Sir, I am an almost 40 year working cowboy. I have worked ranches from here in Texas to all the way in Alberta Canada. I appreciate your videos for their peek into our chosen vocation. I only found you about two weeks ago, and I have become a fan. I only this evening, watched your video concerning cowboy footwear. I am probably close to your seasoned age and have similar ailments, if bad hips, knees, back ankles... evaluate. Might I suggest that you investigate boots made by Olathe Co., NOT to be confused with Rios od Mercedes. Olathe provides WORKING BOOT on par with Mercedes but at a fraction of the cost. I have worn a TALL #1 teo for almost 15 years with no complaints. Best regards, Hop Dillon.

Have you ever tried a down blanket? Ive been using one paired with a nice wool blanket on top in my canvas cutter and it works great. They make light, packable down blankets that roll up small and keep ya warm.

I use the bedroll from J.M. Capriola, swapped out the foam for a Therm-A-Rest MondoKing XXL pad, added Tribeca Living Heritage flannel sheets, a woobie midlayer, Pendleton Yakima wool outer blanket, a myLatex wool pillow, and Texas Bushcraft survival tarp (bottom for added water protection or as a tarp under heavy rainfall).
I add a down blanket for winter.
This system lets me sleep anywhere comfortably, right next to a fire if need be, and the canvas roll is over-sized, so you can wrap extra gear into the roll and/or have a dry, clean surface to lay out said gear.
Bombproof and I’ve never slept better outdoors.

I think the old Hollywood "one blanket tied in the back of the saddle" was more of a just in case blanket for if you got stuck out in the middle of nowhere or got separated from your pack animal. Sleep on your saddle blanket and have enough blanket on top of you to keep you alive. A lot of those movies are also set in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, etc where it might not get as cold as night and doesn't rain as much

I’m from Australia I had a beautiful red heeler called Emma, she passed away last year , she was 15 years old . Amazing dog very sweet and unbelievably intelligent and fiercely loyal. It was crazy how smart she became.
Definitely needs a lot of training and work when young and can literally run all day so not suitable for cities , they are a working mustering cattle dog. I live semi rural area with lots of open spaces she loved to explore. If you manage to give them a life they deserve they will repay you so much . Beautiful dogs ❤

Lightweight hunting or mountaineering gear works pretty good. I quit carrying sleeping bags on my backpacking trips and use kuiu goose down pants jacket and gloves over my regular clothes folds into there own pockets weight about a pound. Multi purpose can use for cold weather and for sleeping gear. Most important for me is neck and head usually good beanie and neck gaiter. Ive slept on the ground in the 20s at 10,000 feet this way sometimes in the dirt sometimes with blow up 3" thick sleeping pad. Ill cheap out on alot of stuff but not sleeping gear. I need my sleep when the going gets tough.

First, thanks for your videos. I'm no cowboy, and I never owned a horse, but I did some riding back in my younger days. It's probably been over 25 years since I was on horseback. I'm pushing 70 now and would love to ride again but I'm so stiff, I doubt I could mount a horse now even with a box step. I was wondering if you might do a talk on aging and riding. Also, I'm a cigar and pipe lover too but I'm poor so it's mostly Rocky Patel Fumos and Drew Estate factories for me. Flor De Olivia's are good cigars and cheap for the price. Thanks again.

I have an actual Hudson Bay blanket that was given to me as a gift several years ago. It is a king size 100% wool blanket. My son, Jesse, uses a wool blanket made by Pendleton. These are both excellent choices, but they are also very expensive. I really don’t know who else is making heavy wool blankets. I’m sure there’s somebody, but I just don’t know who they are. But I do know that wool is quite expensive.

Dwayne may be too busy preparing for his trip to Idaho to get to your question, Mr. Souza. Not a dumb question at all for persons unfamiliar with old style, hammer fired semi auto pistols. His sidearm is a type known as a “1911” pistol. If you read up on them some, you’ll find that is the correct ready mode of carry. Called “cocked and locked”, live round in the chamber, seven more in the magazine, in the grip frame, manual safety “up/on”. As has been used in the USA since the U.S. Army adopted the first model in the year 1911.

The knife was made by fire creek forge, and the sheath came with it when they sent it to me

Thank you so much. I have to say this cause it means so much to me. I've sent message after message asking you "what jacket are you wearing", "what mic are you using", "who makes that vest", etc and every time you have takin time out of your day to respond to every question I've had. That means so much to me and speaks volumes on the type of man you are. Be safe and have a great time with your boys. Can't wait to see your next video.

I may have missed this in previous videos but why are you going up the mountain on this trip? Is this work (to do what?) or is this just a camping trip? I feel like this is work - but I don't understand the objective from being a outsider looking in

I need some advice. I’m in a long distance relationship with my gf and she has started giving one of her male coworkers lifts to work everyday in her car. Should I be worried? Why? Why not?
