- Just wanted announce that I made this project solely just for recreational purposes and am not demeaning Genshin Impact in any way. As a fan of both games, I thought it'd be fun to compare the animations of the two where some may or may not be overexaggerated. Thanks to players damoguyan and Uni for the Zhongli and Ayaka footages.

You haven't seen Honkai Impact's Yae Sakura.
One of her variants can do that, and you can spam JC like it's nothing. Unfortunately, I don't have her yet.

this isn't surprising at all. mihoyo has admitted in interviews that they take a lot of animation cues from dmc as well as fighting games. for what it's worth, it's so well executed and only serves to improve the game.

@@speeddemonji9547 integrating and translating an inspiration into new media and making it look and feel good upon execution is a more impressive feat than you think. these animations were not traced, rather sampled and turned into an homage that still manages to not feel out of place. there is nothing to "absolve", as you put it. if you're going to be mad be mad about something you actually understand. have a good day.

A dual weapon type wielder who uses claymore and switches to firearms would be so awesome.
I didn't compare the moveset, but my first fight with Maguu Kenki felt like I'm fighting Vergil again.

If you get Baal, she can technically still do the JC only during her burst by doing the charge attack/holding down the attack key.

I did consider Xinyan as Devil Arm Nevan at one point but figured the Jam Session comparison was just a relatively known signature rock move for guitarists; good call on the Jeanne though.
Vergil definitely gave some inspiration for this game's characters yeah haha. In hindsight actually forgot to include his Doppelganger compared to Maguu Kenki's Phantom along with Yamato Combo C next to Childe's Melee charged attack. We also encounter Agni and Rudra counterpart bosses a few times in Inazuma from puzzles/quests including the ones in the outro as well x).
@@Novantra Childe technically has Royal Release in his boss fight. If you hit him with either Hydro on his first phase or Electro on his Second phase, he does a unique counter that works similarly to Royal Guard
@@Exceed_HS Ah good call out. I never payed too much attention to that detail since I'm usually too focused trying to dodge his attacks, DPS, or run to the wall to remove the marks, but now that you mention it it really does have that familiarity.

Miyoho did this in their previous game Honkai impact 3. The ENTIRE move set of Kiana the main character is based frame by frame from Bayonetta, even with Witch time.

I think everyone is aware at this point that Mihoyo are huge DMC fans and took alot of insperation from it for Genshin, Honestly I just hope this means one day we get a Cross over with DMC like we have for Horizon Zero Dawn,
The problem is that Mihoyo often uses the word inspiration to make his games look like they haven't copied other games.

Good video, but you've still missed one. Kazuha's last attack in his normal attack chain is pretty much a rapid slash.
I don't know why but I can't accept the fact that most of the moves are so similar to devil may cry.
It's because most of these moves shown are a stretch, only Vergil's movesets that are eerily familiar
There are signora boss vs nevan boss (dmc3), they are very similar. the moving, flying with electrogana is same as nero in dmc4
I realized later on that Signora really did have the same vibe as Nevan having the same figure, AoE attacks, etc. Just sad I didn't realize it sooner since I couldn't quite put my finger on who Signora was so familiar with at the time :'). Great observation with the Electrogana though! That never crossed my mind for the platform bits with Nero.

Actually, the electric girl from fatui kinda reminds of Nevan, with all the electric bats and stuff
Pair up DMC5 and Honkai and those similarities become much more apparent.
Like the open-world sandbox APHO (basically a pocket DMC5) and the character Adam (basically Nero).
Also Yae Sakura (basically FemVergil), especially her variant battlesuit, Goshinsou Memento, which can spam Judgement Cut and do Judgement Cut End. (th-cam.com/video/_3R-o5ITl3U/w-d-xo.html)
(The time stop dodge mechanic is inspired from Bayonetta's Witch Time)
And then there's Kiana HoF (Herrscher of Flamescion), which is basically Dante with faster attack speed and without Gun or Royal.

