This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Immanuel Kant's Prolegomena To Any Future Metaphysics and examines his discussion in the Preamble on the peculiarities of all metaphysical knowledge, bearing upon how Metaphysics is to be differentiated as a science from other sciences. Kant tells us that there are three main differentiating factors, namely the object, the sources of cognition, and the kind of cognition.

Which is better to start reading: critique of pure reason or prolegomena?

My college philosophy professor told me that critique is essentially the basic of philosophy as a whole. But it may be subjective..

      There isn’t a “better”

@matyasjanda2977 If that's what your professor said about the Critique of Pure Reason, then you know they were wrong. There are two other critiques and a number of other important works by Kant, so the 1st Critique is definitely not "the basic of philosophy as a whole."
