    Our society today is trash, when compared to the dialogue, skilled actors, and story line. This is when intelligent shows required folks to think !! Thank you so much for sharing these !

    I was 6 yrs old when this movie was made. Movies told stories then. And men could fist fight for 15 minutes and not be out of breath! Your just barely one year past me! And I do remember the cleanest ,bathing, Tailored clothing, hats etc. both my parents dressed with great taste as well as we the children. We were by no means rich but we took care of our clothing and shoes. Sadly I always felt I was born to late, but at least we had a very good taste of real society then. And I do miss it so much. These wonderful gems of the movies are just great to see!

      TCM went straight downhill not long after the dear & wonderful Mr. Osborne had to leave & subsequently crossed over :( . I was pretty much done with them, but once they put "The Garbage Pail Kids" in their lineup I was gone for good.

    • @waynej2608
      @waynej2608 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jeannetimpson5564I agree that Osborne was a very competent host for TCM. He's the original and is definitely missed. But the folks hosting now are all quite good as well. And the films are still diverse and generally worthwhile. I guess I must've missed The Garbage Pail Kids, and I'm fine with missing it. Lol
      I love their noir Sat nights with Eddie Muller. The gals are impressive too; Alicia Malone for foreign films and Jacqueline Stewart for silent films.
      I appreciate that they offer an eclectic array of films. Cheers.

      These movies were meant to be seen on a BIG screen and preferably in a Movie Theater with no jumping backwards and forwards.
      Robert Osborne was the best Host ever to be on TCM. The new group are way too WOKE for my tastes.@@waynej2608
      I'm surprised they don't find the older classic films either too racist, homophobic or some other "phobic" and in many cases they sadly do find them inappropriate.

    Film noir is addicting; I've watched over a hundred in just the past few months...some are actually great but most are like cheap thrills one can't get enough of. Love the old cars and dinner clubs with full orchestras and dancing. Try not to let the process-formula used to make these movies become boring. In this one, like many others, we have the balding old man with the young pretty wife...not very plausible but that's how Hollywood makes believe. The girlfriends can change affections instantly depending which way the money is flowing. Other repeat offenses are the constant smoking and drinking. Celebrating? have a drink; Depressed? have a drink...and smoke anywhere you please...even in an elevator or right in the lady's face....If the door's locked there's always a window to crawl through. Conclusions are frequently swift...a shoot-out makes for a quick, slam-dunk ending and the leading guy/girl sail off into the sunset. I still can't figure how the writers produce such similar salad-bar scripts. The stories vary but some things never change: even the thugs wear suits, ties and hats and the women are lavishly dressed, even at home alone in their mansions. The sharp dressing is cool. I'd keep writing but I gotta run...to find more noir!

    Great little movie really kept my attention. When I saw the Rolls, I thought "Ooh, a foreign car!" California was a hot-spot for foreign cars in the '50s. For more great '50's noir, and foreign-car spotting, check out 1954's 'Drive a Crooked Road' starring Mickey Rooney and Kevin McCarthy. Mickey's character plays a foreign-car mechanic who gets conned into being the getaway-car builder and driver for a bank robbery. Jack Kelly is in that one too. and of course Allison Hayes may be best known for her role in the original 'Attack of the 50 Foot Woman'!

The millionaire’s daughter and Marge, wife of the drunk, were good looking dames but Marge was probably the better make out artist because she had to be. Jack Kelly, Marge’s boyfriend, went on to become Bart Maverick opposite James Garner. Tight little movie; it moved quickly.

    Watched this last night, fun flick! I don't remember seeing Gale Robbins before, she sure was great as the floozie, sashaying her hips in her tight off-the-shoulder dresses. Robert Armstrong of King Kong fame was good as her drunken husband. Thanks for posting!

    There is a lengthy fight scene between the characters played by Rod Cameron and Jack Kelly. Cameron, a veteran Republic studio actor, starred in two serials for the studio in 1943 as secret service agent Rex Bennett, where he and his stunt doubles fought three fights an episode for 15 episodes. There is no way Kelly's character could have lasted 15 seconds with Cameron landing pulverizing blows one after another. In the serials, Cameron had it tougher usually fighting against three criminals at once in a room filled with breakaway furniture. Sometimes then, even 6'4" Cameron wound up on the floor, knocked out. But those serial villains played rough.

    I used to upload old movies but some company bought the rights to two of them AFTER I uploaded them- like a year earlier. They gave me strikes and wouldn't simply take them down instead, or put ads on them. It was messed up, stopped me from doing it and now I see ones such as this up for a couple years, hoping the same BS doesn't happen to you. Would miss these.

    It's funny how in these old B&W movies, the drivers seem to frequently enter their car from the front passenger side. No center elbow rest in those days allowed them to slide to the driver's side. Besides that oddity, a very good movie.
