Hey ABC, what about Marion, Mullins, Timmonsville, Dillon all small towns in South Carolina that had a major highway that went through their town years ago, & all ended up very poor when the Interstates were built. This whole county is poor, and other counties nearby are also in bad shape. But Allendale County is the most overlooked. I taught there for 28 years and tried to encourage students to make something of their lives. Even those who ended up in DJJ programs became my students again. Some did very well, but most do not have money to move to a city to go to a good college. I have stayed here to attempt to help the young people to try harder to show what they can do. Many are good kids but have not had a chance to show what they can do. I taught some how to repair a computer so they could get more high tech work. But, the county does not have many jobs available to normal students. One runs the mower to keep the school yards in good shape, but not businesses or factories have moved in. So sad that these young people cannot work where they live. They still call me and leave messages on Facebook to stay in touch. Many are now in poor health.

This should be America's big issue in November. If the American Black Voter turns out like they did in 2016 it will be a catastrophe for whoever wins. A 500 basis point drop in American Black Voters in 2016 from 2012 simply said 'we don't care about America'. That left a huge hole in our unity as a country.

Industry left this country as globalism was encouraged and companies moved out of the U.S. That former plant in the town should have been supported by the right economic incentives, i.e. stay in the country and give workers jobs in return for tax breaks, etc. It will take time for industry to return as it used to be but it's started. You can't blame President Trump for past policies.

This whole county is poor, and other counties nearby are also in bad shape. But Allendale County is the most overlooked. I taught there for 28 years and tried to encourage students to make something of their lives. Even those who ended up in DJJ programs became my students again. Some did very well, but most do not have money to move to a city to go to a good college. I have stayed here to attempt to help the young people to try harder to show what they can do. Many are good kids but have not had a chance to show what they can do. I taught some how to repair a computer so they could get more high tech work. But, the county does not have many jobs available to normal students. One runs the mower to keep the school yards in good shape, but not businesses or factories have moved in. So sad that these young people cannot work where they live. They still call me and leave messages on Facebook to stay in touch. Many are now in poor health.
