didn't know the World Cup was stolen. I can't believe that hasn't been made into a movie yet.
There was a TV movie called ‘Pickles, The Dog Who Won The World Cup.’
‘Pickles’ the dog discovered the stolen cup on his morning walk with his owner.
Thank you for this free tour of London without having to come into London
Got a quick suggestion, could you possibly add on your usual videos how much you earnt on each journey? Just a rough idea
On this video?

How much did the taxi ride cost in the end??
wow, I never knew that about Westminster Abbey
oh my god its my two favourite people
Great video, very informative. I wondered if you'd get to Cleopatras Needle. 👌
Here's a question for you Tom, whatever happened to the statues on top of the lever building just over the North side of Blackfriars bridge?
Tom are you getting those new "military grade" bandages to carry in your cab? Would deffo want a video on them if you do
