    This is my favorite car in the segment, hands down ! As an automotive enthusiast, you can't get better than this in terms of value, looks, and the whole package. Yes, you're sacrificing MPG for driving dynamics, let me tell you this car is one of the best drivers car for the money. Especially for a SUV. I drove a stelvio ti sport 2020 and it was the best handling , driving SUV I've ever driven. I went back to my CX5 and i was blown away, this car costs half of what that car costs and it delivers 80% of the feel. The handling is spot on, I'd kill myself if I have to drive a rav4. Mazda is so underrated. The fit and finish is better than the CRV too, great video. Thanks for punching it unlike other reviewers ! TBH this car drives better than the rdx , it feels heavier and not as nimble. Steering is also numb and brakes are even spongier ! I drove a RDX advanced 2021 model , also adaptive steering too.. but the CX5 has tighter steering for sure, heavier most people don't like it. I do !

      I’m cross shopping for a new Subaru to upgrade my current 2018 Forrester… I’ve shopped at the Honda dealership… Horrible experience! I shopped at three Subaru dealerships in my area and all three experiences have been horrible! The Mazda place the people were wonderful and so easy to deal with… I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but I’m leaning towards leaving Subaru and going to a Mazda… The only thing holding me back is the backseat space… The Subaru has tons of space and visibility is Top-notch! The problem if I keep my Subaru, or get a new one as I have to deal with this local dealership because many of the repairs have to be done by a dealer as the car gets older… They sold out to a company about a year ago and are not the same owners as when I bought my Subaru almost 6 years ago… The new owners are horrible, and I dread having to work with them… Would much rather work with the Mazda dealership here

    I'm now driving my 3rd CX-5. First was a 2014 Grand Touring, traded for a 2018 Grand Touring and now have a 2021 Signature with turbo. I've been a Mazda driver/owner for over 30 years now. Sure, I've had and driven many other makes before and during those 30 + years, but Mazda offers the best value for my money - example: I traded my 1991 MPV for the 2014 CX-5. That's 23 years of Mazda in a single vehicle, so I have no concerns of Mazda's longevity.

      I just got a CX5 and the only thing that I don't like about not having a touch screen is when it comes to the navigation system. I got traded in my Mazda 6 for my CX5 and my 6 had a touchscreen, but what I will say is that if I remember correctly the touchscreen only worked when the car was at a complete stop. I know that was the case for with using the navigation system, but I don't know for sure with other applications.

    We just bought a CX-5 with the turbo for $31K. Wife drove it yesterday and was surprised at the "pep" in the engine. "Whoa! This thing really goes!" She also remarked about how solid and tight the car felt on the road. I agree the interior quality is fabulous. We much prefer the infotainment controls on the console. It's safer because you can learn to operate them without looking at them. A touch screen is dangerous when you have to reach up and find the different points to tap while driving. Also, there's never any fingerprints on the display. And thanks for no dramatic music during the video.

    As you mentioned the dial in the middle for the entertainment system, well, I own 2 CX5 since 2014. I drive on some of the worst roads in my city. I also have over 800 mp3 songs. I couldn't if I try to scroll by swiping the screen, I'd be bouncing around and miss my choice all the time. People have not live with the scroll wheel and love to criticize the design because it isn't in many other premium cars so if this doesn't follow the majority it must be lagging behind. I can still use the touch screen when I am stationary. Very similar to BMW iDrive although maybe a bit simpler. I hope Mazda keeps this design going forward.

      Sorry, but I disagree. The paint colors offered by Mazda are tired and boring! They have not added a single new or exciting color in at least 12 years, which boggles my mind! Mazda's colors are the same boring ones all other car companies have; black, gray, silver, white, red and blue, and the "new" color you mentioned is not really new because Mazda already had a white color. They simply changed the name of the color in order to increase the extra price, which used to be $200...now it's $560 more, which is ridiculous! Also, the body style has not changed since 2017, and the interior hasn't either. I got a CX-5 in 2017 when they revamped the vehicle, and now I have a 2021. I was hoping that the 2023 model would have some exterior and interior changes, but I was very disappointed that it doesn't. My current lease expires next year, and I am sad to say I will not be getting another CX-5 because I am tired of driving the same car for so long. If they would add some nice new colors, I could be convinced to stay, but they won't even do that. ☹☹☹

    You talking about it not having all the new technology as a down side, but honestly i think thats a huge bonus. Every other car brand is throwing all of this technology as these new cars and putting them in even the base option. Not only does this make the base model more expensive, but most of these features are usually made with super cheap materials. Ive seen so many electronics fail on so many new cars. Its honestly what keeps me away from buying a newer car. The base version should be bare bones with minimal failure points. I think thats what is putting at the top of my list for a potential new car. I dont want all that fancy lane assist stuff. If you have to rely on your car to tell if you’re driving right then i dont trust you behind the wheel of a car.

