I think nike killed the resellers too with their high MSRP on the retros. 200+ for a pair of shoes is getting a little ridiculous, especially with the price of everything else going up, buying dozens of 200+ dollars shoes isn't advisable for most people anymore. That has to do a lot with this problem, a lot of those customers are probably aleo growing up and moving away from shoe collecting, realizing they're just shoes, and the other prominent members in the sneaker community can look like clowns, cringe man-babies, or even worse the sneaker resellers and all the immaturity they have.

@@josephlopez2909 what do you think my comment meant? I'm saying we're not buying shoes anymore, even at retail, let alone resell. Nike did this by slowly increasing prices over the years to match reseller prices, trying to find the sweet spot of maximum their profit on retail and still having all the resellers buy them out and reselling them. Nike, for some shoes, only considered resellers, not customers, and now when they're making decent colorways, no ones buying because we're not going to pay as much as they're asking anymore.

As someone who's only had basic everyday shoes I've always been astonished people pay more than MSRP for damn shoes! Like it's something you put on your feet to go to the store and most people around you don't care
I used to be a sneaker head then one day I snapped out of it. Shoes are at the bottom of your body on the floor. I rarely even look down at people feet. I’m usually looking them in the eye. Plus sneakers don’t make the cut in 90% pics. I rather buy a nice shirt

i saw a lot of trends in market between 2011-2024
then age of resellers started to see more around 2013-to present it was funny when Ig took off and you start seeing all these ig resellers buying just everything they could get their hands on and made it hard for regurlar customers to get the basic jordan retro colorways that where not popular.
I agree that reps do influence the resell market but think it more just comes down to supply/demand. GR sneakers that would have resold are going on sale. There is no longer a consumer demand. Life is getting expensive.

Resell is dead due to the economy. Trust me if people still had disposable income they would be buying for resell, taking vacations etc. A lot of people are broke, plain and simple.

The average sneaker head is not struggling to pay bills. A lot of them still live at home. Reselling is dead because Nike flooded the market there isn’t a shoe you can’t get anymore. Also the hypebeast are leaving.

Nike shoes are actually made in factories in Vietnam where people make 50 cents an hour and the total shoe cost is about 3$ a pair.

Facts people need to wake up
So many rereleases and so many new releases, you just have to be patient and you can buy them from Nike, Footlocker, etc. Also reps are so uncomfortable, only like 10% of reps are actually comfortable enough to wear all day.
I actually like resellers. Theres items I want which never had a market for it and because of that I cant purchase the items anywhere. Resale prices maybe suck, but being able to buy a DS shoe from 5,10,15,20 years ago is something that I love. Also, I never buy on stockx
Glad your creating awareness to all of these shoe predators/ thief’s. Personally ide rather go without. Get another shoe, maybe something nobody wants. Paying over $300 for shoes just to get dirty and not re sell isn’t really worth it idk.
I am smiling about the downfall of the reseller market. The Jordan 6 Black Infrared is due for another release (Last release February 2019) and I can't wait to get that sneaker. In 1991 I fell in love with that sneaker but each release was a huge L for me. Sold out before I could get them.
Reseller here for many years and enjoy the hobby. The pandemic resellers ruined how it’s supposed to be. To provide shoes at affordable prices and give the people steals!
It’s not the reps that killing the game .The root of the problem is the back dooring and the real sneaker heads can’t get em and that high ass resale price.. People are feeling ripped off
exactly, and nike has been overproducing shoes to slow down reselling, which obv affected their profit this quarter. I think going forward we won't see 500K pairs of AJ4 bred and blue militaries.
Love scrolling through the post to see the original release date and price. See they were bought for $220 but now you gotta put up thousands if you want a pair. The resellers are ruining the sneaker game
As much as i love a nice pair of unique sneakers , i never got into building a collection due to the resell market. I remember during the lockdown trying to get me the South Park Towlee shoes but didn't win the Adidas raffle and of course after they launched a bunch of em was on stock X for double the price. Right now im just happy wearing my Yeezy pods for everyday activities and cheap 30$ workout shoes for when im at the gym.
I agree this happened with me trying to get a pair of red knu skool vans for my daughter. So unfair the dhie is 79 but resaling for 200. She really wanted a pair im so😢

I make good money but in principle would never pay $400 to $500 for Jordans when I could have gotten them for under $200 had there not been scalping.

