First check for carbon build up on the armature on,the DC electric motor. Second check the wheel pick up and return wheels on powered units. Clean the wheels on the powered units. Take apart the powered units trucks and clean with rubbing alcohol. Aloso, tha is a good find.
I drove past as I was in Woodstock that weekend but I did not have time to stop by unfortunately. Looks like there was lots to pick from. Thanks for sharing!
Your steam engine is an old Mantua with an open frame motor. It looks like it needs a GREAT cleaning and should come back to life. Clean the motor AND the brushes. Good Luck! Dirk's Trains
Hey Dave, my name is Steven McCoy, I gave you the book on Scottish Railways. I hope you like it. I also operate the Lakeshore Model Railroaders’ Association show in Mississauga. Please come November 26 2023. We get lots of cool stuff similar to Ancaster.
@@ScottRails yes , it was, topped off by 3 bins of cool stuff! You already have more projects than you will ever complete! That’s what train shows are for.
Nice selection of goodies you got there dude, that's the thing living in UK, don't get that kinda variety of HO at train shows here, I'd have blown a small fortune on it too, lol. Look forward to seeing what you got in those 'surprise' boxes. All the best. Brian @ The Angels
It's starving for oil and Wheels need cleaning they will run good as of the steam loco it needs the tender hooked up to work and some good oiling..., Joe
Amazing video mate. That Train Show had a lot of great vendors. There were so many of them i couldn't count all of them. I think you got a lot of very nice stuff there to my favorite model train is your DELAWARE & HUDSON LOCO & B unit great video and keep up the great work 👍👍😀😀 And congratulation on getting over 800 subs. I think you will get 1000 subs in no time (:
The D&H Alco PA is definitely approved by a D&H fan like me. The Delaware & Hudson bought four Alco PAs from the Santa Fe in the mid 1960s to pull their passenger trains between Albany, NY and Montreal. However the D&H didn't purchase any B units from the Santa Fe. So that's the only unprototypical thing about the Athearn Blue Box Locomotives. Apart from that they are a great purchase!
@@ScottRails The D&H didn't have B units at all. The passenger trains they did run rarely exceeded more than 10 cars, except for excursion trains. What they did was run the PA's individually or have two A units back to back. However by the end of their careers on the D&H they were used to pull freight so don't shy away from using that PA to pull some freight around the loop!
These shows are always interesting, in this case it’s about an hour west of here. I spotted a few British items and a pity you didn’t hover about them. I know the North American locos are often colourful and interesting and certainly have an appeal but I am surprised you don’t run British outline? Enjoyed your airbrush video btw
Athearn Blue Box locos are your best bet as a beginner, A little cleaning goes a long way with them and will run well for many years, They have strong motors and well designed drives. They are very inexpensive as well.
Were you there early or late cuz there were a lot more people when I was there. I came home with one little bag, the scourge of an N scaler. Wish I'd seen that bag of scratch building material. Good haul Dave.
We were there early, then I went back after lunch without wifey, lol. Yes, it was pretty busy in the morning. That bag of stuff was at the Woodstock show, but we didn't know what to do with it then. Thankfully no one had bought it so we snapped it up this time.
The Chessie loco looks like a Tyco ALCO hi hood C628, it might be missing the fuel tank, there shouldn't be such a large gap between the trucks. Those Athearn Blue Box ALCO PA locomotives are beautiful, always loved the D&H paint scheme on those and in my opinion the nicest paint scheme to ever grace the PA locomotives.
Yes indeed. It looks like that wire just connects to a screw on the chassis of the tender. Easy fix, but the plastic bar connecting the units is garbage. I'll make something better.
Hey man, I see you do HO scale love the vids But I do N scale and have some HO scale I wanna get rid of if your interested (Its a big tote) Maybe we could chat or somethng?
A book about Scottish Trains, in Canada! wow!
Looks, like this is as close as I will get to a train show this year. Milwaukee's TRAINFEST is to be held in Nov.2024.
Where do you live? I’m in South Milwaukee but haven’t attended Trainfest for 20yrs…I know, sacrilegious! 😂😅
Nice layout, and entertaining, Thanks, and Thumbs up
Thank you. Long way to go, but now I can finish laying the track.
nice haul Dave have lots of those tyco mantuas they are old but run like tanks after you clean them up and lube them👍
Great haul Dave, thanks for taking us along. I can’t wait to see what’s in the boxes outside the garage door.
I've just looked through them all. Video out maybe Tomorrow or Wednesday.

Yes I did. It was a great show on a great day.
HOLY SHIT!! 3 BOXES!!! THAT LIME IS WORTH OVER A $100 BY ITSELF!!!!! Wanna sell some ?????
No, it's all mine...MINE I tell ya!
Use small dental elastics (3/8” or 5/16”) for traction tires. They are used on braces. They are cheap and they work !
Take a good 9volt battery with on the next one, you can use it across the wheels to see how good the good runners really are.
Good idea. But don't put the battery in your pocket with loose change or a bunch of keys. Don't ask me why.

I was just amazed it even moved. Poor thing was in the junk box. It WILL live again.
very cool ! Seems like a good show, maybe one day I will head down there
It really was great. I could easily have spent my life savings. Oh, wait....
I Look At it this Way if you leave a Train show with Some Goodies you have Done Well.

@@ScottRails i meant to ad this to my first comment, the D&H was purchased by Canadian Pacific in 1991.

Dave.. i think i would blow my yearly budget in one day at the Ancaster show..lol... looks like i may have to attend this year (2024) show..

C630 which in real life high goods were only bought by N&W
How come there is always more Wisconsin Central stuff at Canadian train shows than at shows in Wisconsin🤔