    I know reliability is relative, and turbos can be all over the place. Did you find it difficult to stay out of the boost? Spool up too quickly? Only concern would be putting turbocharge wear/boost fuel economy in even mundane settings where you wouldn't need the extra power.
    I loved the turbo response test driving the CX-50: makes driving an SUV bearable. But as a maintenance stickler, (and someone who just put a deposit on a Mazda3 Turbo) it's in the back of my head.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I don't think it should add additional wear. That engine has been used in the much heavier CX-9 for 2016 and has had minimal problems there hold for some people reporting a little oil consumption (an issue I believe they attributed to the valve stem seal, should be fixed with cars manufactured after September 21).
      With any turbocharged engine, id be religious about maintenance, and there is more complexity to it. 15 years down the road, the 2.5T will likely need more attention than the standard engine. However, both engines have proven themselves to be more dependable than most out there.

    I rented a CX5 (2021) for a week and was very disappointed with the Active Cruise Control. It is inadequate and there is no reason for it...poor lane keep assist/correction and most important auto-follow does not resume to set speed when the blinker is engaged for passing until the vehicle is in the passing lane. This makes no sense. I really like the CX5 and was planning to purchase one, but will not if this was not updated in the 2022 model, or future 2023.

    • @cincijim
      @cincijim ปีที่แล้ว

      You can disengage the "Active" cruise control and it then behaves like regular "old" cruise control systems. Also, I'm not afraid to press my foot on the peddle when I hit my turn signal and begin my lane change. The cruise control resumes the set speed automatically when I lift my foot off the peddle. Anymore though, I find it difficult to drive with any cruise control, since there are just too many other cars traveling at different speeds these days.

    It's supposedly reliable, but I have to say I was pretty damn nervous when I was about to buy a used CX-5 with turbo. The price was good and it was obvious that the dealer had a difficult time selling it, and as a result the price dropped. Basically a 42k car became 28k (CDN) in 3 1/2 years time. But I *still* couldn't take the plunge because I got wet feet about "is the turbo really working... does it ever fail to kick in... will the remaining powertrain warranty be ok given the car does not come with any records other than carfax which isn't showing much service"... etc.
    It drives wonderful, but boy oh boy, does it feel like a risk.
    Then decided to go near new, spend 10k more, and get the 3 cyl 201HP turbo Nissan Rogue. Less sporty, absolutely.
    The point is that while a new CX-5 turbo might be a nice proposition, realize that the depreciated is terrible on it. Used turbos that are made as if they're more like an optional add-on as opposed to full time in use, I feel aren't really a good idea.
    This turbo is basically a bolted on feature.
    Like with AWD, the rear wheel don't really have to prove themselves 99% time of the year.
    Does one floor it just to prove that the turbo is still there?
    I know what it's like to fall in love with a car and all, but from the point of view of someone looking at all the options, it isn't all that great of a great choice, imo.
    Plus the terrible rear legroom, in case you have kids.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wouldn’t be concerned with the turbo reliability if you maintain it well, and the engine is built strong (look at semi trucks which all have turbos and are built to last a million miles). I’d be much more concerned with the transmission on any nissan. That has a long history of issues.

    • @Antiorganizer
      @Antiorganizer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Realistick The lawsuit settlement against Nissan resulted in a long term fix for its customers. The problem appears to have gone away since 2019. Nissan isn't the only company committing to CVTs. They're not stupid, and they're quite capable of engineering an improved one. In fact, reportedly, the newer ones have a whole less friction. The end result is that the Rogue has the best fuel economy, and by quite a bit, than any of its competition. That's also because it's VC Turbo setup, obviously.
      As for the CX-5, while it's relatively new, and still covered under its power train warranty, it might feel like a non issue, but imagine buying a used one that's sneaking up to its power train warranty limit. Combine that with still a pretty large sum of money. eg. at least 25k CDN for a used one that has 0-1 years left on that PT warranty. Feels risky.
      On the upside, the depreciating is greater than average, so there are deals to be had. I almost jumped on one the other day. I'll miss it's handling for sure. I did notice that on one of the take offs at a traffic light, I thought it was struggling a bit, as if the turbo chose not to be part of it that round. But then flooring it, it seemed to kick in. I didn't like the turbo having moods like this. It felt a bit flaky to me in that way. It feels that that turbo is a bolt on optional feature that may or may not always be there for you...

If you plan to use the back seats for people then go with the CX-5 though. So, other than new paint colors, what's different between 2022 & 2023? Is that really the only difference?

      Been trying to find the answer to this myself and that is the only difference I could find. That makes me feel better since I just got. 22 and couldn't wait the extra month for the 23 lol

      @@pietrosavastano4641 I think I saw something about a "stop-start" feature. I didn't notice one when I drove a '22 CX-5 but the '23 CX-50 I drove last week had that "feature." Not sure I'd like that. It can be annoying, particularly if the stop & go traffic is moving at a relatively brisk pace. I'd worry about wear & tear on the starter. Apparently it can be disabled (& re-enabled) by pushing a button, but it is re-enabled the next time you start the vehicle.

    I bought the same colour in dubai just 2 months back .bt im still in a doubt whether I made a right choice or not as it gives me only 9km per litre.and especially choosing over hybrid Toyota rav 4 or corolla Cross hybrid...plz reply people

      The new Toyota Rav4 isn't stellar on integrity and reliability and Corolla Cross is more underpowered than the CX-5 and the interior isn't as nice.

    The only new feature for ‘23 is white paint?