I’ve been collecting shoes for 20+ years and have hundreds of pairs but I’m at the point where I’m open to reps! Before pride wouldn’t let me wear them! You buy expensive pairs then try to sell them and lose money or you don’t want to wear them because they are expensive so I been buying reps here and there and I can’t tell the difference on feet and if your not planning on re selling then buy reps! I’m no expert on telling what’s real and what’s not but neither are the so called people who legit check shoes lol they are 20 years old and think they know 😂 there’s no guideline to checking no checklist Nike or anyone else gives out to check them.

i remember a few years back i had the 1999 black oreos before they re released in 2021 and i wore them in store and foot locker employee came up to me and said those are nice fakes where did you get them from.
I would never wear fakes, just as a test I bought a few fakes of different Yeezys a few months ago, and as someone who has a lot original Yeezy there’s no fake that can fool me, so crazy how some people can get fooled by fakes, not only are fakes not even close to squishy as original adidas boost but the quality control and knit of the upper is superior compared to fakes.

I would never wear 1:1's like a clown. I just accept some kicks i won't get. I think sneakerheads finally realized that if we don't play their games they can't win. I love that the resell market is dying. My dream is that one day we can all walk into any mall and grab a pair of off white Jordans 1's 😂.
I bought Freddy Kruger SB Dunk replicas… you think I care if people know they are fake? It’s a 1:1 ratio in my eyes, it looks great, it feels great, and I wear them in October every time when I dress as Freddy. Nothing wrong with people buying reps to over priced sneakers, the only problem are the re-sellers and elitists that CREATED this problem, complaining about us buying reps.
Technically those shoes never released, and the very limited pairs that were released were UAs, aka Reps. There was also only like a few hundred pairs of them made. As they say, thus every pair you ever see are likely fake.

What makes your "local legit checker" word on the validity of a shoe law? What school did they graduate from? What license from Nike do they have to make these calls. Authentication when it comes to sneakers is a joke full stop. NOBODY knows what their talking about especially with the quality of reps today. Why is the local high school drop out turned reseller all of the sudden able to dictate who's shoes are fake and who's are real? Who the fuck are they to make this call? It's hilarious...
Those sneakers reseller gave “enterpreneurs” a bad name.. Their success relied on big margin per shoes, not because of their hardworking as they always claimed..
Great video! But u mentioned the apps using pics and that people use fake photos which I’m sure is true but the initial pics are just to list the shoe on website and to somewhat verify it’s in that condition. But they still ship in to be authenticated. So ur not buying from some random photos.

I preordered my first pair of sneakers in my 30s cuz I liked how they looked. Looking forward to getting them on release. But I wouldn’t buy from a reseller, I would wear the shoes and no matter how much I make I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing shoes worth thousands.
There are so many shoes out there that there is really no reason to have heart set on certain expensive pair. Just keep looking and you'll find a cheaper pair that probably looks better than the pair u wanted

Its a domino effect. Resellers started it charging way too fucking much. Nike only putting out limited amounts and the resellera using bots to cop em. The hype ia fake as hell. It gives me a headache. I started rocking airmax 1's. If theres a shoe dropping and i cant get it, fuck it I'll live.

Agreed. I never got into sneakers until very recently and mildly. I still mostly wear boots. And a good pair of boots goes for 800 or so, but lasts forever and is meant to get beat up.
Randomly walked into undefeated and felt like I was in HS again. Bought a few things. Then preordered a pair of Jordan 4 retros cuz I liked the color. But that cost at 300 is about the cap for me. I could not in good conscience spend more than that on sneakers. Yes they look cool, and yes there is artificial scarcity. But they are not hand made or particularly high quality.
Someone in a thread was talking about KAWs and that the shoe I preordered was a bootleg version. 😂😂😂 I went and looked up what he was talking about, fucking 5k for a pair? Nah never miss me with that shit

Here’s an interesting fact. I took my wife to buy an LV bag at the AD and even they sell fakes. Two identical bags shown, huge discrepancies, things looked off, and the zipper even fell off while we were checking them out. At the AD! No more trust, no more confidence, no thank you. Might as well buy a rep.

I bought a pair of jordan 4 reimagined sneakers from a reseller. My boy told me get them legit checked. They eere fakes and i paid like 400 first pair of jordans ever.
I think you got 1 thing wrong. Companies do care about resale and companies like StockX and GOAT since there are known Nike execs that are also part of StockX and other companies driving the price up.
