This guy is growing on me. There’s something so unbuttoned about the whole production. So unlike the usual H’wood glam. Great writing. I’m lovin’ this film. 💛

As soon as opening orchestra music starts playing it takes me back my youthful childhood days watching these great who done it movies and the old cars
We would watch the movies on 20 inch black and white valve tv ...No remote No surround sound only 4 tv channels that went off air at midnight and start at 6 o'clock in the morning....😊

Glad I'm not the only one longing for those days. That said I'm sure we only saw it from a youthful perspective. I imagine it was a time of amazement for our parents as I know at least mine were depression kids. Well, back to the picture.

Good movie, I'm an avid old movie watcher. I love the clothes, cars, style and real actors w/ genuine talent! Not like today's muck. Jack Le Rue was a consummate bad guy, always dashing and dangerous. His performance in The Story of Temple Drake was scandalous and fantastic! Check out Tom Browns performance in These Glamor Girls, fabulous fashions and a solid cast. Center's on proper social norms for young adults.

They weren't any more ignorant or innocent than today, except for social norms that have all but disappeared since the "revolution" of the late 60's.
Today anything goes, whereas back then, people had at least a social code from which to deviate or not.

    • @teresas8173

Daniel Sanford ...this movie was about crime, gangsters, murder and greed, hardly a reflection of innocence. And the reality of the 40s included WWII, Hitler, genocide, dead soldiers, and the atomic bomb. Innocent? Hardly.
