Scargill's hair looks so flammable, it could so easily go up like a tinder box, with just a reflection from somebody's glasses.

Nationalisation of companies across the board is not always a good thing. However, the recent energy crisis has demonstrated how services that are essentially monopolies by the nature of the beast that they are, may be better be off being nationalised. Interestingly enough, it is the conservative party that has put forward plans/proposals to renationalise a part of the railway system. Each case for nationalisation or privatisation should be made on a case by case basis and not simply 'nationalise - good', 'privatisation bad'. At the end of the day though, it all depends on the management skills of those running the organisation and nationalised organisations tend not to have a good record when it comes to efficiency.

Unions are a balance. You can’t strike and strangle the company you work for. It comes back to the old saying “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”. The point of unions is for workers of a company to strive for fair wages and protection for the worker from unjust conditions. When the unions try to get a stranglehold on the company they wind up choking the lifeblood that is sustaining the workers. The solution is a federal law dictating workers rights so that companies can abide by that and the working man can get his fair shake.

Lol so costing countless people to lose thier jobs not only in the mining industry but in countless thousands of other businesses is ok then Doogigiro ?The fact is scargill and all other radical unions were the enemy of the people as all the wild cat strikes caused more damage to our country and more still the general population than they did to the government time and time again...Obviously you are a radical leftie so really its pointless debating with you as you and your mates are living on another planet.

The most honest and courageous human being who ever held public office. He has been proved correct unfortunately over and over again. Look at the world now, a few families own more wealth than half the world's population. British workers have had the longest standard of living squeeze since the Napoleon's wars. The result of years of Thatcherite style policies including attacking the unions etc. We should have followed King Arthur's lead.

Hearing the girl near the end start saying,
    "I'm sorry, but.."
(-ie. she wasn't sorry at all-) reminded me of a few situations I was asked about, as an English as a Second Language teacher, in the 90's (-I still do it).
A young Chinese university student once came to the group, totally perplexed.
    She said,
" I met my Australian friend for lunch.
I felt so bad, I was 20 minutes late.
    My friend said,
    *Thanks for coming*
    Why she thank me?
    I was late!"

I think it simply because of the internet. I mean because of the speed on which it put whatever you searched for infront of you can cause you to be used to speed and as such this causation has the effect and turning everything into like bullets or bubbles where information is compressed into shorter and shorter terms.
Ironically stalin warned about how capitalism would create a generation used to "shorter movies" with no substance because of the advancement of capitalism.

All we seem to get today are nerdy types living in there mums back bedroom playing video games all day or empty headed botoxed up tango tanned Katie price types with less intelligent than a jam sponge... With all there , yeah but, not but, like you know whatever phrases... At least in the 1980’s people could still properly interact & hold a cogent debate. Oh! how far we have fallen...

Scargill wanted to start a tariff war with Europe and I'm sure the Japanese, also. 🤣 Very shallow policies that would undoubtedly destroy the economy. These youngsters were mostly quite right-leaning economically. They probably did quite well in the 80s.

The funny thing is that this exactly what the tories and pro brexit people have created now with their short sighted jingoistic viewpoints. Actually, listening to mr Scargill talking about protecting British workers and business you would think your listening to a Brexit supporting tory now!

The youngsters left school with unemployment at a record high nearly the size of the population of New Zealand, both N.I and S.I, apprenteships scrapped. Then you became on migrant labour as you did not want to give your own youth the chance and today you need plasters, brickies, doctors, dentists, teachers and you fleece your own people. The only country which taxed the poor for the amount of light they recieved and hence the small windows in old homes. Overseas, can recalim the VAT, avoid income tax, use the NHS, whilst thoste who fought for this country sell the Big Issue! You fly a girl like Malala gve her an operation on the NHS, a place at Oxford, a Noble prize, then a Council House, give her the opportunitty to open the Common Wealth Games, whilst poor Albert, Doris, Ethel are denied any op even they fought and lost their men and women in the war!