If you're looking for more similarities to DMC, look for Punishing Gray Raven (they literally have two characters that has a rivalry like Dante and Vergil) and Honkai Impact 3

While me i got most of characters who have the same movesets in Genshin.
Itto's charge attack is Nero's High Roller EX and Split EX combined.

Also YOIMIYA (GUNSLINGER).
Ayaka's Soumetsu is actually Vergil's spinning attack if you look at it. Her Hyouka skill is basically Beowulf Hell on eaRth.
Xingqui's skill move resembles Beowulf's Lunar Phase move.
Keqing can also do a Judgement cut, use her skill once then charge attack.
I actually was debating if I should include Beidou for the RG shenanigans but I was aiming for more similarity in the animations per character despite having the same concept including the other mentions. Though they *are* still similar so I wouldn't hurt to have added them.
@@Novantra you still add Beidou though since there is a lot of RG actions that wipe out enemies out there like how Beidou one shot some enemies with her own skill.
Also Yoimiya can juggle enemies in the air with her attacks. Like how Dante peppers enemies with the Ebony and Ivory.
Also since you are talking about similarities in animation and stuff, some of missed Vergil moves as mentioned aboved. in addition Keqing's skill in terms of teleporting is basically DmC Vergil's angel lift move.

Yeah I knew I'd have overlooked a few stuff which I should've mentioned in the description initially but I'll definitely keep these in mind. Mind the DmC since I haven't touched that game since it came out and didn't dedicate as much game time as the mainline games. I actually do plan on reuploading with added movesets and revisions whenever my friend catches up with the story for the Ei boss fight so I can implement their recording for the reupload but Sparda knows how long that'll take though...

Initial animation of shogun burst is Vergil’s back-forward attack
I do have to admit, that even from Honkai Impact I could sense these guys fanatism for Vergil, like when you have an ability called "Dragons may cry"(or something like that, I can't remember) to the Vergil rip off, then you can understand that they are as fanboys of DMC as us.
If you use Keqings skill but then charge attack instead of using it again that is also like the standard Judgement cut, also now that we have Heizou we can sorta say that we have Beowulf but idk, the more iconic moves aren't there but the 4rth part of his combo can be compared to kick 13, also the Claymore Plunge can be compared to helm breaker
Overdrive is also similar to raiden puppets battle one where she casts 3 vertical slice and one big horizontal one

After watching this video i just notice something Cursed, VERY cursed (please God, i hope i was wrong!).
Did you guys remember that in DMC V there's dlc for Nero that add new Devil Breaker named "Sweet Surrender"? This Devil Breaker was said by Nico to be intentionally be use by Nero to be a "sex toy" for Kyrie.
In game this arm function is to restore you health gradually when you active it, it break age move will restore a lot amount of health immediately but break it in process.
So what is the cursed part? Well, i just noticed that Barbara ALSO do just that, skill restore your health gradually, burst skill restore all party health in large amount immediately.
So yeah, how your feeling when you're pure innocent waifu priest was originally a "sex toy"?

Remember: Vergil can travel literally anywhere with the Yamato~
The thing with Genshins simpler take on his movesets.. .they are meant to be part of a cycle between different characters in each attack.. so adding them together, with all elements, makes a massive visual noise.. too insane often..😂

Wow it's basically copy and paste. Here are some more similarities that I noticed:
- the characters have a "health" meter that indicate their life. When this bar runs out the character dies
- Characters gain some sort of fuel/energy that can be accumulated and spent for special moves in both games
- when you press X/A button (standard layout) characters will thrust their legs against the floor, causing their bodies to lift upwards in the air. Even the name of the move is the same: "Jump"
- if you stand still you will notice that characters breathe in and out
- the floor is located underneath the characters' feet and gravity always pulls objects towards it
While i agree some moveset were copying DMC. But this video are too overtrying.
The Nero, V and some of the Dante stuff where over trying. But you can negate, that almost every Vergil moveset is in the Genshin game.
Honestly, I love DMC so much but even I had to look and say, "aren't those movesets common in games or animes?"
Just like DMC took references from other games, animes, films, irl etc., the same could have happened with Genshin.
